  1. Curious aswel !! def somting for my track toy.. or ill go heim joint all the way
  2. On my yearly pilgrimage to SOcal and the MSA west coast national car show i picked up the ingredients to put my ZXR to the Road! I picked up a Trans Am with TonyD for the gearbox as the entire car is cheaper than a used gearbox. This one had the Hurst shifter and a refurbished T56 in it aswel. Apparently at 111K miles the car stopped driving. so our guess is the opti-spark took a dump. The car looked decent but had been sitting since 2009. Together with Andy we pulled the gearbox and clutch mechanism and took the mint Borla exhaust off the car ( something that would help making my car sound a bit more civilized) Pulling the tranny we discovered you had to pull the clutch fork and bell housing to make it separate from the engine! great desing there GM ( or are we just to ignorant to read the manual ) I also picked up mclouds flywheel to convert the 2pc rear main seal to the LT1 trans, next was a F1 racing ( cheap eBay unit) clutch kit to hold up the 500 FT torque. intresting part was that you expect this all Pro Outfit with a name like Mcloud but you get this Kind of cool actually! Now i just have to wait until the tranny shows as i put it in the trunk of the 380SL I’m shipping for my colleague. So meanwhile I focus on tieing up loose ends on the car as time permits between work and race season with the BMW GTR. I’ll keep updating! At this point the car is rough sketch with all sorts of loose ends.. i guess it is time to get the show on the road after 4 years
  3. Since it is high season campaigning my BMW GTR and I have focused on getting my ZXR on the road. I needed some space, Most metal work for the ISMA flares is done. so now left to do is seam welding the cabin and undercarriage, and extending the existing cage to the front struts before it can be media blasted. I plan on doing this as time permits, so it will be slower process. The goal is to have the car blasted late summer Meanwhile i needed some space and the car out of the way.. So what better than winch it to the ceiling using two electric winches. So i can have it down within 5 minutes to work on it if I feel like it? When i have updates naturally ill post them! but first i need to install the 6 speed in the 406 ZXR
  4. Ok i did some research. Please correct me if i'm wrong! I'm going to buy a LT! 6 speed car ( 95 trans am, camaro or firebird), harvest the gearbox and scrap the chassis. The LT1 6 speed botls to the sbc but since i have 2pc rear main seal 400 i will need a Mcleod or Centerforce conversion flywheel, they run about $400 but i will need some sort of adaptor anyway and i dont have clutch now ( i run a qauter master now) But as far as understand now the Coversion flywheel seems to be a tad thicker to compensate the bellhousing length, thisway you can use the LT1 style clutch. The flywheel needs to be external balanced as i have a 400. So you gurus please let me know what else i need? As im a bit lost when it comes the American muscle in 4 bangerland we call europe
  5. dont they check what you are running in your class ? i.e can you legally run an 2.8 liter displacement? as it would outclass you over here.. though Tony and i suprized the Miramoux team at spa.. claiming they had a 2.4... but it was the first f54 l24 in the world
  6. I leaning towards swapping the gearbox for an LS1 t56 using the mcloud adaptor plate
  7. The plan has changed abit over the years but now the time has come to get more serious, I have a competative M3 GTR so thi swil become the vintage class racer, meaning a high strung l28 s13 gearbox, carbs, classic theme! Some teaser pics of the chassis prep! The wheelwel adapted for the box flares. Front leg reinforcement Engine bay, shaving the firewall. The chassis needs to be seam welded, and mediablasted, and the cage wil be connected to the front struts, Like this original ISMA car had. The rear cargo floor will be cut out and made flat to house the fuel cel
