  1. Really? I just picked mine up today and they didn't seem that bad.... Oh well, all the more reason to replace them with aftermarket buckets with... what's that called.... Oh yeah, "bolstering"
  2. I tend to doubt it, as I found it very difficult to even find a used 75-76 tank. I do have a used one if you can afford the shipping
  3. I briefly owned an E30 325i last year and it got me thinking of doing a BMW straight six in an S30. Their motors are just so amazing, and it would be a challenging and rewarding swap for whoever has the guts to do it!
  4. Believe me, in no way was I trying to spark another witch hunt, I was just passing on what looked like current news. Every thread related to the TC24-B1 on this forum seems to end with "they're not making them; we've asked... Deal with it." So I was under the impression that this might be valuable info to some people. I don't recall in any of the previous threads any mention that they were available to "those that have the money and desire", or that they were sold as a complete engine unit, so that's news to me. There's no need to argue whether the head/engine is any good or whether its worth the money. It's obviously not about performance value for those that would be interested. It's really about exclusivity. I'm sure the guy who bought the Bob Sharp Racing valve cover for $2k a couple years back wasn't thinking "boy, I'm gonna get so much horsepower from this baby!" -Then again, maybe he was.... I dunno, guys.
  5. Just wondering; I'm pondering the idea of buying a well-built car and saving myself the time, money, and headache of doing everything myself...
  6. I'll believe it when I see it, as we all know that people have been trying to convince them for decades: http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/07/27/gallery-gt-gt-a-quick-stop-os-giken.aspx Quick exerpt: "Ok this is where people with L-series engines will faint. Finally, OS Giken has decided to do another limited production run of the TC24-B1 head! It's not quite sure how many will be produced but with such high demand anyone wanting to secure one should get in there quick!" I'll tell you one thing, it would sure be nice! I can only imagine what pricing will be...
  7. If you bought it already built, did you pay more or less than $15k, if you don't mind telling? I'm guessing more, judging by the looks of it
  8. Does the ignition key unlock the doors as well? Does it fit in the glovebox but just not unlock it? If so, you might consider finding the key code on the door cylinder, going to a locksmith, and having him make a shiny new key for you. It could be that the key is just too worn to turn the tumblers inside the lock
  9. Haha no I was actually wearing an MR2 shirt on day 1 (until it got soaked through and I got a free Corvette shirt) and a Mazda shirt on day 2 (until I sweated it off and got a free Loctite shirt), lol.
  10. The first pic is showing up rotated on my computer, I edited it on photobucket to get it straight up and down but it doesn't seem to be showing.... dunno why
  11. I just got back from watching the American Le Mans Series Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park (what a mouthfull!) and while poking around the vendors' section, I found a copy of November 1970's Road & Track. Unfortunately I don't have a scanner or a good camera right now, but here's a few crappy pics for those who haven't seen it, and I'll try to get some better ones up soon:
  12. That oil/water heat exchanger looks like a great idea! The 1st gen MR2's came stock with them; I never thought of running one on the Z though! It would sure save a lot of plumbing and routing headaches...
  13. I'll let you know if I can't find anything else. I'll also take a complete oil-cooled T3 (rebuild needed or not) if the exhaust housing has no cracks!
  14. I've got one that will need to be refinished. Its mostly rust free on the outside but has some rust inside from sitting in my shed. It was originally from AZ. LMK if interested
  15. I've got a pedal set from a 280ZX, they look very similar... I can check to see if it'll fit as I have my car pretty much apart
  16. If any of these fall through I'm also looking for $300 plus shipping from MA 02050. I've got a T5 with 144k on it, previous owner said it worked perfectly
  17. Looing good! How much did it run you to blast the car, and what type of media did they use? I am dying to do it to my car, although since its from VT originally I'm afraid its going to come back with quite a few holes...
  18. Congrats on that feature! I told all my friends "hey look at this freakin' sweet Z with an RB swap!"
  19. I'm looking for a clean, crack-free exhaust housing for the OEM T3 oil-cooled turbo off the 280ZX, and possibly a damage-free inlet compressor wheel. Please include pictures and asking price shipped to 02050. Thanks!
  20. Call me weird, but I kinda like the old steel wheels; those and the white-lettered tires made it look like a race car, kinda. I like the new wheels, too
  21. I think the owner played WAY too much Need for Speed Underground and watched The Fast and the Furious one too many times before building that car.
  22. I can't even imagine the f**kshow that would ensue if you tried to put gullwing doors on an S30. The top frames are way too frail to bare the weight of the bottoms. Unless you replaced them with something completely new out of composite material (carbon fiber or fiberglass) and reinforce the chassis to make up for the rigidity lost by cutting the roof, you'd basically just be wasting a perfectly good car. S130 with T-tops, maybe, but again they have frameless windows so you'd have to fabricate entirely new doors. My opinion, save your money and buy MORE GO FAST PARTS!
  23. History lesson, boys! Brock Racing Enterprises: http://www.bre2.net/ And you call yourselves Datsun enthusiasts, pshhh!
  24. ugh, of course it's the cartech manifold, If only he were selling an HKS..... i've already got the weber 40's, turbo block and parts, and intercooler, just need a good manifold!!!
  25. I was surprised to find out just how few Z cars were sold in Europe back in the 70's. Anyhow, congratulations on your purchase, and your written English is probably better than half the people in America can manage, so don't worry!
