  1. "On September 4 1967 the New York Times published an upbeat story on presidential elections held by the South Vietnamese puppet regime at the height of the Vietnam war. Under the heading 'US encouraged by Vietnam vote: Officials cite 83% turnout despite Vietcong terror', the paper reported that the Americans had been 'surprised and heartened' by the size of the turnout 'despite a Vietcong terrorist campaign to disrupt the voting'. A successful election, it went on, 'has long been seen as the keystone in President Johnson's policy of encouraging the growth of constitutional processes in South Vietnam'." http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1403103,00.html I really hope things go better in Iraq, time will tell.
  2. "...I chose the 302 because, like you said, it raps up quick as hell. And to me the 383 is the EXACT opposite of that. Most of the 383's ive been around rap up kinda slow cause of the lo ng stroke." We had a big discussion on this a while ago, a 383 (because of higher torque) will wind up FASTER than a 302, all things equal. The 302 can rev HIGHER than a 383, all things equal. Here's the thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=87072&highlight=short+stroke
  3. I have a 327 in my Z and I'm very happy with the way it behaves. The power seems to keep ramping all the way to redline. I run a single plane manifold and drag radials in hopes of minimizing low end spin, no luck through 2nd but 3rd is solid now. With that said, a 350, 377, 383, or 406 would also be nice in a Z. Good luck.
  4. Trapped in your car with 60 bottles of beer - what would you do? http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1261997.html?menu
  5. Wow, at least you neither seem phased nor are letting it keep you from what looks to be a formitable upgrade. Good luck next time. Where's SCTV when we need it? I love that show, you just reminded me how bummed I am the comedy channel doesn't feel the same.

  7. Larry, your Z sounds amazing!! Great work man and congrats on your progress.
  8. Heck yeah, that sounds like an excellent combo!!
  9. There are pics and details of a lotus esprit with a SHO v6 on the net somewhere, a very cool conversion if you can find it.

  11. Congratulations Dan, have you shared the news with Tony Mach yet? I'll bet he's proud as well. Your creativity has produced a Z unlike any other. Again, congrats on the accolades. Brett
  12. If you guys come to Sacramento for the drags you'll be passing right by my place, maybe we could meet up for lunch or a coffee? Let me know as it's always nice to see the hybrid crew in person. Brett
  13. Congratulations Dave! Are the two of you planning on having any more?
  14. I know I'm coming in a bit late here, but I noticed you were looking at an edelbrock crate motor...there are a few posts I've read from people that had this setup and said the cam edelbrock uses was too big - looks good on paper but other cams do a much better job. It's been a while but the posts are here somewhere. BTW I have performer rpm heads on my Z, they are good but a set of afr heads will do more and you may be able to find a turn-key engine that uses them. Congratulations on your Z project and the best of luck!
  15. I really appreciate the assistance, thanks for the help everyone! Brett
  16. For the last couple years I've been using a McLeod 11" street/strip unit with no complaints. The petal is stiffer than normal but not a workout. Their T/o bearing, disk & pp are well made and grip, and they have HD units for your application. I've heard people running both 10 1/2" and 11" with success. Are you going to run a countergear stabilizer or are they unnecessary on G-force transmissions? Good luck with your tranny, Mike.
  17. Thanks for the reply, I use the grease that comes with the module and make sure not to tighten it down enough to squeeze it out.
  18. Hi everyone, I've got an HEI that likes to fry modules about every two months. I'm just beginning to investigate, anyone had a similar experience or any helpful advise? Thanks and happy holidays, Brett
  19. I'll see your cannibalism and raise you one. Check out what christian rebels did in the Sudan: http://news.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=1048&id=461462002 REBELS fleeing the Ugandan army in southern Sudan forced 60 mourners in a funeral procession to eat the corpse they were carrying before gunning them down, an army spokesman said today. The Ugandan army has been trying to stamp out a 15-year insurgency led by self-proclaimed prophet Joseph Kony. "Kony attacked a funeral procession of about 60 people, forced them to cook the corpse and eat it. They were then shot," army spokesman major Shaban Bantariza said.
  20. Very good show, man! The Z looks great. I see you're from Croatia, I may be heading there this summer. I've heard good things about the Dalmation Coast. Any suggestions of places to visit?
  21. I was being sarcastic, it's harder for hawks to dismiss the opinions of generals.
  22. Yes he does, the darn flip-flopper. First he flips off the generals, then he flops in the occupation. Honestly, if you aren't going to listen to the best in your own military, at least pick a place to occupy other than where men are dorks if they don't have an AK-47 collection. Did you like anything the brass had to say? I thought they had some interesting perspectives to share from a military angle.
  23. "Only a few of the reported 5,500 deserters are in Canada, but House says he's getting more calls from nervous soldiers all the time...." http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/12/06/60II/main659336.shtml
  24. You'd care, were it not somewhere far away. Would you still be as unconcerned if Chinese bankers decided our next president? Somehow I doubt it. That is some flowery writing indeed, real Buckley-esque. Despite this, attempting parallels of medieval counterveiling forces and those of today is a tough sell.
  25. Yes, parts are encouraging, others aren't. Before we installed Karzai as interim prez he did an internship with the company now building the pipeline through Afghanistan. Would he be there today, if Karzai wasn't Unocal's prized pony?