  8. Haha your french you cant help it Nice setup you have there .. any pictures of the backside of that plate ?
  9. Not as much a monster HP whise, it only has 331 HP. But roadracing in Europe seems to be based more around handling. Time attcak is agood example that hp doesnt help as the turn the same laptimes as good well balanced cars with half of the HP
  10. Thanks especially from you as your car has been inspiring me for a long time!! Well sound like a good base! We went from: to: in 4 months bit insane
  11. An update picture! The M3 GTR is more or less finished (always in season improvements). And when nothing blows up, and i dont wreck that frees up time for the ZXR. http://http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/111814-sorry-guys-i-got-busy-on-the-darkside/ So i dusted it off and put it back in spot in the barn i can actually work on her! As this is the nearest next project to driving this wil be the the one ill adress my attention to next. What are the plans: -Repace all the lines with Goodridge AN lines (fuel and oil) as the whole little oil fire set me thinking -Get the clutch working, It has a tilton 5,25 in there now, but it is a bit to light for street use, so what kind of flywheel cluctch set up do you guys suggest? It has a t5 under the car ( i know it is to weak for the power it puts down but for now im fine with that) -Replace plug wires as the went up in flames. -Rewire the car, as all the wires that are in are stock but the front loom has allot of stuff that the car doesnt need anymore. -New front tires. -Rivet the hoodscoop in place for the final time. -Mount the OEM fender mirrors! Get it roadinspected so i can drive it on the Dutch roads! The pictures: In the near future I'm planning on repainting it, I did this paintjob when i was still merly out of my study budget.. so it has flaws.. I'm going for withe and black, howbver i first want to be finished with all the tech work before i do that, as i will have to completly strip her down agian. If i would do it over i would have gone LS... But im tempted to new projects to fast. So i wil have to stick with what i have first and first blow this engine up! As LS gives easy gearbox combos that work! The SBC and gearboxes seem to be a hard ( at least manual ones that hold up any decent power) so the qeustions: What flywheel clutch combo do you suggest that can withstand 400 + ft pounds pf tq?
  12. Haha god tony you need a kit!!! as it is missing in the collection
  13. Nice run, to bad that for classic class you need to stay at oem displacement in Europe. In open class you would get wasted by much newer cars, as the classes mostly go to 3 liter.. Hence i race the m3 gtr. ( That and part availability) Love the sound though! Lets hope my 2.8 will sound like that in my isma s130 build..
  14. http://http://bubblevisor.blogspot.nl/2013/03/beemer-shake-down-zandvoort.html
  15. An oil line Anyhow this april i'll be at the MSA meet and since california is the land of milk and honey when it comes to V8's i hope to buy some new parts ( flywheel clutch combo, some plug wires and small bits and pieces. Nothing major, then it should be ready for the road agian!
  16. update: Since my time got devowed by racing in a dutch class last year with the M3 the project has been sitting around a bit. Though the last months i figured lets hire a good welder! He has been working on th echassis, reinforcing, seam welding, and making the wheelwells to accept the ISMA box flares! i'll shoot some detailed pictures soon! The goal is to have the body at least painted inside and undercarriage around october this year! On the other had i have an ex nismo employee working over the engine, to stick in class rules for vintage racing im going with a 2.8 line six, according to him we can reach 8500K rpm reliably and make around 300 to the wheels on carbs.. So there is progress just overshadowed by my GTR racing campaign.. (moneypit) So i expect to be more active here agian soon
  17. Show me the card i can translate it for you
  18. Since Datsun a scarse here i focussed on my racingeffort with e36 m3. The ZXR is allmost complety done but i need some small parts that ill pick up this april at the z meet! But time was kind off sinking into the GTR that got build over the last winterstop ( 5 months) Luckely the ZX GTU Chassis is making progress though slow. but ill update on that soon. Here are some pictures of the flossmann GTR m3 I will test it the 28th of this month ( allmost done now)and then finally i have Datsun time
  19. lol oooooppppsss http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfSDpKW45qg luckely no damage apart from an oil line
  20. are the 2.0 liter beemer diesel engines available the states? as that would be a better candidate for the swap. given it is a rwd set up with a 6 speed gearbox. they have a much more linear power output then the 'spikey' vw diesels. Also the 3.0 liter 6 banger gets really decent milage even in my 2005 range rover.... so if you want to stay 6 banger .. the 5 series diesels from teh e39 series make a very decent candidate I would look into the; -M57D30 193 PS (142 kW; 190 hp)@4000, 410 N·m (300 lb·ft)@1750-3000 ( 6 banger) can be bought here for €1000. -N47D20 150 kW (204 bhp) @ 4400 rpm 400 Nm (295 lb ft) @ 2000 rpm can be bought here for €1500. The N47 had indeed 245 HP, 420 nm torque after a reflash. The M57 now makes 260HP but it is on a 4x4. What TDI engine are you planning using ? As they have been around for a while now ... Note Theez are natuarlly as Domzs states 'are junks'. That is why they keep on going 300k miles +
  21. I like it allot! every visit i make to hybrd makes me want to make progress on my datsun racer !!
