  1. Thanks Joey. As it is right now the car is 425hp/380tq so I'm anxious to see Rick to bump up the timing now that the car is running cool. I'm going to see if he is free next saturday, if not I'll come out to the track if you still plan to go.
  2. From what I heard the car ran into probs being a concept car body that they designed the drivetrain and performance around. Aerodynamically the car was challenged, it acted like a wing and wanted to fly so a lot of r&d time went into keeping it down. Compared to the McLaren, this car is faster (by a few mph) but it takes an additional 400+ hp for the Bugatti to get there.
  3. Thanks Mike, I'm really digging the LS part myself.
  4. Hi everyone, this morning I went over to Synergy Motorsports in Fremont for an sd tune on the RX7 that I recently bought from John aka 'LS1240Z'. The owner, Rick, did a meticulous tune, and LS1Z knows what I mean . The car was running hot (215-225 F operating temp) and so he only got one dyno pull while the car was at 190 F before he had to back the timing off quite a bit to keep it from pinging above 5k. The good news is that once I get the cooling problem handled I'll go back and see him for the performance tune we couldn't finish today. Old: 421whp, 376tq New: 438whp, 410tq MAS280 has the same radiator so I know it can run cooler. I've got a thermostat to install and either shroudwork or a volvo 850 fan in my very near future. Hopefully with a cool motor, synthetic oil, velocity stack and more help from Rick we'll see 450whp next time around. Driveability is fantastic and the cam can be driven down to idle with no bucking. He also tweaked between 1800-2800 rpm (sorta to emulate maf) to help keep mpg up at highway rpm levels. Responsiveness is way up. Anyone looking to get an outstanding tune with an LS1 in norcal needs to see this guy! Thanks go to all the above mentioned Hybrid Z members who've helped me out with the new car!! Brett
  5. I come from a family that is into Italian cars (15 between us) and I can tell you from experience your 302 Z is going to rev up quicker than any we ever owned. When you put a big engine in a light car it will get to redline a lot faster than you think, keep going the way your headed and you'll be fine.
  6. Hey Joey, what were your hp/tq numbers before the sd tuning? I'm trying to get an idea of what I'll pick up from the tune. Thanks, Brett
  7. Congrats Joey, those are great numbers. I have a hunch you went to the same guy that John was telling me about. He sounded like a pro so I'm glad to hear everything went well with the tune. Good luck with the RX7!
  8. Great deal man - air cooled V8 too!(don't see many of them these days)
  9. Thanks John, I'll treat it well and take it easy until I get acclamated to the extra HP. Thanks again man.
  10. Hi everyone, I thought I'd let you all know this RX7 will be relocating to Sacramento. John is a great guy to work with, if all goes well I'll get the car on monday. Best early Christmas I've had in a long time!!
  11. Hi everyone, cubes are why I'm here today. I've been looking around for 383 rotating assemblies and the 3.875 crank keeps making me curious, either for a 395 or 401. I remember grumpy talking about these in old posts on building strokers, what I am looking for is some info if anyone can help. With a 3.875 crank and 6" rods, does anyone know which piston I could use to get between 9.5 and 9.8 compression with 70cc heads? I don't plan to build for monster HP, something streetable that will only rev to 5500rpm or so. Any help or recommendations on rotating assembly component choice is much appreciated. Thanks!
  12. I also run a wc t5 in my Z. It is being spun by a 327 around 400hp/tq through 275 nitto drag radials. I added a countergear stabilizer from gearzone since it was easy and cheap. 1 1/2 years of daily ab-use with no problems whatsoever. $800 total cost from a local shop. Good luck in your decision.
  13. Hi nsadhal, the tires do work wonders on an open diff. My brother lives in Berkeley so I was on my way up the hill to visit him. Last time I was there I met LS1Z, funny you saw me too Mort considering you were down visiting and I'm only on that road once or twice a month. What a small Hybrid Z world it is!! Take care you guys and thanks for the compliments. Brett
  14. NWC and WC tranny cases aren't the same. If you want to have it rebuilt by g-force, start w/ a WC.
  15. Rudy, About the price, I should've said new cars(as in buy it, no mods, drive it). You sure could save some money if we're talking old cars! As for the spot...past Livermore to Mt. Hamilton, not sure what the road is called but I'll ask my brother.
  16. Ug, cracked block...sorry Pete. So much work went into that sucker too. My fingers are crossed for next time, good luck man.
  17. Hi Joey, nice meeting you today. I didn't realize the RX7 I saw at the gas station today was so lucky. I've been doing some swap research on those lately too, always liked those cars so congrats for sure!! Brett
  18. Nice list indeed, I'll have to check some of those out I haven't seen myself. If I could narrow it down to only one horror movie to recommend? THE THING Early 80's John Carpenter film when he was in top form as a director. He also produced the music. Great story, characters, suspense, effects(for the 80's), and one of the few horror flicks with an ending that doesn't go hollywood-style where everything has to be resolved. If you haven't seen it and like horror, have a look. If you already have (and not lately), rent it again.

  20. E=mc2 looks to have been first published by De Pretto in 1903. Einstein did take it up a notch in 1905 by introducing relativity: http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,253524,00.html
