  1. I solved the gearbox mount 'issue' by cutting the flanges of two gearbox mounts and welding them together. On top i welded a 3mm plate to make it stronger. now i can put a bolt through both mounts making a very stable mount. The box is resting on two polyurethane mounts Here an overview with most stuff hooked up. (throttle linkage, the water system, fuel system, so it should be fluid tight!) The only issue now left is the drive line, clutch, gear leaver, exhaust and wiring and some bits and pieces. Next week i take the week off so i can have some heavy progress and start up

  4. haha like my Auzzie mate says and i qoute: Skylines are like cheap skanks, they put out like a frog in a sock, but are as classy as a cheap roadsidewhore.. I guess it is all a matter where you are from, here in holland the tend to get bought by the wrong crowd too .. though most are rebadged GTS's and GTT's
  5. ok people will shoot me for this .. like said it Looks like BMW z4 Coupe .. down to the roofline and the indent in it! I actually own one (my daily) and sitting it next to a 260 with euro lip front and rear ( BRE spoiler) the dimension are dead on ... the Z4 IS the new Z.. it resembles the soul and line of Z much better than a 350z witch is far more GT like the s130... However it would not sell as good as it is fricking tiny (taller than 6,1" or a bit on the heavy side ? forget it! It has no storage. styled particular ( like the concept shown in this topic) The 350 is styled more accepted, very roomy, luxurious BUT heavy!!! the concept would have the same downfalls as the z4 coupe from styling size etc! i doubt they would make it much in the lines with what Gollum said .... Plus there is a new Z maybe the new z5 this is to much The z4 drives like a z aswel btw ! same drift feeling

Does the 'legendary 5' ring a bell, they did OK in European rally's like the RAC, TAP, Monte Carlo, and the dominated (and still do) in the East African Safari... though i think they better suit tracks than sand .. but that is personal i guess .. I have to say i v4 is just short 4 could be great but well .. not for me .. that would be cool in an Mini or an old fiat 500 .. I guess im a small car Big engine kind of guy..
  7. you obviously haven't driven a beemer Diesel lately .. it is FAR superior to any vw or audi diesel .. in Europe they have the benchmark diesels!! My 2.0 made a stock 235 rwhp (no boost upgrades just fuel remapping)

  10. Having a zxr.. and haveing well gone through that one wjils modifying.. And having looked over several, and even though same claim mystical engine packages and lighter cars, It is BS it is just a standard 78 with the Japanese non wiper rear hatch a big fat tail and factory rice decals .. So basically factory Rice.. BUT a good base to put some performance in.... It is not a special flower .. UNLESS it is a 3k MINT never outside time capsule .. but that would go for every Z .. otherwise we are not talking Dino's or Superamerica Superfasts, DType race pedigrees or Jacky X gt40's here. It is just a mass produced tin can ( very nice tin cans at that!! )
  11. Purism has no place on HybridZ. The members of HybridZ hold no brand loyalty to Datsun or Nissan for their choice of equipment. We have open minds at HybridZ and don't let the decisions made by corporate managers, engineers and accountants at Datsun/Nissan hold us back from building the cars we desire.
  12. i guess ill hush then .... I have a zxr with a BMW v8 and a full cage ..... I CALL Blasphemy Anyhow no it wont run to full potential on a Stock ECU i would say Read into how MsS works.. that would be my choice to do it ( and how i have done it ... given very briefly .. 200KM orso .. then i went V8. but there are plenty of people running it.   14. did we not wanted to start hunting down and beating 'Flatbeetles' ? or better know as flachsnaut kafers... The Miroux's Red 240Z with '2.4' had not much problems keeping up with the stangs etc... and it was fairly poorly prepped ( i.e. fairly original suspensionwork etc, steel fenders and doors)

The relevance in this is fairly easy.... someone that is not a native speaker will have more 'problems' A: translating technical terms B: maybe has different rules of engagement in a conversation. You as an Ozzie should know that for instance PC'ness is much more an issue in Japan or the US for that matter than it is 'downunder' You could also see that as translating all the words might lead to a shorter post. leaving just the bare essentials, though i agree more info will lead to better answers . Anyway the question was fairly thoroughly answered in the post above I like those gurdles

  17. SO finally got around some work again. Business and well life is in the way of projects every now and then Funny enough the BMW engine is a front and rear sump style engine, so here you see the sump in front of the cross member. I guess i have to make a skid plate orso as under that pan is some expensive hardware here you see the part in the back of the front cross member all in all it fits really good im happy with my progress sofar ! Here you see the OEM mount, naturally it is not strong enough but i'm thinking of bolting it to the OEM mount and either moving the mount forward or making an construction using part of the OEM tunnel mount any ideas are welcome ! As you can see it clears the tunnel nicely
  18. Actually that is not the case at the law has been changed even more cylinders isnt an 'APK' Afkeurpunt anymore. Next to that having an APK waves you of the stated above where your insurance can refuse to pay in case of an accident ( HR 11 juli 2008, BD1845, R06/177) The 40% rule does still sort of flys but is hard to stick.. also you are not allowed to change wheels., schoks, struts brakes etc etc if you go by the book, so where do you draw the line ? hence the fact there are more than one v8 z's in holland ( AIko's old roadster (Chev) even RDW certified Xanders (Chev) and soon Mine with a BMW V8 (doesn't really count as well lets not type that out here ) Next to that there is a turbo diesel 240z, and a top chopped Z etc ... And there are four 1/2jz/rb builts that i know of in progress. I know the RDW can argue 8 cylinders but there is already one so that makes it legal for others to follow (presedent werking) I do know that if you register the car by the RDW with a 6 banger and than swap to a 8 the APK cant fail your car on the fact you have two more cylinders ( the law on that changed a year ago) I say go V8
  19. Yup yup drinking spree in London. Last weekend Nurburgring with VA motorsport for a 4 hour race at the 'green hell' with the shelby's ... so not much to update .. But i had some inspiration in the pub and some fun at the Nurburgring.. Or was it the other way around ... :S Damn alcohol This weekend ill be working on it again addressing the trans mount.
