  1. Gorgeous.. I really like what you have done with the 280zx looks 100x's better then stock!!
  2. Yea, Ive been reading up on the LQ9's. If you couple them with the L92 cylinder heads staight from GM and a mild cam they put out 550HP!!! using the Lq4 is perhaps an even better option.. prolly would only put down around 500hp but you have lower compression and would respond better to boost. http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/ccrp_0705_chevrolet_ls2_l92_cylinder_heads/index.html This is a motor combination I am considering... but i would go EFI. They now make an LSX style EFI manifold for the L92 heads.
  3. Excuss my ignorance but I have always wondered why the truck diesels are so easy to modify and can quadruple their HP output.... why not car diesels?
  4. I perhaps could give you a place to store the Z... it would be outside though. You should be able to find a storage unit though. So do not want any cars in them but you can also find unit which can be used as garages and workshops thats what they are designed for. There are some near me in raleigh that people restor cars in and run small shops out of. Im sure there are some in charlotte.
  5. If the floors and frame rails aren't bad I wouldn't junk the car. The battery box, rockers, etc arent that big of a deal they are kinda weekend projects and you can get creative with the battery box as far as lowering the battery or moving it somewhere else compeletly. However you need to get under the car and start poking around the frame rails and floors boards. I like to use an icepick or similar sharp object. 280z's are alot better about not rusting out in the frame rails... but if you've got rust there just go ahead and run away.
  6. For a daily you will like the z06 much better its very roomy and doesnt feel cramped. M roadsters and coupe are SMALL, they are great little sports car and I LOVE driving them but kinda small for a daily. My dad has a M roadster and a C5 vette. I like both of them but they are completely different. The M is small and agile with a smooth power band... its just fits you feel like your are part of it and you can just toss is around... great for cruising mountain roads. The Vette is big and has more raw torque down low feels like its ready for a swooping road course. Anyway drive each and decide whats right for you.
  7. Clown SHOE!!!!!! with the e46 motor of course. close second would be the z06
  8. Im going to have to say SC has more fat ugly bitches but they do have cheap gas so thats a plus! Lots of autocrossing at Knights stadium too.
  9. Actually the wheels are exactly the same Watanabe RS8 type R's with gunmetal center and polished lips. But anyway after seeing the videos I might just have to finish the transformation. The funny thing about it is that I had never seen Wangan Midnight or the car when I built mine... it was only till after I got done that people told me that it looked like it. I think a turbo v8 is in the spirit of Wangan after all it is about power and speed
  10. Oh man I LOOOOVVVEEEE that RS... Aston martins are soo classic too, i think if i had 150 grand to spend on a car that would definitly be one of my picks
  11. Yup my l28 already had more power then a stock LS6. And I agree with clifton you gotta get some wider sticky tires. I could smoke my 245 Hankook's all day long but when I put my MT's on there mmmm mmm traction. Im prolly going to end up getting a different set of wheels too so I can run a wider street R compound tire. I dont like the flex from DR's over 120 or so and the car just wobbles around all over the place and nobody makes wide street tires for 16" wheels. V8 and turbo mmmmmm mmmm I cant wait...
  12. That looks gorgeous!! And i love what you've done with the 280zx its going to be one of the nicest looking ones around!!
  13. I dont think it needs to be animated.. it could just change whenever the page is refreshed and pic a random picture out of a set. I think if the admins like this idea we should make a post and let people submit their photos of engine featuring shoots (since thats mostly what we are about) and maybe a few shots of modified Z's from the outside. To make it easy you could just edit your Hybrid SN on the bottom if you wish like in my profile picture. We could also post up interesting pictures from HYBRIDZ events like the windtunnel testing or SEZ. I really like this idea I think it would be a neat Wow factor when entering the site.
  14. Picture in this style could be featured: You get the idea..
  15. I think it would be cool to have a header of "HybridZ" and the footer "engineered to be feared" and then in the center have a picture that changes everytime you load the page. We could submit HIGH QUALITY pictures featuring our cars, maybe hood up engine shots? It would be a neat way to feature cars here and be a cool was to enter the site.
  16. Hey guys, Im got some time on my hands here during the next couple weeks and I was gonna put some more install kits together if yall are interested. it would be the same deal.. same parts same price. If you are interested see the group buy section and just tag you name on there. If i get 5 people I go ahead and do a run.
  17. Mmmmm if I can swing the LS2 I definitly will. Ive seen some going for decent prices on ebay lately. ive already got some ideas on how to do the headers and turbo setup
  18. Right now its looking like Im going to go with a ls1 or ls2 and single turbo it. Just gotta get my L stuff sold so i can get the ball rolling with a motor.
  19. They did it in Thrust Racing... that enough proof for me!
  20. Mike - I could only wish for something like that! i think my funds will limit me to something a little less exotic. I got the motor completely pulled yesterday and started tearing everything down. I will be trying to decide on prices for everything and should get alot posted up tonight. Right now Im thinking LS1 turbo, 2JZ, or possibly a RB26 I have a lead on. But im still doing research and prolly will never decide until i buy something.
  21. Give me a little time to think about it.. ill get back to you in a couple days.
  22. Well Guys, The turbo finally gave up the ghost, Im assuming the bearings are shot in it (one year old?!?!) shes blowing oil like nobodys buisness. Anyway, Ive decide I need to cut my losses on the L28 and go with a different powerplant. Ill have a chance to expand my knowledge and fab skills to something else... newer and more reliable. I havent quite picked out a power plant yet but Ive got a few in mind. That being said I'm pulling out the L28 today and everything will be up for sale. I am planning on parting everything out... but if anybody is interested I would sell the whole package...it reallly needs the turbo rebuilt and she would be ready to go. Keep an eye on the classifieds as I will have a BUNCH of L28 goodies including a complete i/c kit, methanol kit, external gated turbo setup with downpipe, complete z32 tranny swap, SDS ready to bolt up, 550cc injectors and rail, blah blah blah...... RIP L
  23. Z dreamer.... boy do you have it pinned, the south SUCKS. Good lord its the most backward place in the united states. Talk about behind the times country folk who cant talk and aint got no edumacation. Oh and lemme tell you there arent any good jobs, and the weather is HORRIBLE. All I have to say is that if there are any people from California or Up north thinking about moving down here DONT... its the WORST PLACE IN THE WORLD. Yall stay home now ya hear? You can come though Davy it might just not be that bad after all... just don't tell your friends
  24. okay haha here are the pictures of my I/C install finally.
  25. Yea that entirely possible, alot of people make quick molds out of cardboard, foam or whatever and cover it with clear packing tape and just lay the glass on top of that... works well. Its not show quality, it isnt smooth on the outside but it works.
