  1. This is what we were going to do initially, but if we can go without temporarily, this would be fine considering time as a factor. Do you know where we can buy a surge tank preassembled? Our only option right now is finding someone that can do it and ordering parts, which is more time. If we can run the stock hardlines with a HP pump for the time being without starvation problems, that is what we will do. It wouldn't be hard to install a surge tank and do minor rerouting of fuel lines in the engine bay, which is what we would like to do.
  2. Wow...that would be ideal. Should I just walk into advance auto and ask for a stock 280zx turbo pump? Or should I get something a little heavier since we're looking for about 300whp? And does it mount in the back of the car right outside the tank? Should the one pump be enough? Thanks again
  3. With your stock carburator tank?
  4. Ok boys, here it is. Our 240z has the stock hardlines that run down the body and is still equipped with the stock 240z tank. We are installing an L28ET looking for about 300whp. I need your input on what we should do for fuel delivery. First, read this and tell me if it sounds right: According to this, if we just run a 5/16 return line and use the stock feed line with a 280z fuel pump, we will be able to supply adequate fuel supply to the engine? If so, how hard are new lines to run down the length of the body? Can this be done without a lift? Thanks guys, and if you could respond quickly, it would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Vacuum advance, on a turbo fuel injection distributor!?
  6. So adjust the idle with that set screw? What is the hole in the throttle body for then? It looks like a tiny hose would connect to it...whats up with this?
  7. How are you getting air into the intake if you've plugged it? By cracking the throttle body? Is this a bad alternative?
  8. Hey guys, quick question. We have installed the 60mm 240sx throttle body and it has the little bypass valve for (i'm assuming) idle? I've noticed there is no way for air to get into the manifold while idling other than this. So my question, where do I route this hose off the bottom of the throttle body? To the intercooler piping?
  9. Hey guys, we're installing our crank and everytime we tap on the rear main cap to install it, the bearing falls out after a few taps when we're about to get it seated. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what was your solution?
  10. Hey guys. We have an '83 L28ET Turbo automatic block that doesn't have the bypass ball-and-spring valve in the block but rather in the oil cooler filter housing adapter. But, we want to go with something aftermarket, so I was wondering if this would work while still being able to have a bypass valve: http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=1231
  11. I heard that only the N/A and manual transmission blocks had the ball/spring valve in the block...is this true? It looks like there is just a block off where it should be now....
  12. Bringing up my old thread, we're about to start reassembly but I am now worried about our oil filter situation. In the rebuild book it says that a ball valve is in the oil filter housing and you should be able to push it in? But it looks like its a valve that come out, if anything. I want to get a sandwich plate from summit or somewhere and put it between the block and the filter but it doesn't look like it has a valve. Doesn't the stock adapter contain the ball valve in it? Wouldn't it be bad not to have this valve?
  13. Ok, so, here it is. We want to use the stock hard lines that run the length of the body. We will run the surge tank setup in the rear of the car. Just like this one: My only concern is space. I hope that there is enough room under there by the gas tank to mount that whole assembly. Anyways, can anyone give me specific instructions on which line goes where as far as feed to the fuel rail and return. Thanks
  14. We still have the stock '73 fuel tank, so we should still run the low pressure fuel pump off that tank to fill the surge tank, correct? Then from there, the HP pump will take from the surge tank.
  15. A diagram would benefit that greatly, anyone have one?
  16. Ok, that works, I do have that book, are there any additional performance procedures you fine gentlemen would recommend?
  17. As a conclusion: Can I use the stock lines, the big one on the passenger side (not the 1/4) as the feed to the surge tank, filter, HP pump, then to the rail, back to the surge tank, and then use the return on the driver side? I will also drop the tank and run the vent line to the filler neck, but I still don't have an expansion tank, is this ok?
  18. Alright, well, bought some seals and gave them to the machine shop
  19. Hey boys, We will soon be getting our L28ET back from the machine shop and asked them what they would charge for reassembling the bottom end. They quoted us "a couple hundred bucks" and I thought that was a bit much. Instead, we've actually gone ahead and bought a ring compressor and all the rebuilding tools to do it ourselves. My question for you guys is, what is your procudure? Or, better yet, is there a site that gives a guide on how to rebuild? I know the basics, but this will be the first engine I have ever rebuilt that will be running. If you guys could help me, I would appreciate it, thanks! Jacob
  20. One question. Would you guys recommend the Ford Felpro seals for an '83 L28ET that is driven fairly frequently with stock cam? If it is an upgrade then it is a no-brainer, but you speak of the stock being fine in some cases.
  21. Hey once again, I still do not know what to do with that hanging capacitor, if you guys could point me in the right direction, let me know. Thanks
  22. Ok, so I've come to the conclusion that I will just buy the "plug" for the voltage regulator connector and no modification is needed for the connections that go into the back of the alternator, correct? And can someone tell me where that little capacitor is supposed to be? It has just been hanging for a long time.
  23. Ok, so, I'll run a vent hose up to the filler neck and then, I will run another hose to a canister from the tank, correct?
  24. No, I do not believe it is vented to the fuller neck, should I just run a line to it from the small feed on the tank?
