What's this crap inside this cooler's tubes? Isn't that restrictive? http://www.roadraceengineering.com/parts/icpics/20x10-endflow.jpg

This may help. It doesn't say whether they are o-ring or not, but gives other good info. Narrow it down by fuel delivery and then try to find out if they are O-ringers. Guess your trying to find one that'll work with the intake you had done up?

I've always thought that is one of the most realistic scenes in movie making.

This is an 82 turbo which has the electric fan on the front of the condensor core under the hood. The fan is supposed to come on when the A/C is switched on, but it doesn't. I know the relay and fan are good (see below). I tested the relay, it's good, swapped them anyway to be sure---I then removed it and placed a jumper from the NO to the COM term to operate the fan when the key is turned on. That proves the fan/wiring is good. With the ign switch and a/c on, relay for the cooling fan removed, there is supposed to be 12 volts at one COIL terminal and 0 volts at the other COIL terminal in the relay block. This is where my problem is. I get 10.68 V at the one and 8.6 V at the other. I have heard that there is a diode somewhere upstream of the relay. What now? Is this mystery diode the problem or where can I go next? The system works as rigged, but I want to get it right. Thanks, Doug.

Actually, they are stock. I've found that it's supposed to come on when AC is switched on, but I need to know where the fan relay switch is located. Not the AC relay switch, but the fan relay switch. My last turbo car's fan didn't work, but the car never got much past half way on the temp guage under any conditions--it was a manual trans if that matters.

Is the electric fan (on the front of the radiator) of an 82 turbo supposed to come on when the AC is switched on or is it therm controlled? Mine does not come on when the air is switched on. The thermostat and fan clutch have been replaced and the temp still climbs high when the air is on in traffic. Doug.

The Chinese ones always leak quickly. The US built ones are $100 and last alot longer. Mine leaks (and quits) and I have to remove it, set it up vertical, remove the rubber plug that's about half way up the tube (it's painted orange like the ram) and fill it with more fluid. It works for a while longer and slowly leaks again over a month.

Found this site a couple of months ago. http://members.roadfly.com/jason/m3engines.htm Not my opinion, just info.

The guy seemed really legit. I went there, walked the yard looking at all the NPRs. He had several. I didn't buy any of them because he only had the short ones at the time. I've never heard of the FE cooler, sorry. The gravel drive was all granite gravel. Odd in this part of the country.

Always wondered, why do you need a spacer? Is it to bring the throttle post out to the stock location or is it so the throttle plate clears the intake? Doug.

Austin, you tallking about Import truck salvage?

A vertical split exhaust resonator with no muffler will give you a nice burbling note. Even with a glass pack it will sing to you.

The late 86 to mid 87 RX7 has a 460cc o-ring, low impedence, but you have to find 3 cars to get a set of 6. I haven't had much problem so far in getting my 4 for $20. Doug.

Take a look at this pic and tell me if it's the funniest Ford you've ever seen. This things in Mass somewhere. http://www.molestedcars.com/wtf/018.jpg http://www.molestedcars.com/wtf/019.jpg

The guy that lives behind me has an iron block 350ci in a second generation. It's pretty wicked torque-wise.
-
"One can only wonder what they are worth today." If it's in the original car it would fall into the 75-150K area I guess.
-
Wow, I didn't expect that. Okay, I guess I just need to go with one replacement injector for now since I now know the FJ-23s are a Standard Motor Products replacement turbo injector also. #6 is fouling the plug repeatedly and must be stuck open or something. Thanks.

Treat yourself by spending 4K, you'll end up spending 5K. I'm just short of 40 in years and short of 30 in maturity, but forty grand will not last long, that's about a years salary. Saving money is easy when you have earned it. Found money is easy to spend. Let us know what you did.

Still need to know what the stock turbo injector number is. Is it FJ-23?
-
Yes and no. I sprayed some brake cleaner on one and it looks like a browntop, but could be burnt orange with some lovely grease on it. Also, the number is not a browntop number. 36lb browntops are E5ZE A3B, at least all the ones I have are. I thought it was one until I saw the number. D.

I've found while chasing a misfire that I have mismatched injectors on my 82ZXT. 4 say FJ-23 and 2 say A46-00. I assume the FJs are the correct ones? The A46-00 say JECS and are made in Japan. Info I found says they were on a Skyline, but not anything else. Anyone have an info? Doug.

Just like my destroked post, "I guess it depends on your intended use", but not 'all things being equal'. Your Pontiac situation is an obvious intended use issue. Really a different forum here, but there's a not so little amount of arguement on the rear gears your Poncho buddy is running. The 455 is a torque monster already. You will never get a decisive answer, only opinion on this, but I think the 3.55 gear would work better with his 455. I plan on using the 1.65 rockers, 3.55 on a 462ci in my gto. The rest of the setup sounds reasonable, without knowing what cam he is running, weight and assuming a tire height, of course. Seems he could have gotten into the 12s with the old setup (assuming weight, blah, blah). I've only played with the 2.3/2.1 Ford and sbc ratios, so I can't extrapolate on the L6 without doing the bore/stroke possiblities for myself, but I'll vote for "the glass is half full."
-
Don't overlook destroking, too. Short stroke larger bore configurations spin up fast, generate a lot of torque. Didn't James use a destroked motor in his 240Z? Ford destroked the 2.3L motor in the 80s to about 2.1L and developed 600hp with all the other magic they do to race motors. The 69 Z28 was a short stroke, large bore 302ci. On the other hand, there's a 427ci motor out there that sounds really cool like a side oiler Ford type of thing, but it actually was used in garbage trucks, etc and had a long stroke that was useless to performance apps. I guess it depends on your intended use.

I guess thats another offer to buy the crank then. I guess I was wrong. You know, I think it was an impulse reaction, but I don't think I really need it now. Gee, I sold a diesel crank for $200 earlier this year and it took 4 months of posting to sell at that price. I just thought I'd replace it now. Four months didn't seem very quick to me. I only had 2-3 people even email me about it in that time. The guy who did buy it had lost his desire for a stroker and was just reselling it in a completed engine kit with forged pistons to fund another option. "Mystique" is a very powerful sales tool in the world of image. It motivated millions of people to pay $80-$150 or more for sunglasses, court shoes. I wouldn't want to make that many people angry all at once.
