  1. Thanks..been looking everywhere for these brakets
  2. Thanks guys...the dismount/remount worked pretty quickly. Now she can move under her own power since the P.O. tore her apart 15 years ago.
  3. My 240z racer is coming quickly and I am glad to see this thread. I was getting ready to start one in the competition section. Rules allow me to run the car at 2180 with me in. Car is a 71 240, this seems like a tough number to get down to, but I'm guessing. Does anyone know for sure?
  4. I see now that my post didn't mention...it holds air great, right away. It just has a little 4 or 6 inch place that won't come all the way up on the wheel.
  5. Thanks..I will try swapping. If that doesn't work I'll give the ratchet strap a shot, I've had that work when they wouldn't hold air to start beading.
  6. So after input from the guys here I bought Hoosier speedster vintage race radials. Three go on like butter (Hoosiers usually do,) one will not bead. I have used tire lube, slip, moved it on and off the sealing ring, ran it to over 100lbs and left it overnight, beat the tire with a mallet, bounced the heck out of it, still nothing. The most I can do is change where the tire isn't seated. Took it to a tire store with the same result. Any wisdom?
  7. Looks like a pretty good place to start from. Agree as stated above, you want to have extra and be able to trim. Also agree that removing the old rail is probably not the way to go.
  8. I lurk waaaaaay more than I post here. John can certainly be short and abrupt but his info is good. I sense his frustration. I have been a wrench for many years but am brand new to my 240z and probably ask some dumbass questions. He's been a bit short with me when I do. I'll take that. There are other admins here who need to get the eff over their rediculous selves and cut the petty self-important crap. He's not one. Nothing wrong with a ground floor guy trying to keep the site going in the way it was intended.
  9. thanks for pics of the rears sunny..will you guys post some info on the rest of the suspension?
  10. OOATS- pic is great for reference. I keep a known good one with the cover off that I can physically watch operate to help me when doing diag.
  11. Can you test fuel pressure? I have read that z's will run rich if the FPR fails.
  12. Find a new wrench..sorry but I've been a tech for a long time and don't know anyone who couldn't see this problem a mile away. I'm sure he's a great guy, but I'm sure there are better shops right around the corner. Zohan is correct, you may have an FPR issue or you may have a wide open injector. The wide open injector is less likely, that will usually hydrolock the engine and it won't crank. I remember that car runs a pretty low fuel pressure for an injected car (30-ish lbs at idle.) I do not remember what it is cranking. I'm sure someone here can advise. btw-when you get the issue fixed make sure you don't have a ton of fuel turning your engine oil to water.
  13. Thanks for posting...my car has zero rust on the body panels, but underneath....holy smokes!! Your pics will help tons while I make a plan of attack. I have the plasma, the tig, and the mig sitting by the lift ready to start...I just need to make that first cut!
  14. This is strong advice. I say almost the same thing to each customer a dozen times as we are building their cars: "Concentrate on ounces and the pounds will come."
  15. I did find that info, I have all of the pieces for the 83 zx rears except brackets
  16. ahh..thanks. I'll stop trying to figure it out then
  17. On the milage increase..If you have ever dropped a full synth into a wet clutch system you will see how much better the synth lubricates. Your machine may be immobile until you put a conventional back in. On the Zinc and Phos, ZDDP is the most important thing in your oils additive package. Whatever oil you use you can find the ZDDP ppm online. There are a lot of good ones out there these days. We primarily build Porsche track cars at our shop. I ran mobile 1 for years but to remain the factory fill oil the zinc ppm has fallen, with manufacturers saying the zinc may harm the cats that by law they must extend the warranty on. We now run a Motul full synth with a great ZDDP package and have yet to have a customer spin a bearing...knock on wood.
  18. Here's what I did with the same wheel: then bead blasted em Then powder coat so the old porous mag won't leak
  19. hmmm...I thought the 4 posts seemed kinda low. It isn't going up as I post.
  20. good point..I will give it a shot again when I have a few more out there.
  21. Bump on this question...still can't "like" any helpful posts.
  22. I am trying to search this...sure there has to be a post on it...if anyone knows it pls forward. Every time I try to "like" a helpful comment it says my quota for the day is reached. Is there something else I need to do to enable this?
  23. Has anyone found a source for the maxima brackets? I contacted all the guys mentioned here and no one seems to offer a braket that works.
