Anybody running Falken Azenis tires?
240hoke replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I wouod think you would need a 55 or 60 sidewall to make those tires look right, but im not sure if they make them in that size. Anyhow im running 225/50/r16s on my car. <-- not falkens just giving you a heads up on the size. Lemme know how the falkens do when you get them, i was wanting to purchase a set when im done with my dunlops. -Austin -
My 1./4 times were .3 faster then that conversion indicates. So yeah turbos are a bit quicker in the top end so keep that in mind. Course i do have horrible 60', so that might have somthing to do with it. -Austin

Modern Motorsports rear disk conversion question
240hoke replied to jgkurz's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Hey guys, My rear brake setups is not the modern motorsports one, but i did have an issue with the brakes mounts. I cut mine off and then relotcated the hardline mount by using the parking brake mount. Since the parking brake mount can be screwed in i could put it whereever i wanted. Heres a picture: -Austin -

On the ride up to the Triad Z show in greensboro nc, i got a chance to race a guy in the club with a vortec supercharged 350z. He also has headers, cams, and a few other things. He put down 425rwhp. Anyway we raced from about 55-110 or so. I pulled him by a good 2 car lengths. I was pretty happy, and i think i hurt his feelings And on a side note, the show was very good. Not quite the turn out i hoped. But there were about 45 entries with the first generations dominating the field, which is always awesome. Ive got some pics ill get up sometime or other. -Austin

Yup i'd say it is the manifold. Mine does the exact same thing. There is a reason for all that stuff on there you know. BUt then again ive never run mine with all that crap one it, so i dont really know. -Austin

i get full boost at 3900rpm with my .82 stage 5

Didnt do anygood tonight. I shouldnt have said anything anyway i only got three runs in before i had to come home(gotta be home by 9:00 to study for exams mommy's orders ). I had sucky starts and shifted slow. But enough of my complaining. Even with bad driving i ran an 8.6@86.2 (15psi) I should be good for at least 8.3 or better. Oh well theres always next week... Although i will it might just be your driving. I dont know how much expirience you have but launching a turbo can and keeping it in boost when you shift is a little tricky and thats were the time really is. -Austin

Im going to the track here in a couple hours (1/8 mi). Ill be running 15-18 psi tonight so we should have similar power. Ill let you know my results!!

SOrry i cant see any time slip.... can anybody else? i just got this new browser so i might need some plugins... how much boost are you running? whats your 60'?
-
8.8 if definitly not good numbers for your setup, that is if you are maxing it out. Not sure how much hp you are putting down but i should think it would be in the 350 range. When i was running 11psi of boost i ran a 13.0 in the 1/4 and a 8.4 in the 1/8 just to give you an idea, and i know that i could have run that faster. I had 245hp then and 305 ft/lbs. -Austin

Hey chronic, Ive been having some issues with my profec b spec2 also. I had been getting a large spike and the functions (set, gain, set gain, etc) didnt seem to work properly. I think that possibly this was due to my wastegate hole (internal), which i ported from 7/8 to 1.25" this weekend and also smoothed out the casting inside flowing to the hole. So im hoping this will solve it. Im heading out right now to do some testing. Im gonna write a post about my findings later on tongiht if they are good. -Austin

My heart is torn... how cani make my l28 more "driveabl
240hoke replied to 240hoke's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Alrighty on the blowing engine thing: 1st time: poor tuning striaght up, thats all i can say 2ed time: faulty wastegate, im in the process of porting it out now, i had lots-0-boost creep and hit 20psi on the interstate with my 370cc injectors, i think thats what caused it we will see how it turned out, i found out i could do alot of porting to the wastegate hole, because my flapper is so large. anyway right now heres my planned mods: -forged pistons -balance engine -550+ cc injectors ?? how big should i go for ~400 hp? -fuel pressure regulator maybes: -external wastegate -different engine managment -lightened flywheel -

plainswolf this is for you ---> :malebitchslap: well i think i may stick with the l28. Its a way for me to learn more about building engines as i think im gonna tear this one apart and build it for 400+ hp. anyhow, im thinking that an rb might be a lil impractical due to the limited availibilty of parts etc. Im thinking a kick ass suspension setup would be more practical for me right now too soo.... ill play with the l28 for a while longer. Ive have had the car on a mustang dyno for more then four hours with a motec wide band o2 sensor running. So.... my fuel mixture is pretty good, but still get poor gas milage, perhaps its too good, i dunno. -Austin -

Thanks for the replies guys, what changes has any body noticed from stock after having their engine balanced? Mark, lets trade and its a deal. You're car is beautiful!! BUt seriously the car wont ever be for sale at least not for a long time, but the engine may be., wasnt sure which you were talking about. Hope to see you there again this summer! Tim78zt: Im running SDS em4-6f engine managment. Was your temp sensor advince for any system in general?? As for the v8 guys out there, there will never be a v8 in my car unless somebody was to drop a chevy corvette engine at my garage for free. Or perhaps the BMW m5 v8, that would do -

OK im still having trouble deciding what to do on my car. I wanna do an rb swap but im thinking that the money i spend on that could be used to better the car in other areas that might be a little more worthwhile for me. Heres the thing though. I wanna know what i can do to my engine to make it more reliable and smoother, easier to drive day to day. My goal for the car was to have something that was more of a daily driver. Take a classic and make it modern in a sense. My l28et is pretty rough, very tempermental, and hard to start. It has to warm up for a good little while before i can drive it. I also dont like the fact about how rough and slow it revs up. i guess i just want the engine to run smoother and have better throttle response. Ive driven a 300zx N/A and two BMW 325's and i really like the response/smoothness both cars have. I could rape them in my 260 but its not as graceful you could say. I also cant get much over 17-18 mph. Being 17 i cant afford to pay 100-180 bucks a month in gas.... Oh and ive blown two pistons in about a year and im tired of it smoking. Basically heres what i figure if i stay with the l28 platform i can do: forged pistons/gapless rings (8.5+:1 c/r) cam/ valve springs (so i can get power to 7k) fully balanced lightened flywheel external wastegate throttle cable 550cc injectors Who has done these mods and what kind of improvements did you see? I should be able to pull 400++ hp from my setup withthe above mods i suppose. Somebody try and convince me to keep my l28. Im torn -Austin

Dyno Results, Comments and Suggestions Welcome
240hoke replied to z-ya's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Yeah thouse numbers look pretty good, but i agree with everyone else you should be getting a good bit more. I put down 305 ft/lbs at 11psi, this was on a mustang dyno too(lower numbers). Defintly check into the exhaust/muffler combo. I had a 3" system with a flowmaster muffler. When i swapped out hte muffler to a magnaflow i noticed a big improvement. So i say 3" all the way with some sort of straight through muffler. You could mess with the timing, just take a couple degrees out and see what happends on the chart, just play around a bit and yoiu can figure out whats good for the car. -Austin -
Hey David K, send me a check and its yours i can have it out of the car this weekend. Right now its looking like I am going to be parting out the engine. IF somebody doesnt jump on it, just simply becuase it would be easier for me to ship everything and that way anybody could buy it. Ill let you guys know. Anybody think im making a mistake doing this? -Austin

also.... does the rb25 require the same oilpan modifications as the rb26? if so where is a good place to find those parts?

Wow I like those mounts. I will hopefully be buying a set in the near future. How many sets are availible? Are they only avalible off ebay? -Austin
