A cop can't write what he doesn't see, or can't back up. Go to the police station, and file complaints. Examples;reckless driving, carless driving, cell phone driving, tailgating,etc. Provide witnesses names.......subpeonas will be issued. Once found guilty, the insurance will be a slam dunk. I used this strategy when some clown ran a red light, and totaled my '68 GTO convertible. Calm down, protect your health, and protect your interests.

I also have the Hella Supertones, on my 190E2.6 Benz. People seem to pay a bit more attention to their "irritating" sound. They're good, but they really didn't impress me. I'd like to try some Fiamm "Highway Blasters". I had Fiamms on my KZ650 back in the 70's, and I was impressed. People MOVED when I hit those horns. I might try some early 70's Eldorado horns, not in sync with a Datsun's look, but plenty loud and LARGE sounding.

If you start to take apart the engine, without having a SOLID diagnosis, your only course will be to visually inspect every moving part until you locate the cause/source of the noise. If you lack the knowledge to identify the noise, it's possible you lack the knowledge to identify the culprit during the visual inspection. This can be tricky, assuming you don't find an obvious/catastrophic failure. Typically a rod knock is; "loud" on start up, and then decreases. Responds to snapping the throttle partially open being louder, more pronounced. Holding the throttle partially open may reveal a "sweet spot" where the noise is very pronounced. Carbon on top of a piston can cause a "rod knock". If the noise is present at idle, pulling a plug wire or shorting cylinders will lessen the noise considerably. Also appilies when rpm is at the "swwet spot". sounds similar to wrist pin and or piston slap. Is said to have a "double knock" type of noise. A cracked flex plate can sound JUST LIKE a rod knock (auto trans) etc, etc. If this beyond your ability get a professional opinion.(keep trying) As long as you don't take the engine apart, diagnosis is probable. START by removing the engine belts, to eliminate any rotating accessory noises/possibilities. Step on the clutch to eliminate the possibility of internal transmission noises.

First, please explain the symptoms/noise, and how you determined how/why this is a rod knock. If indeed you have a rod knock, many times it can be "repaired" by replacing the bearing inserts,and sometimes cleaning up the crank,(all in car)......cheap! I have done this personaly a few times.......none have come back. Tell us more............

I would drop the tank, and do a full inspection. Refurbish if needed. Maybe upgrade, do a search on sumps and baffles. I would pay particular attention to the fuel pick up tube. Maybe bent, or the end rusted off, and now short. May also have rust/pinholes sucking air.

The dopes at Rock Auto can't get it right. I also ordered the inners ( from Rock Auto)....years ago..same result. They paid return shipping, but never fixed the listing!! Do a search, there is info and options.

From what I see: Slight over inflation, more wear in very center. Outside edge wear, hard cornering, and or toe in. Inside edge wear, toe out,and or negative camber. Or a combination of the above. This assumes you have maintained the same tire pressure over the life of the tire. If they were run low for a while, you will wear both inside and outside edges simultaneously. The front tires on a FWD car always take the worst beating/wear, even if the alignment is perfect. They don't look bad for 40,000 miles, considering your "at" the thread wear indicators. What are the DESIRED Factory Specs for toe and camber??

You probably already planned for this, but, the link shows wheels for a 5 lug setup. Stock is a 4 lug. Maybe I missed something?

Don't use JB weld. If you do seal up the hole, use a non permanent silicone sealer. IMHO,reverse lights are a safety issue. I would make sure they are functional.

Power braking an engine is an acceptable test. It reveals stall speed/slipping in an automatic trans, and brings to light ignition short commings,etc. I don't think JSM is anal, I think you lack experience, and knowledge.

To be honest, all seem to be Bland/Winebago like, IMHO. Now for the constructive part........ Maybe you could use this lighting behind a clear/smoked/colored cover, with a design ??. Similar to a 80's/90's Firebird set up

Your clutch is not fully disengaged. Look for leaks in the hydraulics, bleed system. Check the adjustment at the pedal. Follow FSM diagnostics and adjustments.
