Alright, just answer me this. What do you guys think the best way to go on this is? If I do get those fittings that convert the threads (which I dont even know what those are) to accept "AN" fittings, where can I find THOSE fittings/hoses/an oil cooler that will accept those fittings? Thanks!
-
Alright, but for the time being, is there any way we can remove the unit and run just a straight oil filter straight onto the block?
-
Ok, but once I take off this oil cooler accessory from the block, arent the thread coming out of the block male and doesnt the oil cooler adapter screw onto those threads?
-
Alright, how about fittings? I have no idea how any hoses will attach to the engine.

Hey guys, I am once again in a pickle. We want to run an oil cooler, but dont know what fittings or where to even find these fittings that will adapt to the oil cooler input/output pictured here, just above the oil filter input: My quesiton for you guys is, where can I find these fittings? Also, which oil cooler can I use? I was looking around on summit racing and came across this: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=BMM%2D70273&N=700+300221+115&autoview=sku All I know is that its an oil cooler and its fairly cheap. If you guys could help me, that would be awesome, thanks!!!

Ok boys, heres another question and yes, I have used the search. We need a fuel pump relay to run Megaquirt, so is there a specific one we must use, or are there universal ones out there we can purchase? Or, can we use one out of another car, such as this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-DME-Fuel-Pump-Relay-911-944-924-968-83-97_W0QQitemZ380063944710QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item380063944710&_trkparms=72%3A727%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245

Ok, well we're going to be installing an intercooler kit. Also, where can I find metric brass plugs for the threaded holes? In the end, we will need a lot of them, one for IAT, one for FPR, the long one that snakes up for the brake booster, one for the MAP sensor, and prolly another for something else, who knows.
-
Yes, Megasquirt 2 (which is what we're leaning toward) has that ability. But, for the time being, we will not use one. We will just hook up the handful of sensors that are absolutely needed and add on in the future.
-
Is the fast idle valve recommended? Will the valve work with megasquirt?
-
Hey guys, very newbish question, I've searched all over for an answer and cant find anything. We're just converting over to an L28ET from our L24 in our 240Z and we dont know a thing about sensors and what goes where. I do know some basics but I am wondering where I can find some information on what sensors do what, what sensors go where and where to mount them, expecially the "MAP" sensor. If you guys could get us rolling that would be awesome, thanks!
-
Alright, for whoever can help me, here is the intake manifold. We plan on running megasquirt, so what on this intake can be blocked off and what needs to stay. I know I need a vacuum draw for the master cylinders, but what else? At this point, I am lost at what to do with these holes. Also, there is one on the bottom, what is this for?

Back on subject, what modifications must be made to fit a T5 BG and driveshaft out of an '83 280ZX turbo into a '73 240Z with the stock R180 differential?
-
Bringing a dead thread back, but we're also looking to swap a T5 into our '73 240. We've bought the tranny and driveshaft. The car has the stock 4 speed and R180 rear end. I know the crossmember will need to be modified, but other than that, will the transmission and driveshaft bolt right in without lengthening/shortening the driveshaft?
-
We have another 240 and a rebuild E31 with 280 valves that we'd like to get set up. We'll just rebuild it and throw all that stuff on it. It'll be cool
-
Electronics wise, we're going to be running Megasquirt 2 hopefully, still waitin on the T5 borg warner, new oil pan, I think we're going to do the MSA downpipe and we're still figuring out what we're going to block off the intake manifold since we wont be running the EGR stuff. What will the stock turbo put out PSI wise?

Hey guys, we have now received our '83 280ZX L28ET with 78k miles on the clock when pulled, here it is when we received it (and yes, that is me!): Ok, so there is the engine. Those pictures were taken the night we got the engine. Here is a "teaser" of the car we're putting it in (i'll get better pics of the car itself later): Engine in the car now: We actually just put carbs and refreshed that engine, but its coming back off Anyways, this is the engine with us about an hour into it, prepping it for sandblasting the next night: Then, we went ahead and got a cherry picker and hoisted it up and let it have it: Sandblasting rocks! Alright, so next we rolled it into the garage and threw it on a stand Pulled off the valve cover and was very satisfied with how everything looked Alright, so the next step was to pull off the head and clean it up I took the head over to the car wash and power washed it. Once I was done with that, it was now time to paint the block Before: Primered: Painted!: Now that the painting is done, we cleaned the deck, cylinders, and pistons as well as we could while leaving the crank assembled in the block Kameari 1mm head gasket, and if you look close in this photo, you can still see the honing marks in the cylinders! God I love these engines! Repainting the valve cover Valve cover painted with all aluminum parts and head back on the engine Valve cover sanded Oil pan removed, it was all dented to hell So thats where we are right now. One of the exhaust studs basically fell off the head with the other half in the head, so that has to be drilled out. The exhaust manifold and turbo is all cleaned up and ready to put on (stock turbo). The intake is in the process of having the EGR stuff removed and a 60mm 240sx TB installed on it. We will be running megaquirt with this system and eventually, we would like to be pushing ~250hp with stock turbo, if possible. We will also be running an intercooler with the setup. Let me know what you guys think!!!

Anyone?...

Hey guys, we just bought an '83 L28ET with ~78k miles on it. It included just about everything but the transmission, distributor, and crank pulley. We have stripped off all manifolds and accessories and are looking to get 300-350 hp with megasquirt, injectors, Holset (HY35 I think?), MSD, and intercooler. We have many questions though! First off, to install an intercooler on a 240z, what modifications need to be done? For the turbo, I know Big Phil uses a Holset HY35. Is this just the compressor side or is it both hot and cold side? How much is this turbo? Does it just bolt on? Also, this manifold is the EGR version, obviously, and I was curious as to if it is possible to remove the system or if it should stay. Is there a diagram of where all the piping/lines go? Also, should the exhaust manifold be heat wrapped or is it fine? And how about the injector cooler fan (or whatever its named), should that stay? Let me know what you guys think, thanks!

New headlights that bolt right up!!!

So I would have to custom fit a projector into a stock 240Z "bulb" headlight? -

Bringing this thread back to life. If I want legitimate HIDs, I want a projector instead of an H4 housing, such as the one off of Datsunrestore.com? (last item on this page: http://www.datsunrestore.com/catalog.html) -
Alright, well, hopefully they'll work out. Thanks for all the help!

Ok, we have the 6-1 header and MSA premium exhaust system (2.5"). Hopefully they will work out well. And finally, once these carbs arrive, is this the procedure to go by?: http://www.redlineweber.com/html/Tech/dcoe_adjustment_layout_typical_i.htm Thanks!!
