  1. man... i logged in after all this time hoping there would be some new posts about this car... hope all is going well gijonas.
  2. lol right on... i'm thinkin' about a 1UZ with the full rear out of one of the newer Tundras... should be an interesting build... maybe twin charge it... should go nicely with the 2JZ chevelle that's in the works... nice info, hopefully they'll come up with stuff like this for the 1UZ too!!!
  3. both of the S30s available in forza 2 are dubbed as Fairlady Zs
  4. i just completed a BRE clone, minus what's under the door glass it was too small for me to try at the moment, anyways! i've got it all set up to produce them a #46 BRE Fairlady free of charge to anyone who wants to gift me their Z Gamertag: Stolen Nametag. just send me a message on xbox if you'd like one. Forza 2 only, sorry guys...
  5. i would honestly go with the 260z as for the ac get the 260 system, two windows at sixty-miles an hour. yeah i know the wind can kill you either way, i did it in las vegas for years. which car is best for him requires a little more consideration... what does he want the car for? what is he planning to do with it, modification minded? he might want the 260z just for the price, with a friend who hangs around here:icon46:
  6. HAHA I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING!!! isn't the new SS based off a 1500? that looks more like a SSR or a custom elky...
  7. also; what kind of budget are you on, power levels, etc. they're all very important in an engine choice. i've found the best way to do it is lay out what i want from the engine, then lay out the parts it's going too take to make it happen, last check it with the budget. obviously not everything is going to mesh the way you'd like it too, but you can make your "sacrifices" at that point without risking messing up your entire build. just my 0.02
  8. JFC THANKS FOR THAT! couldn't go this year and i was pretty bummed, glad to see you went and took tons of pics THANKS!!!
  9. haha agreed x10 'sides it's more fun to build your own! op whatever you go with congrats, looking forward to the write up.
  10. llave is right from my memory when i was in school in fremont... an instructor of mine informed us that you can only swap a stock offered engine into the car. the kit and hobby cars are the only post 74 bypasses that i can think of in california... i could remember this wrong as well, but last i checked smog legality on a registered street vehicle in california is pretty tough to bypass.
  11. revival you say? interesting... Eugene, Oregon here. i actually signed in to make this post haha... been pretty hectic around here lately, nice to be shown yet again that the Z community is strong here in oregon.
  12. haha well.. uhm... yeah i don't think i actually thought of that part... then there's the small issue of my flawless grammar "can i'll" ...i need more sleep - .- hope all is going well with the project though!!
  13. great idea!!! how about gijonas... care to make some molds for those of us... smitten with the car's beauty? hell i'd buy a pair before i manage to get everything else prepped for the car!!! ok maybe not quite, but close! can i'll come over and help you get it all finished just to see the finished product -nudge nudge-
  14. i used 58cc chambers on an aluminum head with hyupertectic pistons (around 10.5:1 compression) a 208 / 221 degrees @ 0.050 lift lift cam in a standard 350 with forged rods and a billet crank... 2,500 stall with a TCI streetfighter 3spd auto trans and a 3.77 rear gear ... made a good 300+hp and 400+ ft/lbs when all was said and done... listen to theese guys recommendations. what you really should do first and foremost is lay out your build... block, crank, rods, pistons, heads, cam, intake, carb since they all work in combos. if you have the time and money build your car around the engine instead of building the engine around the car... alot of budgets don't allow it but your car will be alot happier on the street if built that way, i kinda learned that one the hard way with my chevelle... thus it sitting in the driveway flaunting it's mystery hole in the oil pan... but when you're four states away from your car it's kind-of hard too tear it apart eh? best of luck in your build. if you need any help with your car in general lemmie know since we're both proud owners of great chevys ^.-
  15. it looks alot like the TPI engine but i'm not 100% it's either that or an early gen conversion... it reaaaaaaaaaaaally looks like an upgraded TPI though.. not chevy's best factory endevour IMO.
  16. if you're serious about getting a crate engine IMO your best bets would be: http://www.GMperformanceparts.com http://www.summitracing.com http://www.jegs.com http://www.coasthigh.com since this is your first time and all i recomend getting a replacement 305/350 instead of worrying about a high end engine. i've heard great things about the ZZ4 350 crate from GM performance and the install is supposed to be remarkably easy as well.
  17. i was thinking the exact same thing haha. like everyone, including myself, have said go for it but stick with the easier engines. maybe instead of doing the swap for your project, since you're underequpied and unexperienced, why not build the engine? 5k for a well built SBC is not unreasonable, dig around the boards here for performance information on the parts combinations and build the engine!!! you can get chilton's manuals that detail the assembly of a SBC start to finish, i've known guys with no experience that rebuilt their engines using theese manuals!! you can also get some great performance out of the L6, especially with all the suspension mods you could do with the money. so the choice is yours and there's alot of good ideas floating around here, DON'T LOSE HOPE.
  18. that's fantastic, another great contribution grumpy. brake prop valves can be alotta fun eh!
  19. exactly i mean even if nobody else wants to see the pics, i still want 'em!! haha, what are you planning on for paint? and i can't wait to see how the front turns out.
  20. aww i saw you on another post and it brought back that craving to see this car finish, WE DEMAND NEW PICTURES!!!! it's making me wanna get off my rump and pickup my Z sooner rather than later, i was going to strip the chevelle to nothing and use it as the donor and sell off the other parts until i can build a better engine for it, now i'm tempted to just go right out of pocket on one... SO GORGEOUS!
  21. gijonas you're one to talk about butchering them, i still can't get that gorgeous wide body you're doing out of my head!!!! ...speaking of i think i'm gunna head over to that post and see if there's anything new on that! Rsxtypesslow; honestly man you said you're currently a junior? pickup the JTR manual and read it over the summer, it's a fantastic source of information.
  22. i couldn't agree with dsommer more... dedicate a few hours to browsing the boards/member projects and you'll learn alot of what goes into the cars. do you already have the car? do you have a donor, or are you piecing your drivetrain together? have you ever done anything like this before? do you have the proper space and equipment for the task? not to put you down but you really need to ask yourself theese kinds of questions before you jump into a project like this. as for the budget... i'm not much older than you and i've learned the hardway that budgets are just starting places... you end up sucking it up and moving on. don't skimp out on the stuff you need, it also helps to lay out how much you have for each part. if you're new to engine swaps etc. i would recommend an earlier gen V8 than a LTI or LS1 that adds alot of complexeties to the whole thing. you can PM me at any time and i'll offer you any thing i can, the people here will do all they can to help you. welcome to the board.
  23. ouch it's great to have experienced guys who've been through this stuff willing to help out those of us who haven't been there, done that. i'm going to try setting the shed up then build a frame and such inside it, i don't own the house so i don't want to set up something permanent yet, if i need help i know where to turn!!
