  1. I sketched up this diagram of the cooling system to help me visualize how the cooling system flows. I thought it might help other people here. Let me know if I screwed something up. Constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement are welcome and expected .
  2. Here are mine. 14x7 6 slot. I don't think I have ever seen another set of 6 slot slotted mags.
  3. Sure, I have no need for it now. Sending PM.
  4. I can confirm that the a/c bracket with the boss(es) is from a zx. I have two of the brackets: one on my 240 and one spare . Also, I didn't see you mention it but there is another boss exactly like it higher up. Both of them are unused on my 240. I will be following this thread as I have the same dilemma - I live in the Houston area so I must have a/c yet I want edis too! Cheers, Ross
  5. crossember for r200 lsd mod. i need one myself .
  6. This forum is a great resource. Thanks!
  7. Hi, I am turboing an l24/p90. I am wondering which year head gasket would best for this setup. Should I use an l24 or l28 gasket? If l28 then which one? 75 - 2/81 or 3/81 - 83? I have read that Nissan blocked off some coolant holes with the head gasket on the later engines. I assume this was done to improve cooling. Are the coolant holes on all the blocks the same? Thanks, Ross
  8. I have an old (1998) Deltagate II wastegate that I am considering for use on my Holset turbo L28. I will be using a stock turbo manifold and the turbo is a HE351 off a 2006 Dodge Cummins. I believe the Deltagate port is 1.25" (32mm). I want to run low boost (5-8 psi) until I get MSII tuned correctly. Is this wastegate too small to bother with?
  9. Thanks to all those that posted this helps a lot.
  10. I dunno it was just a guess. I could be wrong...probably am . I didn't find any flow numbers on K&N's website.
  11. My guess is that it's big enough for modest hp. It would be interesting to hear what size filter big-phil is running. His z is putting down 339 rwhp.
  12. Here is a 3.5" tall 4" diameter cone filter on the K&N website.
  13. Phil - Is your filter 4" dia X 4" tall?
  14. How much space is there between the compressor and the turbo inlet? The 4" diameter rubber elbow comes out 6" and up 6" then flares to 5.25 inch diameter. If I can't get the elbow to work then I think I will try to fabricate an intake box with a panel filter similar to what is used by newer cars. What do you think? Sorry for all the questions. I'm just trying to figure out what I need prior to tearing the car apart.
  15. I am in the process of gathering parts for my turbo 240z conversion. I plan to use a he351 that I picked up on ebay. I am wondering if I will be able to make this turbo work with the stock a/c compressor. I want to run the intercooler piping out of the turbo, around the front of the engine, thru the passenger side radiator support hole, thru the IC, thru the drivers side radiator support hole and into the intake manifold. For the turbo intake, I would like to use the stock Cummins 90 degree intake elbow but this isn't required. It doesn't look like there will be enough room for all the piping around the compressor. Do you think this can work or do I need to go a different route? Thanks, Ross
  16. Right but if your valve cover breather is also connected to the intake then you are still pressurizing the crankcase under boost unless you have a check valve there too. Are you guys are running with the valve cover breather open to atm?
  17. Doesn't this mean that you are pressurizing/boosting your crankcase? Is your valve cover breather also connected to your intake? Seems like the pressurized manifold would force air past the PCV valve into the crankcase. I must be missing something.
  18. I got it to quiet down by adjusting the valves cold and -.002 under the recommended clearance. If I remember correctly, that equates to .008 and .010. There is still a noticeable tick but it is much better. With the car running, I passed one end of a piece of PVC pipe over the valve train with my ear on the other to try to pinpoint the tick. As expected, the tick is pronounced near the scored lobes.
  19. On a positive note, I think I may just go ahead with a turbo upgrade that I have been considering.
  20. My gut tells me I got ripped off. The guy I bought it from knew nothing about the car. He just drove it for about a year then sold it to me.
  21. I recently purchased a '72 240z. The PO told me the engine and head were rebuilt approximately 10K miles ago. I love the car but I think valve train is excessively noisy. I tried adjusting the cam-to-rocker clearance twice, once cold, once hot but the noise is still there and didn't seem to change much in between. Actually it seemed more quiet after the cold setting. Here is a video of the car. Noisy eh? I read here and elsewhere that it could be worn lash pads. That will probably be my next fix after I try adjusting the valves one more time for good measure. This morning I took the valve cover off and started inspecting everything. The cam looks kinda crappy as you can see in the pictures. These are cam lobes for cylinder 2 exhaust and 3 intake. I am wondering if this cam is trash. The car seems to run fine and there isn't a ridge at on the cam lobe. If the next adjustment doesn't fix the problem should I start checking the wipe pattern on the rockers? Or am I wasting my time and should I get a new cam, rocker, lash pads, etc.?
  22. Thanks for the info Mario. I searched around on the board and couldn't find much - mostly just a few other people looking for information too. A Google search got me a few hits on some Honda sights but nothing detailed yet.
  23. I recently purchased a Holset Variable Geometry (VG) turbo to install on my 280zt project car. The turbo was pulled from a 2007 Dodge Cummins 3500 truck. I am wondering if anybody has had any luck getting one of these to work on a 280 or any other car (besides the original truck ). Here and here are pictures of the turbo. It looks like a HY35 but I'm not sure. I figure if it works then great, otherwise, I will resell it. One of the biggest hurdles I see is getting the VG control to work. It looks like some sort of stepper motor on a gear box. I plan to run this with MSII. IIRC MSII can control stepper motors. Anyway, I am just guessing at this point. What do you guys think?
  24. Is this a 82 - 83 280zxt distributor? I am about to buy this item so I want to be sure. I have see some without the fat aluminum housing below the cap. How about the drive does that look correct? Thanks for your help!
  25. Ya know, I knew that didn't sound right when I typed it. Thanks for the correction. Oh and this is a fairly old thread. Hopefully powerman has figured it out by now
