  1. I guess those guys are just saying "screw waiting for a turbo/superchargers kit, were just going to go balls to the wall and put in a RB26DETT!" I wouldn't have the balls to do that to a brand new car! I love it though! Guy
  2. Are there wheels on that white car S30? LOL Guy
  3. Well I would be more than happy to update my pic but I don't know what I can put for an update? Not much has been happening lately other than finally getting my driveshaft ready to go to the machine shop. I could put a pic of my unfinished driveshaft in there? LOL Guy
  4. Well since I am having no luck finding a 2.25" pilot hole pinion flange for my R200, I went and had my 2.00" modified to fit with neapco flange adaper. I had the pilot hole bored out to 2.25" and the 4 bolt hole elongated so that the neapco holes would line up with the pinion holes. So Monday I am taking my driveshaft in finally! I have been trying to get my driveshaft dont for like 2 weeks! Guy
  5. Yeah I started my LT1/T56 with out haveing the clutch pedal depressed? My computer was edited already though so maybe that was edited out? Guy
  6. So what kind of laptop should I start looking for? What kind of minimum requirements should the computer have?(Hz?, harddrive space?, CD? Floppy?) Also I would like to run this on windows cause I hate DOS. Thanks, Guy
  7. Well first of all welcome aboard!!! Always nice to see more 280ZX(T)'s come on to the site. As for your question it is kinda hard to answer with out knowing what size rims you have. Try looking up this with the search function on the site under the "Brakes, wheels, chassi, suspension" forum. Guy
  8. Now theres a loaded question! It all depends on what you want from you V8Z/ZX. I am building a 280ZX V8 that had NO rust what so ever. I am using a 1993 LT1 computer controlled engine. You dont have to go this far but just to put things in perspective...When I am done with my car I will have spent hundreds of hours(in the last 6 months) and about $14,000 on my car. Now I am a perfectionist so I either bought everything new or almost new. I want my car to be perfect(in my eyes) when I am done. I also "over did" so things but that's just me. You should read the "sticky" at the top of the Chevy Forum about starting a V8 conversion. It contains lots of info for beginners with your kinds of questions. Also I know a while back there was a thread on how much everyone has spent on their conversions, just use the search function and look for "money spent" It should give you a good idea. Guy
  9. That's exactly what I wanted to hear Mudge! Sounds like I can handle it just fine! As for LT1 Edit I dont think I will got that route because like you guys said, you can only use it on one computer. I have a buddy who has a LT1 out of a Buick Roadmaster that he is getting ready to put in one of his camaros(he has like 7) or his monte carlo ss(1986 i think). So if I got TunerCat I could help him out too! So what software do I need from Tunercat? Is there more that one version of the program? Thanks, Guy
  10. Ok how much do you have to know to reprogram a car? I know how the sensors work and what they do. I am also good with computer related things so will this be hard for me to understand? Basically do you have to be a computer porgrammer to know what all of the info on the screen means to reprogram the computer? Thanks, Guy
  11. So which softwar package is better? Tunercat or LT1 Edit? Which one is the easiest to use? Also where can I buy all of the stuff that I need for either one? Also what do you mean by... Thanks, Guy
  12. I think I will take you up on that offer Mudge. I am going to start looking for a computer today! Thanks for all the help. Guy
  13. Yeah I think I am going to base my paper on the Camaro SS Vs the Mustang GT. More specific information on those subjects. Guy
  14. So does JTR sell these pinion flanges? Thanks guys, Guy
  15. Yeah unfortunatly you are right Dave. I just came in from the garage. I finally got the pinion flange off the R200 and soon found out that they are not the same. I knew it would be a long shot but I had to try! So now what is my next step? Does anybody have a pinion flange that has the 2.25" pilot hole that they would like to sell me? I really really need some help with this little problem I suddenly got! Thanks, Guy
  16. Well this is drivetrain related but I'm not getting any resposes because not as many people visit that part of the site. http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20837 PLEASE HELP ME TONIGHT so that I can get my driveshaft over the driveline shop tommorow! Thanks a lot guys! Guy[/url]
  17. Well I finally got the R180 pinion flange off but I can't seem to bust the R200 flange loose from the differental. I have an impact wrench but it is only rated to like 200ft. lbs. I really need to invest in a new Thunder Gun! 600ft lbs would do the job! I just want to know if these 2 flanges will swap with each other??? Guy
  18. Well I just looked again. The flange on the differental only has the 2" pilot hole. The Neapco flange has the 2.25" raised lip. Now here's my next question... Will the pinion flange on my R180 differental fit on my R200? Or are there a different amount of splines on them? Thanks, Guy
  19. Well I got the Neapco flange adapter for my driveshaft today so that I could measure the length that I need. I have an 82 ZXT R200. Now I dont know if I have a problem or not... On the back of the flange there is a ring that is raised above the rest surface of the back about 1/16". So it doesnt sit flat against the R200 yoke flange. Is this a problem? If so what can I do? Also do they make u-joints with 2 differnt size caps on 1 u-joint? Like the driveshaft caps on the u-joints need to be a little bit bigger that the ones for the Neapco flange. You know what I mean? Guy
  20. According to their site they charge $350 for a chip! That is just rediculous! I could buy a used 94/95 computer$100) and have some one flash it for me with new programming($100) for wayless. I think I will just go with Street & Performance for my chip. I know they will do a good job. Guy
  21. Yup if I was going to do it all over again I would have got a 95 LT1 because of the new Optispark and because of the easier programming of PCM. No chip so all you have to do is program the computer with LT1 Edit or Tunercat. Also with the 95 engine it is still OBD1 so there is no need for O2 sims like on the 96-97 engines. I vote 95! Guy
  22. I am doing a Power Point presentation for my automotive diagnosics class on the LS1/LS6 engines. I am doing it mostly on the fact that the LS1/LS6 is all aluminum. What I really need is things like... *pictures of the LS1/LS6 Block *pictures of the LS1/LS6 Heads *weight of the LS1/LS6 vs the Gen I and II blocks *weight of the LS1/LS6 heads vs. the Gen I and II heads *weight of the LS1/LS6 complete engine vs. the Gen I and II complete engines. *what are the pros and cons vs the Gen I and II engines without the aluminum blocks and anything else that might be helpful! Please help me with any answers to the above info or websites that can help me out! Thanks guys! Guy
  23. So who is this Ed Wright and how do I get a hold of him? Guy
  24. Yeah I am going to stay with the SD. I didnt know you could have a 94/95 computer programmed for SD. I might do that later. But for now I am just going to get a chip I guess. I was thinking of ordering through Street and Performance. It costs $200 for a chip from them. Anybody know of anywhere else I can get a chip for my computer for a cheaper price? I also want the people doing the programming to know what they are doing though! I would rather pay someone $200 to do it right and the best way possible than to pay someone $50 to do a crappy job. Guy
  25. I just wasnt sure if they put the fuel stuff on there or if it was on the computer and the computer just adjusted according to the O2 sensors. Thanks for straightening this out for me! Guy
