black dragon automotive tension rods
New-to-240z replied to freakshow's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Was wondering . . . do those put a lot of strain on your frame rails? I've heard of the rails cracking because there is no give between the TC rods and the frame rail connections. I used to have the same setup on my 240sx and LOVED the feel, and plus you can adjust the wheel back or forward a little bit as well. ( Great for our Z's cause some peoples wheels hit the front air dam !!) -
Japanese Classic Cars Fun Ride

Damn, I would love to meet up but that's the day I'm moving!!! Maybe next month. -
Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about this TTT Rear end conversion . . . http://www.technotoytuning.com/racing/ I ask because the availability of 240SX and Q45 VLSD's are MUCH MUCH HIGHER and are pretty damn strong. I used to drift my track 240sx only a pretty heavy weekly basis and only went through 2 VLSD's in 3 years time. I wasn't pushing 400HP (More like 280WHP), but it beat the crap out of it and it never failed to amaze me. The setup itself is pretty expensive tho, i think it comes in at around $2700 but you get Backing Plates $550 Moustache bar $250 Lower control Drop mounts with dogbone $300 Dogbone on it’s own $70 Front Diff Mount $150 Axles $480 Struts prepped for coilovers $240 Coilovers for rear strut casings $199 Shocks for rear strut casings $240 Weld on rear camber plates $180 Total : $2,659 And I'm sure you could get their front coilovers as well for a pretty good price as long as your buying the package setup. What do you guys think? You can pickup a good, fairly new Q45 VLSD with a 3.9 rear end for around 150 bucks or so. I'm just looking at all the options available.

This is why I love this site!! You guys rock and probably saved me from having to do a lot of extra work that would have been a pain in the @$$!

So, my driver side roof lining is starting to come apart. It is beginning to droop down where the sunshade sits, and is coming loose where the top left of the windshield is. I was wondering if anyone here found a simple way to fix this? I was thinking of getting some kind of sealent or glue and sticking a needle through and squirting some out and then just apply pressure to the spot for a little while. I would do this to a bunch of spots until I am happy with the outcome. But, I was hoping someone on here might have a better idea. The passenger side is perfectly fine, and I want to keep it that way!! Any ideas?

I was wondering if anyone here ended up buying this piece? This looks EXACTLY like the MSA front air damn. I am VERY interested in this as I'm going for a white/CF look to my 240Z when I get it painted. If anyone knows how the fitment would be that would help out greatly. On a side note . . . is fitting the CF piece the same as fitting a FiberGlass piece? I just want to make sure so that when/IF I do pickup this piece I'll be able to fit it to my car by myself, and won't need to pay a bodyshop to do it for me.

PDK Racing Front and Rear Braces
New-to-240z replied to New-to-240z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I wish!! I love the design of their setup, but I have been unable to get in touch with them in order to purchase a set. I live the rear strut bar, but I need the dimensions of the front in order to see if it will work with my SR20 setup. The intercooler piping may get in the way. But, if they aren't even selling them anyone . . . doesn't really matter. That's why I was hoping someone on here may know someone who sold these for PDK on side side or what not. It would have been perfect. -
Thanx for the heads up. I'm sure that will be a direction I may go. I just found out tho that my dash is a 72 and not a 73!@!@ So I have to go and pickup a replacement dash cap now

PDK Racing Front and Rear Braces
New-to-240z replied to New-to-240z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I think my original question is unclear . . . Does anyone know anyone that is still selling the PDK strut bars? -
Hey guys, I know this is probably just a shot in the dark but does anyone know ANYONE who has a set of front and rear PDK Fabrication strut bars? The design is just perfect and I'm dieing to get my hands on a set! I've already contacted the maker and have gotten no response back from him yet. I think he's just done with making them. Anyway, if anyone can help that would be great. Thanks guys.

