  1. PS. an 8" wheel with 0 offset would have a 4" back space. 0 offset means the hub surface is in the center of the wheel.
  2. Chickenman, Great info. It's an ITM kit on and N42 block. I'll be conservative with the ignition timing for sure. We have good gas down here. I'll make sure the customers only uses 93. Thanks! greg
  3. Hi Folks, I finished a stout little engine build for a customer of mine here in South Florida. It's a 10:1, 40 over L28 with a decent cam. I assume I'll have to throw some more fuel at this engine but it's going into a stock 1976 280Z with the original fuel injection that was working fine. I have done many engines like this but never into a stock FI system. What is the preferred method of adding fuel? The less complicated the better! Thanks, Greg Ira RevTec
  4. Hey, if any of you guys are planning to come down to Daytona beach this upcoming weekend, Jan 30,2016, come see us. We'll be the first motorhome on drivers left at the exit of turn 3. We are right next to the bleachers. Come say Hi. We'll have several other Z folks there! Greg Ira

    In CA tonight

John, Damn, damn, damn. I am just now seeing this. I counted on a notification. Man, I would have loved that and am sorry i missed it. Maybe next time. Know anyone in the SFO area. That's where I am headed. Greg

    In CA tonight

    Done. Thanks BluDestiny!
  7. I am also working on this car. I have put many of these Eibach spring kits from Motorsports Auto on cars like this. None of them have turned out looking like this. If part of the suspension is binding and holding the car up in the air, we have other handling issues to worry about.
  8. Hello enthusiasts, I like to send out an email when I come to different cities. I know there are tons of Datsun enthusiasts around here. I am in Garden Grove California tonight and tomorrow. Shoot me a message if you're around and we can get together and look at the cars. Regards, Greg Ira
  9. Folks, Can anyone tell me if there is any value to these in good condition. I mean, is that an upgrade people are looking for anymore? Thanks, Greg Ira
  10. I run the AZC oil pan on an IT car. For safety, I welded a steel angle on the cross member just in front of the oil pan hanging down. It was just about four inches long and I believe it was 1" angle just turned up like a "V". It will sacrifice itself before the oil pan. Greg Ira
  11. Hybrid Z, I am wondering if anyone ever has dealt with Dana over at this company. Please let me know if you have. Thank you, Greg Ira
  12. Just a couple of guesses. Could it be overfilled with oil? Could you have enrichened the mixture so much that now it has found a previous leak at the exhaust manifold gasket? Can you feel air or see the source of the smoke while looking under the hood and gassing the throttle? Greg Ira
  13. Hybrid Z'ers, My work brings me up to Northern California on October 7,8. If there is anyone near the Oakland area that wants to get together and talk/show me your Z's, please let me know. I send a feeler out when I go on these business trips and it's been really cool some of the stuff I've seen. Thanks, Greg Ira
  14. Here's a good stance comparison. Stock 240Z vs. EProd SCCA 240Z. Greg
  15. Bahelion89, Yes, it will need some support unless the fuel cell you happen to purchase is designed to just "drop in." We usually use 3/4" square tube to support the fuel cell outer shell. When I get to one of my racecars, I'll see if I can get you a couple photos. Regards, Greg Ira
  16. Domzs/Onion, I'll be staying near DFW. I don't mind the drive if we can sort of pick a meeting spot that's in between. That would be cool. Onion, I went to UNF. Greg
  17. Hybrid Z Guys, I'll be on a business trip next week. Anyone want to get together to look at, bench race, or talk about Z's. I'll be available Wednesday night. I have been posting this recently because many times I don't have anything to do except sit in the Hotel room. A few weeks ago I was afforded the awesome opportunity to see Matt Isbells shop in Atlanta. Wow, was that cool. Thanks, Greg Ira 2014 SCCA National Champion Revtec Driver Development
  18. Did the wind tunnel test hsppen.? I am interested if it happens in the future. Greg Ira
  19. Autocross, sorry I hadn't picked that up. I though we were talking road racing. Autocross is an entire different animal as tire life has no play, regarding weight versus a road race. The ballast idea is interesting. The less negative camber idea is good, you will have a better contact patch (while going mostly straight) with less negative camber. This may affect your steady state cornering. Most single adjustable shocks are rebound adjustments only, as this is what controls the spring. It is true that the tire can only take so much. With this in mind you might alter your line so the turning and accelerating is minimized. I have autocrossed a bit, but not in a car with high HP and not at a national level. Bigger tire yes, lower tire pressure may be a good thing to try. I did drive Bill Coffey's Z car recently. I guess he has over 300 HP and it did not have this problem of putting the power down, just sayin. Neat information and lots of cool ideas. Greg
  20. Hell yeah, lemme know and I'll get some of my Z friends that aren't on this list. I have a couple crew members up in that area. Great! Greg
  21. Dan, Hi, sounds like you've been working on this awhile. A few quick observations. The left and right weight should be much lower on the priority list. Any competition production car will have rules, so it is what it is. I would wager John Thomas added ballast to meet a minimum weight requirement. Some things in race cars can't exactly be explained on a piece of paper, believe me. So, make sure your corner weights are 50/50. Next, assuming two cars on a road course are identical, a car of your weight with an additional 120lbs will never win. So, the moral is you need to tune that out if the passenger makes you feel more comfortable. You have a pile of torque, and probably too much to stab the throttle all the time, but that's half the battle. From what I have heard the Koni race shocks start to get a bit tired up around 500 lbs, and especially if you have the rebound set at the softest. If you want more bite out of the corners, you have to get the weight back there, less rebound front, less compression rear. No rear bar? Let me know. What size front bar? You will want to keep a split in the spring rates, generally speaking. What kind of roll cage? Try the double adjustable race shock. That's what I use. What is the car used for? I'll be at Sebring next weekend hoping to help Clark and Tom out with their Z's. Talk with you soon, Greg
