  1. Welcome to the boards from a fellow NCZ'er. I also used to have an early 260z
  2. I went with a 1mm. The l28 stock already has stupid low compression, the 1mm only raises it a hair. I believe to like 7.8:1. Picked mine up from Courtesy Nissan. I will be running 20's on pump gas too.
  3. Im with clifton here, they look nice but if they arent on car adjustable they just arent worth it. Especially with the spindle pin design. If the upright was tapped for bolts then it would be more convinient, but i think azcar still has the right idea.
  4. Looks like a tonn of fun. I have been contemplating building my own "shifter kart" with a 600cc bike motor. This may be a reciepe for death, but if i get bored enough this summer it may just happen.
  5. Nice work there, makes the boost gauge look stock. For those of you that want to use the autometer bezel the solution is very simple, and makes for a gauge which is easy to mount and dismount. Here are some pictures, I utilized the autometer aluminum mounts and the stock plastic bezel. Here you can see how the gauge mounts nicely into the bezel, mock it up and test fit it in your dash. The gauge it mounted through the front and the clamped in but hte aluminm bracket, for this to work we need ot glue the bezel to the dash. Test fit the unit in the dash and mark the position of the bezel. Once youve marked where the bezel needs to be, disassymble it and us a suitable superglue to glue the bezel to the dash permenitly. The bezel have a very nice surface for glue and it turns out ot be very strong. I used plasticX which seemed to do great. For this project only the non-clock bezel will work if i remember correctly. Reassymble! The guages now can be removed and serviced in seconds with the two thumb screws!
  6. Hey, Thanks for posting the link Jon, whew i need to work on that website lol, oh well. I have a feeling the JEG's cage is the same as the S&W, judging from the pictures on their site it seems to suffer from the same design flaws as the S&W. Perhaps this is a dragracing thing to have the tranny tunnel brace? I dunno.
  7. I have my suspension set up pretty mild for the street, basically stock settings, a little more negitive camber and a little more caster. I have no aerodynamics work except a xenon from lip, which is not reinforced with a splitter right now. The fastest Ive had my car is 125 or so and it is very solid. I feel the same as others, if you are having issues at 80-100 there may be some other issues you need to look at. My car is lowered about 3" and has 250/275 springs, with illuminas I had my old 260 to between 150 and 160 a couple times, who know how fast it really was since i was using the stock tach. Over 140 WAS scary, i would say in the z cars i have driven things start to get scary in the 130-140 mph range.
  8. Looks great! I like the color on the front spindles/strut tubes Just curious, fine by me if you dont want to post. But how much did all that powdercoating end up costing you? I do powder myself but I dont know what the going rates are.
  9. Sorry, I jsut saw this thread again. Thanks for the compliments. SilviaGuy the front air dam is a xenon vents unit. You can get it from MSA or somewhere similar.
  10. LMAO Sparks shssssh dont tell him.... these are the kind of people who loss their money on the streets.
  11. Hahaha ok sorry. I have met roddey and mark. I also know Drew i guess that would be mark's nephew up here at NCSU. i think he made some carbon hoods for mark and some others in Triad. Anyway sorry for the mix up lol. I see now.
  12. I scored a sheet from a guy that does alot of aluminum work, Im not certain on the size but its looks like about 18ga. Im going to be using 90 deg angles rivioted on like ribs for extra strength. Im actually going to have ALOT left over, might could cut a few of these things out.
  13. looking good! I am curious like mark what type of pump you decided on. Also where will you mount the cooler? At the rear of the fender well im guessing? I am thinking about doing something of this nature because I am using a smooth rear cover. However it seems like there was a post a while back regarding diffy coolers and everyone got into a bit of a argument weather or not it was worth it. Looks like a great idea to me! Especially with the availiblity and price of oil coolors and pumps.
  14. Hey BJhines, Didnt relise you were on this board or a least never got the connection. I met you at the triad z show a few years ago. I used to have the white turbo 260z. But anyway, I got some pictures of your car at the show noting the front spliter. I just purchased a nice sheet of aluminum and am getting ready to do a similar thing to my 240z along with some ducting, I was gald to see this thread. Anyway hope you dont mind me posting but here are some pictures that might show your overall design better:
  15. I ran ecsta 712's on my BMW. They seemed to provide decent traction but nothing special to speak of. And WEAR hahaha, they lasted 12K miles on my Daily driver 325is. Getting much more out of my es100's Im running now, I like them much better as far as performance too. I will say the es100's can get quite loud though.
  16. Ill be thur.... better start looking at getting a place too.. Fontana villiage has been sold out for a while.
  17. Looooookin good man, very clean find! Good to have another Z car enthusist in the area, gimmie a holla some time.
  18. Nope but it was close. I was actually on the blue ridge parkway. Beautiful roads up there. Ill be there for Zdayz for sure for the entire weekend maybe longer, so much fun. Should be a huge turn out this year if things go as they have been.
  19. And Why Didn't You Call Me???? I would have been up there in a heart beat.
  20. Its not funny to make fun of us l28's lol. Im sure you REALLLY regret going 2jz .
  21. You can run a bigger puck if need be. I ran a 1.25" puck and ported my housing out ALOT, ive since gone external but the ported worked for a while. Here some reference pictures for you. However it looks like you are right on track. Might want to clean up the housing on the inside too to help the transition to the wastegate hole. These are the after pictures, I can find the ones of it before I started. Stock it was 7/8" to give you an idea:
