  1. Is the G35 also yours? I also run the G/Z combo! haha g35 sedan DD and the Z as weekend/project car

G35 coupe is my moms. Dad put a CAI , spacer on intake other than that stock.

Daily I drive what ever is in the yard. Usually the Datsun but the 300zx has been used a lot. Went and looked at a 94 Q45A for $2500. May pick it up for a daily driver.

Well today I removed my blown head gasket. Will be reassembling this weekend.

  2. Well looks like I have a problem. Took the car out for some video and an errand and it started smoking. Here are some pics of plug, and video. Going to do a leak down test to determine more of what it is.

As you can see a little wet with oil. Can only be ring/piston, guide or seal. There are no metal noises and there was no bang during operation so has to be seal I am guessing.

The video is over 3 minutes. You can see me pull over on the side of the road and the smoke pass by on the right hand side.

  3. Well driving the car today and it started smoking. Have oil on #5 spark plug.

Will do a leak down test and see what happened. Either a valve seal/guide, rings or piston. No parts that I could tell broken in cylinder. No noises or marks on the plug , but the car will not restart. Here is a video. Saw smoke coming out the back of the car and pulled off on the shoulder, car was still running. Checked everthing but car will not restart. Towed home and will look into it this week.

I will post a video of the cruise.

  4. Ha..... I have a L26 motor that came in my 260z. I put a P90 turbo head that has been modified. The harness I used is from an 82, used a 83 distributor oil pump setup to have the optical reader for the ecu ignition. Ran a 83 turbo ecu. Now have z31 ecu, with z32 maf.

My stock wiring has 2 fusible links.

  5. We just picked up a '62 single cab pickup as a shop truck.  We have looked a the Subie swap but we can do a 180hp Type 4 and 5 speed for about $3500 all in.  That's plenty for a drum braked bus chassis.  You have to do a lot of work to the brakes and suspension to run 300hp in this chassis.

what 5 speed? Bergs is about $2000 grand in parts... Unless you have an old mickey 5 speed laying around.

  6. My car is a true hybrid. I believe both relays are on the passenger side near the fusible links. I believe the 5 wire would be the fuel pump relay. That is run from the 2nd pic i sent you.  The 2nd pic is from the ecu. the 3rd is the other side of that connector. There was a blue with red stripe wire that is the signal I believe, if you follow the diagram pic I sent you you should figure it out. Going to be tough with you color blindness issue.

The 2nd/3rd pic shows the black/white stripe that needs ignition on.

    Blue/red stripe goes to relay

  7. The relay you had on the fender should be the ignition relay. here is a pic of mine.

here is the connector that it attaches to that also has the wiring for the fuel pump.

I will try to help as much as I can. I am in WI and car is in FL. Have to go by memory. I may be able to get my brother to look as well.

  8. Today while I am in Wi, Dad and brother pulled the center console and installed a rubber mat around the hole for the shifter. Trying to cover up any holes that may leak exhaust fumes.

I also sealed all the tail light housings. Covered up the hole for the antennae drain. Covered the mysterious holes in the sub frame.

Still have exhaust fumes coming in. What gives.

Also brother says that the diff bolts are loose again. He retightened them will see. He says that the car has created a stumble on light throttle.

Fixed exhaust leak, it was the bolt holes left open in the rear hatch compartment that held the 260 z bumper shocks in place. They were removed when i took the bumpers off. Never filled the holes!
