  1. Thanks for the pcv photos. Like to see it all buttoned up! Also want to see what kind of times your gonna do with that nasty machine.
  2. Hey Josey. Can you get me a pic of you pcv setup? Id like to see how it came out.
  3. What? Did I get shunned for just thinking about selling my z? Haha. I've gotten a few offers. Highest was 10k. Not worth it to me. As I'll never find another z this clean. Or some of the deals I've gotten for parts. So calm down I was just testing the water! Needless to say it wasent right yet. I'm gonna look into doing a head job. Along with new lifters and maby a cam as I'm getting a slight knock on the right side after its been running. What I've read is a lifter can be getting stuck. Ive read horror stories about stock springs breaking and destroying stuff. Work has been busy so I haven't had much of z life. What coil over spring rates are you all running? I just installed some 250lb springs and damn its stiff.
  4. Haha thanks Keith! No I'm doing great. Sounds like a great offer. I'm not board or Burt out I'm just curious what kinda cash these cars bring. I know its scary talking about selling it. Honestly doubt I will. But just thought I'd see. I posted it locally and am taking offers to see how much I will be offered. 9k is my Hughes offer so far.
  5. Just testing waters. Yea I figured that. Just curious what these cars go for.
  6. Thinking about selling the z..... what do you all think its worth?
  7. Well said Keith. Some people say the Z is the poor mans corvette. Well this proves it not. More like the poor mans Bugatti haha. Even at that a well running hybridz is not really cheap. Com paired to modern supercar prices yes...
  8. That's really cool. I bet they are worth some change for once. What's the lowest vin you have tony?
  9. Wow #2. Awesome tony. Maby one day I'll come across a worthy low vin.
  10. Looken at a 1970 240z with a 4800 vin. Car is in ruff shape. Is it even worth the effort to get it back on its feet? Its been sitting for years. The motor is original and is not frozen. Let me hear your two cents!
  11. If its the c5 I believe its just about an inch...its the one I want I.
  12. Smart move. Your a smart guy so I'm shur your way ahead of me on this. When I redid my pan and cover gaskets I aimed for having the front main seal centered as much as possible one the crank. While keeping the front cover level and within spec. for the gap tolerable when you install the pan. I finger tightened the front cover bolts and bumped it around to get the fit right. A machined 1x1x2 or 3 helps a lot . Glad to hear its progressing!
  13. Ill look into the drag tires. It just stopped raining here. The news says it supposed to be the last bit for awhile. Its raining about once a month right now. The 195s hook up quite well really. But in 1st n 2nd i have to go really easy. Yea i have no clue on what to do at tye track scene. Total noob. I honestly could see myself chasing fractions of a second and spending money to do it. Maby its best i dont lol. I have 250lb springs in the back and 175lb in the front with adjustable shocks. Honestly with my shocks all the way up and with the 250lb springs the car drives like a loaded semi. Bouncy. I turned down the hocks and its still bouncy but not where ima lose control from it. I know a guy running 450lb springs in a 260 with a 302. That must be fun. I rather have a smoother ride then less body roll n wheel hop as its a street car for me. Im not raching it evertime i go out. Even when i pull on a four pot honda it still works fine.
  14. That is true. I havent got into the drag scene yet. So for now its just a street machine. I do belive i wont have to "sacrifice" so much with 245s compaired to the pizza cutter 195s i have now.
  15. Well Its been sometime now and my car is running great! Im especially happy tonight as i finally got my speedo working. Yes its been awhile and i have no idea how far ive gone but its 5 miles deep as of now haha. I tore the dash apart tring to find the break in the wire and finally found a bad connector. A streched out back, scrached hands and a beer or two later I got it back togeather. It was 4am before i got it done and I said screw it im testing it out. Rolled down the street to my spot that I use to calibrate the speedo and started the process. Needles to say i smiled almost as much as when this thing first started up, when the LCD display started taking signal. Its spot on too. The wounderful world we live in with smart phones helped me assure this. I also swapped in my CV axles finally. I ended up getting the axles from Josey (sunnyz) if anybodys woundering where they went...lol. They are very nice but i think they are more for a disk brake setup as i had fun getting my bottom spring on for the brake shoes. I dont have any cusome axles. Just flipped the cages and use two driver side axles. I swapped over one end that goes into the diff. as the passenger one has a longer shaft on it. No issues yet! Swapped in some heavier spring in the back as i was getting alot of wheel hop if i triend to light them up. Damn cars are so light though... Id advise people to check out the cab feed wire off the starter. Its where the car basically get all its 12v power from. Its about 10awg,white and has a clip. Mine about melted and caused my car to die. The clip connector was corroded so bad it was causing alot of resistance. Resistance causes heat and that dont do well for old plastic. I replace it and eliminated the connector all togeather. My lights are brighter now too. Something ive been kicking around in my head is doing flairs. As i want to run my 245's i have sittting around. Maby get a lil more out of first n second. Its hard cutting up my car! But i shur love the look! Anybody have a say on where to get a good set of flairs?
  16. Thanks for the info peeps. If anybody can post a few pics of their setup it would be nice.
  17. Looking to get a nice line lock. Wanted to get peoples opinion on whats good out there. Or what to look for when getting one. Jim
  18. Well your datsun "body" harness is untouched really. As you leave the harness in the car that runs your lights and accesories. All you really do is have the harness that comes with your motor reworked into a stand alone harness. Along with having the pcm from you ls programmed. You dont touch your stock datsun harness much except for taping and securing off the obviouse stuff you wont need like the ingnition coil wires. Call up John at speartech and he will walk you threw what you need. Aslo read up on what a stand alone harness is. if you have a swap motor already with the harness and pcm your set.
  19. The harness is just for the power train. Keep in mind if you want to delete the emissions stuff and vats. (Vehicle anti theft system) you will need to have the pcm flashed. I used speartech to do all my harness and pcm work. They made a standalone harness and flashed the pcm with a performance tune and all the cats and emissions stuff for around 700$. Great people and decent turn around.
  20. I have the stock f body pan and with jci mounts its about a inch and a half below the front crossmember. I would not get anything taller then the f body pan. I want to get a c5 rear sump pan as i can save about an inch. Unless you mod the jci mounts or build your own. Ground clearance is an issue. I scrapped a speedbump today and about crapped my pants lol. Goodluck!
  21. Oh one more thing. If you live in CA make shur its pre 75. Last i heard 76 and newer you have to smog.
