  1. Hey Mike, those motorsport T5's don't happen to have a counter gear stabilizer like the one at gearzone already built in, do they?
  2. If you would like to stay with a carb then by all means do so, a decent 4-barrel carb is pretty hassle-free.

    Fresh sushi

Get your gas mask, that thing must smell something aweful. YUCK!
  4. Pyro has just made my point and then some. I've got somewhere in the neighborhood of 390tq and my nwc T5 feels no different in 1 1/2 years of hard (but transmission-conscious)driving.
  5. Do you mean Cuato from Total Recall? There was a big stink at the oscars that year because he didn't win best supporting actor. Over 30 missions from us and the Russians have failed so far.
  6. I know how you feel. P.S. Thanks for the headers man, no leaks and the ceramic coating is still looking good!
  7. Yes, definitely points for uniqueness. I'd like to see a polished engine&triples along with this setup - it'd be a sweet looking L6 without question!
  8. Thanks for sharing that one. What were you facing had you not got the lucky break? I'm betting it was a mercury sable, or possibly a reliant k.
  9. You guys are blazing a trail into an affordable turbo system for the V8Z - this would really be a big step forward and would make for virtually unlimited potential. Good luck!
  10. If you are comfortable with around 6k redline, a moderately built 350 will get you there. These motors are abundant, spend a few weeks looking in your local parts trader and you may find a great deal on a motor somebody is trying to sell cheap.
  11. At least he climbs in the backseat to brace for impact, he just couldn't get his stance set in time.
  12. I'm running an '85 T5 with a 153 tooth flywheel and an 11" McLeod that hooks up nicely. IMO a lightweight flywheel makes sense in a miata since you really need to wring every ounce of power you can from the small 4. With a V8 and standard 153 tooth flywheel you're going to be amazed at how much faster your car revs than the miata did. I wouldn't recommend a lightened flywheel, you'll be plenty busy shifting as it is.
  13. Thanks Warren, good luck with the swap. If you are able to get the ford setup working you'll save money in the long run should you ever need another T5 since fords are cheaper.
  14. Yes the backspacing is very aggressive on these rims. They are 15x8 with 205/60/15 front and 225/60/15 rear, but the tires look as if they are a couple of sizes bigger. I'm not sure of the offset.

    Muffler of choice?

I ran a moroso spiral flow into a hooker aerochamber at the rear, 2 1/2" pipe in my old L6. The sound was a good combination of raspiness and deep pressure waves you could feel at a distance.
  16. You gotta love the low entrance fee, more dough left over to pour into the swap. How's the interior? It looks pretty good in the photos.
  17. I run yokohama avs intermediate 225/60/15 rears. Great overall tire and very stealthy because they make hardly any noise when you peel out.8) I am somewhere around 400hp/390tq at the crank of a 327/T5. Flooring the car in 2nd at 2,000 rpm will have the tire spinning by 3,500 rpm. A wider tire or something stickier would help me hook better, but I'm generally satisfied as they handle very well when not going in a strait line.
  18. I remember someone here - I want to say Mike C - about a bellhousing available that allows a mustang T5 to be used in a sbc. I can't remember if you needed to change the input shaft or not. Do a search, the post is out there somewhere. Good luck
  19. Good info Sparky, thanks for digging in a bit. I still don't buy the logic that since this study was only done in a GSM region then other cells aren't dangerous. More tests are in order. I'd like to be optimistic, but that rat brain looks F@$%*D up enough to keep me asking questions.
  20. Yep, looks like quite a few more than just T Mobil use this format in America...
  21. Have you considered swapping a complete 280ZX turbo engine instead? Seems it may be chaeaper than changing out your pistons and buying an aftermarket turbo. Just a thought as used turbo motors can be cheap and upgraded to be plenty fast. Good luck.
  22. One thing to keep in mind is that brain tissue is brain tissue, regardless of whether it's a rat or human. Perhapse everyone with a cell phone is a "lab rat" of sorts, but not in a test that only spans 50 days. At this point, nobody can say what the truth is either way. IMO more caution is in order until more is uncovered. Keep in mind we were reassured repeatedly that DDT, IUDs, and Miltown were all "safe," until outside testing proved otherwise. The familiar "This is your brain on drugs" slogan may be nothing compared to what we're doing unknowingly with cell phones. We shall see one way or the other...
  23. Here's an interesting article to check out in Popular Science. It's not conclusive and needs further study, but indicates cell phone radiation isn't good for brain tissue: http://www.popsci.com/popsci/medicine/article/0%2C12543%2C573349%2C00.html "His team exposed 32 rats to 2 hours of microwave radiation from GSM cellphones. Researchers attached the phones to the sides of the rats' small cages using coaxial cables -- allowing for intermittent direct exposure -- and varied the intensity of radiation in each treatment group to reflect the range of exposures a human cellphone user might experience over the same time period. Fifty days after the 2-hour exposure, the rat brains showed significant blood vessel leakage, as well as areas of shrunken, damaged neurons. The higher the radiation exposure level, the more damage was apparent. The controls, by contrast, showed little to no damage. If human brains are similarly affected, Salford says, the damage could produce measurable, long-term mental deficits."
  24. I've gotta get to the track...here's two slips in the meantime:
  25. Needs a tach strapped to his arm and an ashtray somewhere.
