  1. Anyone done it? I have been looking and this swap has really got me going! Will I be the first or has someone already done this? If anyone has, ANY tips would be great. I have a few questions though. Can anyone get me a pic of the engine mounts? I am not looking for a pic of the JCI mounts as I realise that there was a heck of a lot of development and they dont want them shown. I am looking for how approx location of mounts on the block itself. Engine, Loom, computer and tranny. Thats all I need? Except of course for the "While I am at it" stuff. But totally boiled down that would be it? A bigger bank balance, Can anyone supply me with one of these? THanks for any help
  2. Hey There, Just a couple of quick Qs for the you guys. I am stripping back my 280zx ad I am thinking seriously about a rotisserie to do the whole job properly. If I do this, what is the best way to mount it to the rotisserie? I ask cause it is a T-top car and I am not sure about body flex it i use just the bumper mounts. I could just see gettin it up there and then suddenly have it sag in the middle! What are your thoughts?
  3. Saw you guys on the news the other night. Scared the crap outa my family, hollered "thats the RIPS car!" So you planning on bringing it down to CHCH at some stage? Well done!
  4. Hey there, Quick question on a honda integra. When driving all the warning lights come on. I think this is a bung alternator, but I am not sure. It has a new battery as it was having a hell of a time starting. The new battery stopped it from happening for a couple of days and now the orignal problem is back. Any thoughts would be great! CHeers!
  5. Well now I have my 280zx totally stripped and I find out that I am moving. So I guess I get to pack it all up and change garages (great thing though is the new one is alot bigger!!). Any suggestions? I have it totally stripped, just the windscreen and brake lines still in the car! Cheers
  6. Very TImely thread. I am 25 and looking to go back and study. late start I know! I just wasnt working well when I finished school and there was no way I would have taken college seriously. Now i am just wondering what I want to do with the rest of my life and it seems that ME is really where I should be! Thanks for all the info here.
  7. Hey there, I replaced the rack boots on my Z31 with some off the shelf generic ones. I didnt realise when I brought them but they were to big, I was still able to trim them down to fit diameter wise but the length was too much. I was stupid and trusted the parts monkey when he said they will be fine. Should have thought about it myself. My Fault! The boots it seems created a hell of a vaccuum (from what I can tell) and have managed to screw up the seals. It is so bad that turning the wheels form lock to lock the PS fluid can be heard being sucked past the seals. then back to other lock and it squirts out! Question is do whats the easiest way to replace the seal? DO I meed to pull the rack or can it be done with it still in the car? Cheers!!
  8. The girlfriend just got herself a new(er) car. 1994 Pulsar. Its the MI model so a GA15DS so twin cam but a carb. Here she is thinking oh nice and cheap to run and here I am thinking Hmmm an SR20DET would fit in there quite nicely. Its black and just had a pro cut and polish it. Looks very nice, Serviced properly since new, not a drop of carbon in the top end of the engine and all the fluids look brand new. I am very happy with it and pics will follow soon!
  9. Any ideas? I have a sneeky thought it might be the timing. would that cause issues such as this?
  10. Hey just want to get a general feeling on these guys, Service Quality and fit. Any good, any bad? Main reason is that I am in New Zealand and have pretty much no support for Zs over here other than a few clubs. Looking at the rear fenders for a 280zx. Mine have nice panels made of bondo. Totally rusted out around the fuel filler and that sorta thing.
  11. Did you turn in your plates when you sent that car to the wreckers? Someone may have brought just the plates back from the dead.
  12. I gots a problem! its an 86 300zx. It will start fine and then run pretty nice until the engine warms up. Once it warms up it stumbles uneder 2000rpm like a..... I am a little lost on where to start. This isnt a fun problem as this car is my daily driver at the moment and it is a little scary sometimes when you have to get off the line, also not a nice ride! Any help would be great
  13. We all pretty much know where the S30's rust. How about a list of where our cars most commomly get the metal cancer? I have a good amount of rust but not sure if it is common.
  14. Looks great, most of those cars are a dime a dozen here in NZ as well. You just dont get the great wrecking yards! At least in christchurch. Looks like you had a real car holiday, that would be a great way to spend some time!
  15. Hey there, I would really go to carfiche.com and get the FSM. there are so many things it could be. Have you run the self check on the ECU? Thats where I would start.
  16. True on that, but we also just traded my moms Z32. For a Rover 75. And here there are actually quite alot of car sales guys who are mostly honest. He said that he would buy it from us then on sell it. My thoughts were "why the heck should he get all the money for it?" I will try to find out myself! There is no way I would let someone take a car without payment in full, up front!
  17. Hey there, My mom has had a car sales guy asking about my dads Z31. He says it could be worth quite a bit in Japan. Any thoughts on this? its an 86 manual, T-tops Non turbo Cheers!
  18. But all of the freestyle running I have seen on TV they dont go anywhere near vehicles. I say just fine the parents a third of annual income if thier kids are jack asses more than once or twice!
  19. Sorta like the idea of the 180sx rear (i think) with the 240Z front end on it, that custom was sweet!
  20. I think you can safely say that you won there!
  21. I had just had my head cleaned up and was off to camp, I didnt want to leave it in the garage or anywhere people would get at it. So my mom found it IN my bed!! All tucked up and safe
  22. and of course I guess the other bonus is you get to buy new tools!
  23. You probably have neither the skills or the tools required to complete it? I think I might be at this crossroad now with my 280ZX. I have found rust in place that I dont have the foggiest what I am doing, if I am following the right sequence or where to start! Really now all i need is some insparation. the more I pull off th more i think that I will have to do a Mull style rebuild but the wiring harness and storage are my main worries. Just needed to vent!
