  1. Mudge if you are seriously going to make a COMPLETE write-up about the turbo swap, it will be hailed as one of the single most useful links on my computer! I have been in and out of so many different nickel and dime hints and tips that I am so lost it's unreal, but still no true step by step since I have a brain disorder when it comes to wiring. I might need to contact you after I get the motor in, when I get to the wireup, if that's o.k. with you. Oh and by the way I have a complete 81'ZXT motor/wiring harness going into a 260Z, was wondering if the 82-83 wiring harness could be used instead of the 81 but still use the 81 components and brain, or would I have to change the crank trigger to the dizzy trigger?
  2. Got off the phone earlier with Motorsport auto, and the window mount side mirrors are no longer available. He told me they just used a nissan sentra(he couldn't remember the year) mirror with a custom made bracket/plate to bolt it up with. I was wondering if any of you have a set of these and if so would you mind taking one side down and making a schematis of the mounting plate so I can duplicate it? Also if anyone knows the right year sentras used that mirror please chime in!!!! I absolutely NEED a set of these for my little project to look right. Help Help Help!!
  3. LMAO!!! Mudge that quote brought back some memories from WAY back. I used to be a faithful fan of the A-Team as well, always making some bada$$ project war machine in every episode. What ever happened to evening TV like that, Airwolf, Nightrider, MacGuyver etc.
  4. All you need to do is remove the balancer , but make sure you use the proper tool(a three arm gear puller) or you could damage things. Carefully remove the old seal I like to use a very thin, small flat head screw driver(they make a tool for this but it is awkward with the front cover still on the engine) MAKE SURE you do not scratch the soft aluminum cover!! After you have CAREFULLY removed the old seal put the new one up to the area and press it in with your fingers till it holds itself in place. I then usually use a small hammer (Brad nail hammer) to tap the seal in place making gentle taps all the way around the piece as to make a uniform seat. <--I love that little guy
  5. Oh dayum!! Now that's the Z addict in us I was talking about
  6. I worked in a fab shop for a year and a half and got good with a cutting torch. For smaller gauge sheet metal, a 00 tip(or smaller) would be fine and the cuts made by the smaller tips are a lot cleaner, cleaner than a plasma cutter. You just have to adjust your valves correctly. Tim about the R230, do you remember what the ratios were throughout the years? I remember an old post about the different years and what their ratios were but have been unable to find it.
  7. Dude, I thought you were working on a turbo ZX............If I remember correctly.
  8. I'm sure that with a little patience , a cutting tourch, and a welding machine I could do the job. Guess my next step is to go out and spend $600-800 on a mig welding maching, wire, bottles and tourch
  9. Ah..... I see you are in the same boat? Least I know I'm not the only feind doubling up on the Z's lol
  10. Tim.....Dude..........I have been waiting for you to start making the 230 diff mounts since you said you would last year!!!! maybe make package deals with the adaptor flanges and front mount?
  11. I am rebuilding my 81'ZXT motor, and wondered where you guys found the best deals on pistons, bearings, gasket sets, and things of that nature. Trying to save a few bucks wherever I can being as this is not my main project. Thank you for your time
  12. Yes please email me any pics you can.
  13. How did the volve intercooler fit? Did you have to modify it to fit correctly through the two big radiator support holes?
  14. I have been unable to find an answer in the archives. I am doing a turbo swap into a 280Z, and I have seen a few things mentioned about getting 300 crank hp out of a stock setup. I need to know what you turbo experts would do to achieve this small goal. I will be rebuilding the motor to stock specs (fresh), using the exhisting stock turbo, stock injectors, stock everything to maintain reliability. I've heard talk about gains with an intercooler, which one would you recomend? I'va also heard of gains with a "turbo controller" where do you get one??? What kind of gas mileage should I expect, and 1/4 mile times would something like this run "for shits and giggles"? I am looking at maybe even doing the starion OD tranny swap. Have any of you tried this, if so what are your impressions, what should I consider doing to it when I have it rebuilt? Please give me any and all info on this question. Thank you for your time.....
  15. Damn Dave, the first thing you need to do is remove your testicles from her "handbag". I have never and will never have a woman tell me what I can and can't do. And to be honest with you, I find that most of them like being with a man who is asertive and strong. You let it get to where it is now, not saying it isn't good to "compromise" , but that word requires (by definition) a two fold settlement from both parties involved. You let her get used to DICTATING your life and how you will BE ALLOWED to live it, that is sad IMO. Souonds like you need to fly off the handle a few times and reassert your natural dominance. URGH URGH URGH!
  16. We swim with the gators down here, if you wanted to see some gators you should have just droped me a line. Louisiana is THE sportsman's paradise, if you want to hear some interesting stories just ask, I'll post them.
  17. I'm trying to get in touch with John at CCW to see if he in fact is still making his rims. They are customs but it is said they go for around 1600 a set, so that's not too bad verses other's I've seen. I have also seen a pic of a car with this particular combination of rim and flare, and, to say the very least......... !!! You might remember it, indiglo type blue with double white rally stripes? Might be able to bring the car to his shop and get a TRUE FIT considering he is only a days drive away.
  18. Thank you guys for the info,.... now to start looking for the rims I need . I know the cost will be great, but I am not doing too much to my exterior other than these and a factory hood scoop WIFO!
  19. I personally LOVE yahoo messenger chat rooms. Lots of rooms, voice chat available, web cam options. What more could you want? I'm niceguy678us on yahoo messenger just in case anyone wants to drop me a line.
