  1. or stripped...in your driveway...
  2. Even new old stock datsun lock sets are only 1970's technology (if you go stock replacement) there are aftermarket lock sets that will help, again this is a comparison of how badly you want to protect your car vs how badly someone wants to steal it. the remote kill switch is cheap easy and effective. As far as immobilizers, if a thief threatens to steal your car at gun point, let him have it. Get a Lojack system if you are that paranoid.
  3. The unfortunate truth is that anyone with a butter knife can steal your Z and it gets down to how badly you want to protect it. The Key systems in the 70's were really poor, and with 30+ years of wear a nail file will open the door of your car and start the ignition...So Z cars are easy targets. My suggestion is a relay tied into your ingition switch that has a momentary button that must be pushed to start your car. This is achieved with a relay and a little intellegence and a hidden switch. it would require the would-be thief to have your key and know where this switch is mounted to defeat your simple alarm. The disadvantage is that if they want to steal parts or are using a tow truck this will not help. Also, if you loan your car out often it could be a problem telling everyone how to start your car. Also, it is a known fact that most thefts are by someone you know, so if they know about your hidden switch it wont help either. A good alarm is a good defense too, make it sound different than the thousand or so you hear on a daily basis as your ears will become sensitive to how your alarm sounds. In my personal opinion, the louder & more obnoxious the better. Most 240z's are vulnerable around the battery, holes drilled in the bottom of the battery or the cover over the top gets pried up and the battery becomes useless to power your alarm. A battery backup siren is a good option for this potential threat with a standard alarm. I hope this helps...
  4. The dashes are available for sale, PDK fabrications are taking orders for them, and should be shipping on a regular basis soon. I was concerned about the same thing and have a private party doing the body work, and paint prep.
  5. More Photos are uploaded: Fuel cell and bulkhead installed, chassis stitch welding done, seat brackets fabricated and installed, Wink mirror brackets welded and installed, Fiberglass dash trimed to fit around roll cage and test fit. Brackets for seat belts, door bars and some misc items to be welded up and we are off to the body shop!! Apointment set for the body shop to start is Feb 23rd... I have inlcuded a few photos below or go to: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?ppuser=932&cat=500 and sort by "latest".
  6. contact Les Cannaday at Classic Datsun 760-940-6365
  7. I know that Les is having your CF flares made as we use the same fiberglass & CF guys to make our Dashes. As for his hood, it would be possible to build in a zx NACA duct, and you could talk to Les about possible options for his hoods too.
  8. I think you will be pleased, I have our fiberglass dashes done by the same people that do his stuff and they do a great job. These are the guys that have all the original BRE molds so the parts that you are getting are out of the original mold, and not a copy of a copy. I will pass along to Les that you will be contacting him. He is available on the weekends at 760-940-6365.
  9. I will talk to les about his site design...FYI
  10. Well... There are a few comments I can think of. The design that motorsports sells may not be a true BRE rear spoiler. Les Cannaday has the original Z432 BRE spoiler and he sells it you might want to contact him. I have one of his, and although I have not fit it to my car the finish is good. Les Can be reached at: Les@classicdatsun.com , 760-940-6365
  11. remind me what radiator you finally bought? wasn't it a Ron Davis?
  12. contact Les Cannaday, at classic datsun. 760-940-6365 he did stock them, and may still have a few.
  13. I say leave it the way it is. No headlight covers...dirt gets trapped behind them no matter how well you seal your headlight covers and smoke lenses make it hard to see at night. Your car looks very clean especially with the Panasports. I think the headlight covers would take away from what you have going on....
  14. Hi Ron, yeah, I had one made for my car. So many people liked it, and commented on it that we sell them now. What is your application? Are you racing? spirited driving? looking for automotive jewelry?
  15. Went by to look at my car on Thursday, and it looks like it is ready to go...will be picking up on Monday, finishing a little welding and then it is off to the body shop... I will have photos monday evening.
  16. mike your best bet would be to find a rusted out RHD car and cut the firewall out, that would give you all the necessary parts you need for your conversion. I know that Les can order stuff out of Japan too...that might be helpful. Ron
  17. kewl FCZ! Are we still on track for you to come by and do a test fitting of your CF Valve cover, cover?
  18. Saw Don a few weeks back, it is him and his wife and he is always dreafully busy. His products are excellent quality and very affordable.
  19. Hey FCZ missed your IM, drop me a line when you can.
  20. I am in north county, when do you want to do this?
  21. I can help you with that, where are you in SD?
  22. We have 4 interested parties so far, as soon as there are 5 we will start collecting funds and place the group buy. You could be number 5!! once the funds are collected they will be available as they get made, so if your number 5 i would figure 60 days.
  23. Agreed, in my case I am doing a restoration/copy of a famous race car that ran a well cell back in the 70's. So, to be period specific, I am running this type of cell. The guys at ATL are a great resource and are very helpful. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.