Will do. I'm going to try doing all the pre-work myself on my off days/free time. My dash is pretty bad, it has about 4 cracks that are almost 3 inches long and about half an inch wide!!! I hate the sun out here in CA:evil:, but I love the fact that my car has ALMOST NO RUST!!

It isn't a big deal, but having an extra pair of hands will really help out. Plus, I was hoping that someone had been through this before and could just offer advice. But, it shouldn't be too big of a problem. Plus, its always fun to get together with people who love these cars. I've found the owners of Z's are almost always people I can relate to, and enjoy hanging out with. OOooOOooHHHhh, this is going to look soo nice after I install the new seats and the Momo steering wheel! This car is getting sexier and sexier!

I'm prob looking to do this sometime next week or the week after that. It'll be on a sat so if something comes up, we have the time to work on it. I actually live in Mission Viejo, but My family lives in orange and I am always welcome to borrow the garage for a day. I'll let you know what's up when I get the chance.

@TheLoveofJDM : HAHA, well thanx for the offer. @Titus : Hey, southwest airlines is doing their $49 deal right now!! You never know man! @Datsun723 : Are u being serious? Cause u live in temecula! If you're down I'm down! If this ever does happen, I'll be sure to add some pics up and kinda write a how-to. Should be too much work . . . I'm hoping!

yeah I know right!! I'm amazed that no-one is down to do this! I also just got a Momo steering wheel too, but I'm sure I can do that one myself. I'm just looking for an extra pair of hands to help out for the cover.
-
just amazing! Can't wait to find out if I can purchase a set of these for my 240!!

Another set of Sportmax Wheels Mounted
New-to-240z replied to nullbound's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Just wondering, what tool are you using for rolling your fenders? I will be purchasing a set of the 002's or the KONIG Rewinds in 15"x8 or 15"x7 and want to roll my fenders but have never done this before. I have HP's with Eibach springs. ( Also, if anyone lives in SoCal or near-by . . . San Diego, LA . . . could you maybe help me do this for a few beers? haha BEERS AFTER THE ROLLIN. ) -
So, quick question reguarding the radiator support . . . I just installed a new intake for my SR20 swap, that is 3" to the turbo. I decided I wanted to move the filter to the front of the engine bay to allow for the coldest air intake I could get. ( The car is only driven during summer and some days during winter if no rain ) In order for me to actually do this setup, I had to cut out a part of the radiator support frame and was worried that this would have an impact on the chassis strength. I didn't think about it at the time because it was such a small piece, but after going over it, I'm kicking myself in the ass and want to make sure I am safe. . . Here is a pic of where exactly I did the cutting outlined by the thin black line. And circled by the yellow line so you know where to look. ( this pic isn't of my car, but one that i found that would be the best to show where I actually cut. . .) Do you guys think this is going to cause any bending in my frame or any kind of weakening at all? I hope it doesn't, but if it does, I'll take it to my friend or someone and have them weld a line of metal back into there to give it the strength back.

I got my S30 back in May this year. It had been sitting in a garage and driven once every 3 months, for over 18 years. The car has been redone . . New engine ( SR20DET ) and new suspension ( HP's Eibach springs, MSA Sways, F&R strut bars.) and soon to be new paint job ( RSX Gunmetal with black racing stripes down the center ). I have daily driven this thing ever since I had the SR installed. Haven't had a single problem with the car engine wise. I must say though, I really need to get the chassis stiffened, because with the HP and TQ I'll be putting down soon, I'm worried the frame might bend here or there without reinforcement.

Z31 Diff's? Anyone interested?
New-to-240z replied to New-to-240z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Well, price would be the main concern. Her would be doing the swap out himself, and these are GOOD VLSD's. They are much newer then the Z31s ( i think they are 94s or 95s.) and he himself had one in his 240sx for over 4 years with 300 wtq with no problems at all! gripped any and everytime he spun em!. But, the price to get this going would of course be more then a regular Z31 3.7. There is a write-up on these forums somewhere about doing the r200 swap out with the J30. If i can find it i will post it. It isn't much work.
