  1. Funny.. i was just working on my e36 'M3' (euro s50b32) track car (see picture) And Xander and i where looking at the diff carrier next to an s30 unit thinking the same.. mainly do the wide availebility of parts and diffs in europe .. Great !!! I still have a seed for an e39 m5 rear subframe in my s130 ... this does make it sprout a bit
  2. Im with john on this ...... I know a guy here who has the entire works rally car with 2 sets of wheels, but they make a nice tabelpiece.. he doesnt want to drive on them do to what john said
  3. an HKS set up look crammed in ther we run yetterbens old set up in my dads car with a t3/4, next mods are a 350z 6 speed and r200 lsd. Anyhow.. it does nicely fill up the engine bay, and is a bit harder to play with than EFI in my experiance. However it does give the right period feel to it !
  4. eeehm ok .. what was the saying agian; "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
  5. Hmm no i even get more pissed that ITBS are not allowed in my class ! tony has a good set up though I went back to Carbs
  6. I Know stock euro coolers for NA cars have AN style fitting, do all use pupmps have the banjo set up ?
  7. looking good guys i love it that the s130 chassis is getting some more money put towards it in teh US now to!
  8. Looking good man seems like a good base to start from, as for the n42 being race ready from the factory... Not really .. not even close! They are used allot in racing but the cars back in the day used P31 heads with bigger valves due to the higher compression. An N42 needs to be welded in the chambers and machined down agian .. further the ports need work .. Anyhow there is no datsun head USDM available that is "race ready" Read the forum also on the cartech piece, you might want to look for an HKS box, i run one on my dads car and it is allot better then the Lug style box you put your eye on. There is loads of info on here! so enjoy
  9. 4 door m's im discovering more and more we did not have sweet swap ... agian ....
  10. Pontiac kid... im loving your ride!!!! a s130 brother .. but pure stylemastering!! As deleting the sway bar wont make it handle better. yet i love it thta low .. to bad i cant have it that low and still hanle without cutting up the entire car :S
  11. @ Skib: its a EFI tester @ Tony.. i guess in september we should talk to Frank at the machine shop
  12. working on a zx ... ready next year for the past two years
  13. The lowest sitting means fabbing it yourself... there is as far as i know only one ls kit. Further more drifters start using real road race suspension in Japan and europe insteda of stiffing it up more and more. Anyhow with 10k springs you wil have a big leaf spring called your unibody! a s30 aint all that stiff (at all) For that you are better off on a s130 One intresting point apart from the steer lock issue .. Powersteering??? why in the world? it totaly throws of any feel of where the front wheels are and what they are doing! I know modern race cars use it.. but i perosanlly hate it.. Having that said a s30 is so light, and running fairly skinny tires... (compared to) you really do need power steering? but if you really want to .. http://electricpowersteering.net/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4&zenid=4e86729f96c1f290bf75c53960b7d643
  14. That is why on most cars you remove the roof skin ...... Damn it will sure do something but hey When i was instructin there was on eguy who welded steam pipe and cut angels no bends! At least he did it himself and did not pay someboduy to do it!! Looking at the site he posted they are not bad mechanics ( i saw some good stuff to like the reinforcements) But cage building is something else!
  15. That i like !!!! Look at my car to i live in europe and have a ZX v8 too!!
  16. Yes there where factory slick top turbo's 2+2's in europe for sur(and canada i think) and i have seen one or two factry slick top turbos on ebay over the years, and one in person on a yard in Ontario CA a few years back. So they do exist, but they are rare.. Man imagine being the 80's you are allready buying the turbo... you would want to have all the bling!!! Now in 2010 with racing in mind in my book.. t tops are not what you want. Tony has a sheet showing it is lighter than his 260, hence this was after the interior strip and with the full fpr hood. So he can go in specs, i can weigh it now in holland, but it doesnt have the engine in now. as for rear trailing arm adjustment i use a set of a e30 BMW but im not satified with them ( or any of the soutions above)So im looking into a 'dtm' style e30 m3 set up using heim joints for my white turd
  17. haha that is a very 'back yard build" LOL Classic!!!
  18. I say that s13 is your best bet! You can cobnvert the front with either z31 or s13 parts. whereas i used z31 struts to keep it simple. As for the mounts Talk to the aussie guys here or do as we international folks need to do all the time.. Ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-Skyline-R31-6cyl-engine-mount-NEW-PAIR-/350459962253?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51990aa38d http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-Skyline-R31-engine-and-trans-mount-NEW-manual-/270735101699?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f0911cf03 They state Australia only but shoot them mail and ask if they can send them.. otherwhise ask one of the guys above friendly
  19. Hot enough for mee.. the car looked bitching for sure !
  20. Well i mounted Yetterbens Tripple carb blow through set up to my dads cars ( 83 280zx with euro L28ET and T04) They are stock 40 MM webbers that could have used a rebuilt i guess. The problem is finding the HKS surge tank. It is easy(er) in Japan, you want to saty away from cartech systems.. A long story short ... they @#$ compared to the HKS system in a way i cant describe here Apart from that id say it doesnt add much complexity to the build. Only thing that i find to be a pita is when synchronising them as you need to have to remove the bolted tank and it uses a gazillion m6's bolts. and you need a wideband to see what is happing, frankly as with tripples a dyno sessions is the best way to go! You need to take into account that you if you go blow through, you are best to stay away from webbers as over 13PSI the brass floats collaps, a Mikuni or Dellorto doesnt have this problem as it has composite floats. so i would go for a set of those. Also you need a short runner (Mikuni FET) intake as i.e. the cannon manifold for tripples with the tank on might hit your brake booster etc. And if you want bang for the buck .. Yetterben ( search his post) made over 350 RWHP on a NA junkyard l28 with these and a cheap Ebay turbo slapped on!! All for arround US 600 if memory serves me right. My dad makes 231 to the wheels at ~7,5 PSI but tuning is still off so that might get a few HP higher. So what am i saying here GO FOR IT .. it is so retro cool!! haha
  21. Well Forcer your idea makes sence a s13 is a good multi link desing and has a huge aftermarket following when it comes to parts! Going from a niche market car to another does not, especially since the front geometrics of a s130 are superior over an s30 from a desing point of view. Thoug like mentioned before, they give far to little caster for serious racing... The Turbo Electramotive and Bob Sharp cars had tubular front ends with allot more caster than the stock front end gives. I modified my strut towers in fashion that it gives me allot more than stock. It alterd the handling of the car in a very pleasant manner! I dont claim to be mister know all, but i do have my share experiance with s130's as i personally love them more then a s30. So i guess that and actively tracking and developing my s130 makes me fairly experianced with things that work on a s130 and things that do not. BTW Forcer if you go s13! talk to 260DET
  22. Is your crossmeber even straight? or is your LCA bent ? as there should be no diffrence. How are the mointing points, bushings and condition of your tension rods? Judging from the pictures the car seems to be in good shape so... Im with Leon on this one .... look at the problem that is causing it instead of band aiding
  23. lol BTW Tony can sate for the car aswel let me dig up some pictures here
  24. Like suggested ( it is a legal requirment for our yearly inspection in europe) 'ziptie'them down! Most pearches have little holes. I use safetywire to do it, this way they stay in place, and you can have your wife driving it with peace of heart!
  25. I had it slip off a lash pad once due to a misfire. Would the cryo process have anything to do with it? otherwhise my bet would be a misfire and a bad (metal weakness) lashpad... I would not worry to much about it, if you do worry about the qaulity, change all the pads by other ones from a diffrent supplier.
