Digital pics ROTA RBR Royal Hyper Black
Floorless240z replied to madkaw's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
that's hyper black? damnit. looks too light. i just want some black centers. why don't they just have stupid black -
didn't read the whole thread. take the msf course before you do anything don't get anything bigger than a 600 or 650. I would recommend buying used; the less you have invested in your first bike, the better. There's an old saying; "it's not if you go down, it's when." Do you want to dump a 3k bike or an 8k bike? don't go with ss bikes. gs500, katana, honda cbr600 f2 or f3, yamaha fzr600, yamaha yzf 600, mid 90's kawasaki ninja 600s, etc.

not sure but there was a similar color used on the e46 m3

Rebirth of a Road Racer

nice writeup, expensive writeup. keep it going -
that site seems to have some cool stuff. what's the DOHC custom head all about?
-
what about like 2500 as is? I would hate to part it out, it's so nice. do people still buy bare bones chassis for ~$500+? can't let a clean Z go to the junker just cause I could use the coin. where is the convention this year? I may be down for the glen in august, hopefully I can sell this, pick up my uncles car and get brakes on it by then. if not, I can always drive my daily

Ew, the chrome trim on the covers is pretty uggo. Are there any without, or a way to mount them otherwise? I guess they could just be painted black eh? e30 is off the road, I pulled the m20 and an s50 will go in, likely not til next year though. here it is at the glen. This was about 3 years ago. I pulled in, full of camping gear. Someone ran in front of my car and yelled STOP! I thought I had hit something! Turns out it was one of the GRM guys, asking me "WHERE THE F()CK DID YOU GET AN E30 TOURING?!?!" and for good measure here I am at the Glen trackday following the Z meet in Syracuse. Typical; I beat em all in the corners, then get raped on the straight. Damn I need to get an rb26 (I'm in the gunmetal 240z, front of the pack) oh, and here's the 72 I'm selling. Complete just taken apart. jambs painted, no rust, uncracked dash. I'm thinking 3k without the wheels, what do you guys think? I know its kinda tough to tell from one pic

damnit. it is at the bottom of my priority list, $700 is 1/3 of the s50 I will be putting into my e30 touring next time I spend money. yes, the car I'm selling as well as my uncle's that I'm picking up are in Buffalo. My dad, uncle and I have about 7 Z cars between us, all in Buffalo also, are there any threads with pics of the g nose? I was never a big fan and am trying to talk myself into it (worst case scenario I ditch it for a stock front). Searched and didn't come up with anything

So my uncle offered me a pretty good deal. He's got a 73, 5 speed, rebuilt bottom and top end L24, new dual webers, lowered, flared fenders, g nose, 3 piece rear lip spoiler, decent recent repaint. 2500 down, pay him the remaining 2500 when I can. SO I'd sell my 72, pick up his car, put my sparcos in, get a roll bar, get some brakes (I have ross' rear kit, but I may try and go the 350z brembo route, thats another discussion though). So after all that; do they make headlight covers that fit g nose cars?

What is my 240z worth?

I didn't think this belonged in the classifieds as I'm just trying to ascertain an asking amount for my z (it's actually my dads). He has a '72 240z, 45k original miles. Originally lime green; now sitting in primer. A few small spots of surface rust from sitting in primer for 3 years, but no major rust issues by any means uncracked dash everything is there and original. car runs and drives fine all the glass is there floor pans, frame rails, battery tray, hatch area, etc all clean (no rust) the interior is mostly there and in ok shape. I'm sure we could piece together a whole interior (we have 5 240z's and 2 additional parts cars between my dad, uncle and I) My dad has 3 Z cars himself. He was in the process of restoring this one when he picked up a shell and a 2.8 motor from a guy down the street (small world) which is what he's been focusing his efforts on. He was keeping this car for his dad, however his dad's health prevents him from likely ever being able to drive again, hence the sale. What should we ask? I was thinking ~$4k? I'll have pics up in a few days, just looking for general ideas

read all the way through that thread and others linked in that thread seems there is no real solution. looks like it will jus tbe a sunday driver. damn.

this top secret motor was also fuel injected- had an maf, and said it had a computer (not sure if it was a stock ecu or some sort of piggyback or standalone). what kind of numbers could you get with an e31 head and L28 block fuel injected? I'm just looking to have something a little more streetable. due to the exhaust smell, the 6 240z's in my family only get driven once in a while. I want something I can drive somewhere and not smell like exhaust fumes, so it seems fuel injection is the way to go.
-
it is real, i saw one yesterday at the convention. only time he popped his hood all weekend i guess. specs?
-
I am quite curious, as I have never heard of it, and apparently there is a 3.1 rolling around w/an e33 head... +couple posts down I posted a question I have about converting a Z to fuel injection

How to get a hold of Ross at MM
Floorless240z replied to Floorless240z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
ross- i dont know what is going on with my e-mail, you must still not be getting the messages. Can you send me a pm on here when you get the chance? thanks -
My dad just called me and said he picked up an 83 280zx motor and tranny for his 240. it needs a clutch and flywheel. I know the clutch's have to be different, but are the flywheels? manual tranny i dont know as i've never seen the two flywheels. if they are not different, anyone know where I could source one? thanks

a couple years ago a friend of mine got me into bikes. he convinced me to take the msf course with him we both did, and we both got bikes. we both rode with safety in mind, always being careful and always wearing gear. he's dead now, highsided and broke his neck the guy riding with him at the time took it pretty hard. put his bike up for sale and everything he died a couple weeks ago on tuesday. some ******* in a jeep couldn't take the time out of his busy schedule to turn his head 90 degees to the left before turning. there were no skid marks, the bike didn't even have enough time to react and pull the brakes I haven't really ridden since my friend died. he knew all the good roads, I just followed. not really worth it for me to risk my life anymore. almost got killed twice in two days following the second death im selling my bike, i was gonna keep it for trackdays but i need cash. maybe i'll pick up another bike in the future, but no street. only track also, 600cc is more than you'll ever need. i have a 99 r6 with jetted carbs/m4 header&exhaust/k&n filter/520 chain conv w/vortex sprockets, and it is more than I could ever need with a litrebike, the power is always there. with a 600cc, its tame from idle-10k, and then 10k-15.5k pulls so hard. so if i want to go fast, I keep it in the high rpms. or i can stay low, and get great gas mileage whatever you decide, take the msf course. but I will tell you that it's dangerous, and you have to pay attention 100% of the time. and even then, it's the other people you have to worry about. cause they don't even look.
