  1. On an uneven playing field against an animal that is at the top of their food chain like a bear, large cat, or shark, there is not much you can do. Throw a Glock 27 in your pocket, even though I HATE Glocks, it's small enough to not be in your way. Usually just the act of pointing it at an animal will make them stop and think, because at that moment you take a posture that gives off the impression of confidence and strength (an animal can sense when you are afraid). And if all else fails and you miss, the percussion from the muzzle blast combined with the loud bang will definitely get their attention. And if that fails,... take better aim.
  2. I really need to jump on the Z31 VLSD SS diff and the axles if they are still available. Can anyone there help me out with this one? Please PM me if you can help!!
  3. I call dibs on the auto shifter and the center console trim piece.
  4. Can someone tell me how to save this dang video clip? I've tried everything I know to no avail.
  5. When I was about 19 (before HybridZ came into existance) I had an early 75 280Z 2+2 automatic. The neutral safety switch went out in it, and I couldn't source one down, and they were no longer available new. So off I went to O'Reilly's and found one (starter button)that had a round/dome shaped black rubber cover over the button. I got to looking where to mount it, and I never smoke in any of my vehicles, plus it fit like it was made for the cigarette lighter recess in the dash. Once installed, you couldn't tell that there was a button there at all, it just looked like a rubber plug. And to top it all off, all the buddies thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread (also pre ricer/fast & furious years)
  6. If my memory serves me correctly, I saw a set that had 3 cables each that ran from the mirrors-through the fenders-and into the interior under the dashboard on each side for adjustment via inside the car. Are these the same type and do they come with this hardware?
  7. When I was 18 (currently 26), I was working for an industrial pipe fabrication facility as a fitter/welder helper. One day one of the welders didn't show up for work till noon. Upon asking him if everything was o.k., he informed me of almost this same story choking/tearing up (I knew they were having problems, we became good friends working together 12 hours a day). I asked him if there was something I could help him with. He replied with this: "The only thing that you could do for me is remember what I'm about to tell you. Before you get married, own your home, your vehicle, and other posessions. Never trust a woman farther than you can spit. Keep your bank account, vehicle insurance, and bills under your name and yours alone. Make her sign a prenuptual agreement, if she protests for whatever excuse then there's something fishy going on and you don't need her. Stand your ground, on your own two feet, never give an inch, and never give your heart and soul completely to her. And last but not least, pull out." When he didn't come to work the next day, we all knew what probably happened. He's supposed to get out in another 2 years, I see her around town rarely, she still walks with a limp and slurs/slobers, never see her with anybody so I guess she learned a valuable lesson. I can't say I wouldn't have done the same in his shoes, losing everything anyway, mine as well get a few good licks in before your done. To this day, I've never married, no children, been in two long relationships (roughly 3 1/2 years each). I've found that women like a man with a strong will, and respect me for it, but can't accept the fact that they'll never ever control me and end up giving up after only a few years. Screw it, I move on, have fun, one day Mrs. Right will find me.
  8. Last night I got everything together on both arms/hubs, screwed up two bushings a little bit, but they're still fully functional just not pretty anymore. I'm glad I can always count on you guys "in a pinch" here at hybridz. Happy new year everyone!!
  9. blue oval z, strotter, wheelman, and nigel thank you for your replies, that's exactly what I was looking for. You guys are the best on the internet!!!!!!
  10. I am installing poly bushings on 280z A-arms. I sandblasted them, primed/painted them, pulled the spindle pins, slid the hub/shock assembly out, cut out the old bushings, rediculously greased the new bushings/installed them, go to slide the hub/shock assembly back in there and #$%^?@!!! it won't fit in there with the new bushings, and there will be no prying/sliding it in there either (I tried already). Anyone experience this? Have any thoughts of what to do? ROSS C?????
  11. I've sat in Joel's dad seats and they are VERY comfy!!!! I am probably going to buy a set similar to them when the time comes. I am a large brawny type bodied guy, VERY braud shoulders muscular build with a gut lol 6'2 about 280lbs. I am probably going to cut and drop the seat mounting braces down an inch before I install the seats though just for a little extra.
  12. Last weekend I watched Horsepower on Spike TV and they did a buildup on a smallblock using a new Gayle Banks twin turbo bolt on kit that looked like it would tuck in nicely under the Z hood. When I saw it I had the usual thoughts "man I'd bet that'll fit in the Z". For induction they decided to use a multi point injection system with a double barrel throttle body located where the carb would normally be, I believe it was the edelbrock version but don't quote me. They discussed the optional intercooler, acessory brackets, etc. I haven't looked on the net for any info on this yet, but it may be an option you might consider. Anyways just throwing it out there FWIW. Have a good one guys.

    Off road Z

There are pictures out there of this already being done with a 75' 280 2+2 on a toyota 4x4 frame. They did the 350 swap to the toyota frame then put the 280 body on it. I'm not at my home computer or else I'd put up pics for you. Look around the pics are out there somewhere.
  14. No, sorry man . I have no clue on the valve. But those hoses have the right bends, you just have to trim a little off the ends to have the perfect fit. But the job came out perfect with those hoses, thus the reason I posted the info for others. Just trying to do my little part for the site wherever I can. I have no clue what the hoses are meant for, I went to the back of the store and went through all they had till I found the perfect ones, took about an hour ( I know......I know...... I'm too pickey) but the guy's Z I was working on is a very good friend, so I wanted to do him right.
  15. Just in case any of you Hybrid Z'ers need these here they are: 18836 28466 18750 18700 These are Gates hoses purchased from O'Rielly's. Cost me $21. These are the three heater core/valve hoses that are inside the car under the dash, and the one from the firewall to the back of the cylinder head. Not sure which ones are which just copying from the receipt (already installed them and peeled the stickers off em'). These all had the right bends in them and only required minimal trimming of the ends just for length purposes, but if you do this job and look at these hoses at the "parts house" next to your originals you will see that the bends are 99.9% perfect. Application was on a 78 280Z inline six, but these should fit the earlier years since they are all pretty much the same. I recomend that you get newer style hose clamps and throw away those cruddy originals (mine were rusty and I hate them anyways).
  16. Hey Phyte, I need the center console automatic trim piece for my 260 (has P-R-N-D selector and 4 screw holes). Going from a standard to 4 speed OD auto. Is it in good condition?
  17. You get all thumbs up from my corner of the U.S. Tim. Judging from the four foot wide grin on your face after you lit up the tires for the first time, your rear diff bracket held up well? Once again from another Z enthusiast, congratulations to you my friend! You GO BOY!!
  18. Yeah Denny, I love to see the look on people's faces when I pick up a small block chevy V-8 and throw it in the back of my truck. Everyone tends to take a step back with a fair amount of jaw droppage lol.
  19. You big looser can't even keep a job?........... Just kidding dude, I hope you guys have a great time.
  20. Hey Scottie I have a GN Guru down here that I communicate with. All he builds is stage 3 and 4 setups (seen and ridden in his cars). I got my BRF tranny from him to go behind my 240Z small block swap. If you want I can ask him if he has an extra "moded" BRF available. I am one of your fans and I would like to be able to help you if possible.
  21. sweet, I PM'd you thinking you might not see this before you left the forum, just wanted to make sure as I am going back to the J/Y again to pick up these parts. Thanks again for the miata parts link!!!
  22. I know most (if not all) 75-76 intakes came without the EGR crap on the back of the intake. I have 2 and know where there is a third if you can't find one.
