I'm from Ft. Lauderdale which is about 45 minutes North of Miami, but right now I am at school in Orlando which is about 3 hours north of Ft. Lauderdale. Unfortunately I do not currently have a car so I'm kinda stuck up here for now If I get home anytime soon, I will e-mail you guys and will gladly do it for you but as for now I guess I'm kinda worthless But I'll be sure to let you guys know if I'm in that area in the near future.

My brother just called me this morning to say that he was riding around in his friends real Type R and they raced their other friends 350Z. He said they won by a considerable margin, which I found hard to believe, but then again I have no reason to believe my brother would bs me. I always kinda wrote them off as rice-mobiles and ignored them, maybe I should reconsider my stance...

yeah, pretty heavy, but still decent performance and that would be awesome for a velo rossa, you could really fool some people

Hey guys, I've been in the hunt for a new daily driver and I was wondering how hard it would be to swap a VG30DETT (JDM or Domestic) into a 2+2 or any NA Z32. I just saw a JDM VG30DETT half cut on ebay with a buy it now of $2500, and theres a guy on ZCar.com selling a 1990 2+2 Z32 auto (supposedly in immaculate condition but not driveable) for $3500. Total before any labor or extra parts necessary would be $6000 for a fast, low mileage, 2+2 (which I would prefer because I need some extra room) and the insurance company would see it as an NA, so a little cheaper insurance. So what I want to know is can this be done, and if so, could I do it myself or would I need professional assistance. I can do most of the work on my L24 or a SBC, but looking under the hood of a Z32TT just scares me. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Man, ricers are such a joke. I used to catch them racing all the time, then pass both of them with ease in my old Cadillac. They would be at WOT and see my 4000 lb. sedan go flying by them, then after I've passed them both I start slowing down and get the royal ricer flyby, hazard lights and all. They just can't accept defeat!

all i can think of is that it must be some kid messing around who thought he would be able to call a Z rice and make fun of them with the LS1.com guys the way they usually do with imports. but this guy struck a nerve and didnt realize the kind following that the Z cars have. also, whats this garbage about the Z cars "not making it" as he seems to believe. the Z car is either the or one of the best selling sports cars of all time. what an idiot!

I agree, you gotta go where the demand is! Look at the HybridZ logo on the top left corner of the screen, IMO underneath the word Hybrid is a good explanation of why this kind of stuff doesn't sell well here. Personally, I would go to ZCar.com since that is where more of the Datsun loyal and restoration crowd hang out. Oh well, just my 2 cents

Didn't see this posted so I thought you guys would get a kick out of this. It's a thread on LS1.com where some guy with a Fiero starts bashing on Z cars. Other LS1 people chime in against him to produce some hillarious results. They also mention V8 Z's several times throughout and has pictures of Terry Oxandale's Z. Mostly flaming back and forth from the Fiero guy, but scrolling through it was pretty amusing. Beware, very very long thread! Enjoy! http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=223898&perpage=15&pagenumber=1

Foolishness From Street Racing - Video Inside
Jay1970Z replied to slownrusty's topic in Non Tech Board
What a MORON! Man that was funny. Listen to all the kids there, "Oh my god he almost hit the Type R", "He came this close to the Type R", "Hes lucky he didn't hit that Type R". Sounds like its the greatest thing in the world to them lol. Nice extensive use of the "F" word. Common practice in the rice world. -
I was just looking at some random stuff this afternoon and stumbled across this. http://www.autospeed.com/A_1583/page1.html I couldn't read the other half of the article because you have to be a member of the site it's on, but I thought you guys might find it interesting.

man i would love to go around thrashing some stangs and f-bodies with that thing. i'd put a huge aluminum wing on it, functional of course, some neon lights, LED's wherever i could put them, and put a sticker that says type SBC on it. rice no more my friends

where do you find this stuff??

thanks guys, I wasnt looking for a GN in particular, but I didnt know there were that many differences between the years, in fact, I really didnt know anything about them at all. I had just seen them on autotrader for $10k+ and assumed that this might be a good deal considering the amount of people checking it out. I would never buy a car without giving it a thorough inspection (in daylight) and without a test drive, so I told the guy I'd call him today, but after hearing what you all had to say, I don't think I will. Thanks for your help!

couldnt get it to load either... are you referring to the renault espace f1 van? from what i understand its basically a formula one with a minivan grafted on top of it lol

i looked into the whole porsche hybrid thing, but the conversion kits for them arent cheap, around 2500 dollars for a 944 kit i believe from www.renegadehybrids.com. I thought about doing either a 944 or a 928 instead of a Z but kinda lost interest. I originally thought about a 928 because they are cheap and all over the place around here, and they can handle the torque of a built small block pretty wall I would imagine, and it seems like a relatively easy swap since it already had like a 5.0L porsche V8. A local guy here was selling a late 60's porsche 912 with a crate 350 in it. My dad and I went down and checked it out, and I wasnt all that impressed. I loved the looks of the car, but it was just too weird seeing a backwards small block in the back of that tiny porsche. also, it probably won't last long because he was having major cooling problems. Another thing was the transaxle. Something was not quite right with it, must've been the way it adapted to the 350, because the guy selling it was a BIG dude, and even he was struggling trying to shift gears.

i agree with Tim, my Cadillac was jet black and after a fresh waxing it looked spectacular. After a couple of days, all the dirt and grime in the world would show up, and handprints were the worst! On my next Z I think I'm going with jet black with red racing stripes, I just like the idea of that, although it could change at any time also, you can never go wrong with just plain old red!

Hey guys, today at a local weekly car show I came across a guy selling a 1985 GN with 70k miles for $7300 bucks. Does this sound like a good deal? I don't know anything about GN's but a guy there was saying that the '85s were no good, something about not being intercooled. It looked like it was in really good shape, had one small spot of rust on the drivers side door, but I couldn't check it out really good because it was dark. Didn't hear it run either, but the guy said it ran great (of course he would). Lots of people were asking the seller questions and writing down the phone number. I think I will give him a call first thing in the morning if this sounds like a good deal. So is there anything in particular I should know about this year GN, or anything I should look for if I check it out tomorrow? It would be a big help if you guys could give me some pointers. Thanks in advance!

yeah, i spent like two hours reading their whole "saga" yet from the very beginning, i knew how it would turn out. just makes me glad i spend all my time here at HybridZ...
-
yeah just wait till that thing warps, or catches on fire or something, now THAT would be a funny sight! Well, this guy was pretty smart, I bet that his auction has had the most looks ever for an '83 Sentra. Great job of marketing to reach a mass audience!

Hopefully this hasn't been posted yet. Searched the different non-tech forums to make sure and didn't find it, so here ya go? I guess you could call this a "hybrid". Things not to do to an Eclipse - VIEW AT OWN RISK

all those "aero mods" must make him an autocrossing monster. don't you just love all that "racing grade" fiberglass, which is all fully functional of course.
