How to install S13 Coilovers on 280zx (and poly bushings)

I did this swap years ago no using HKS coil overs for my ZXR, the track zx i use Ksports for now. On my ZXR i use a z31 spindle and z31 steering knuckles, it makes the 5 lug z32 tt swap a walk in the park ( and works great for my car) only disavantage on it is that i had to extend my a arms, to make up for the diffrence in camber between the z31 and s130 spindels ( did that with a heim joint so i can adjust them) And i mounted reinforced strut tower tops where the mounting points are located further to the engine bay. -
cool swap man !! and im still looking for that roof band you have Anyway why mount the turbo upfront ? seems you have plenty of room at the sides !

Naturally a good s30 is a hell of car on a track, but a s130 ( stock so no wide body's) to a s30 has a wider track lower center point of gravity and longer wheel base.. and the trailing arms aren’t that stupid either. And then there is the statement that everybody makes about the weight … and yes an early 240 is lighter.. and maybe a 240 in general is.. but everything after compared to a early s130 is not…. And even a 83 bling machine zx isn’t all that heavy as people state! Anyway i have 8,5 for the track ( in the pictures) and 17x10's in the rear and 17 by 8,5 in the front. And yes Gollum i agree it is a bold statement that i might make to finally get a point across that 260DET puts out more refined; "Most people when expressing an opinion on the S130 have never driven one in good condition, they are merely repeating what someone else has said" I disagree to the recongnised part of 260det's post.. that only has to do with SMOG laws....... nothing more.. On the other hand this keeps them cheap so i can buy more MOWAHAHA

I dont think the rear end is the problem on z's ( zx's for that matter') I agree clutch and gearbox need attention.. but i.e. a z32 gearbox could solve that! The problem is proper tune, proper parts, proper usage.... -

Jeffs car ... Well i have exactly 533,2 RWHP but no boost and about 6,7 liter to do it haha. Relaible and more than 500 hp in a l6 is relative i guess. Its what you expect off it. It wont go for 300k miles but with the right care i guess 50k should be possible. how many miles do you have Tim ? -
i had a m60b40 in my s130 it will fit you just need to do sometng with the front sway bar and with the manifolds. In regard to the whole project i agree with aarang.. with enough time and money..... BTW they fit in an e30 too However you live in CA ? You need all the smog stuff.. and the exhaust manifolds are part of teh system .. that is your bottleneck in the project

Ok fair enough! any vids of it at VIR orso so i can hear what you mean with noise ? I dont mind the gear noise, but thanks for the heads up if i want comfort ill take the 5 series and up teh seat heating one more step . Im debating a 6 speed as it would make cruising and .. well extreme high speeds possible! For now i have a t5 so lets deal with that first. ill contact gforce this week and judge from there! Then i really like to look into making long tube headers ( custom) as i feel ther is allot to be gained from it. And like you said.. not that a 406 will be short on HP anyway, but it is one of the in my mind things. What carb are you running

hmm intresting, apparently it does hold up to to the power according to the site. But how much will it set me back? for about 2200usd you kan buy a TKO aswel. Why did you decide to go with the T5? As i share your thought/opinion .. a sports car needs a manual.. period... And i guess the use of 'block huggers' wil tone down the listed HP so only way to find out for real is off to the dyno when it is in!

something like this where it is functional you mean or just a mock up.. actually a 88 turbo hub fits on a 280zx spindle with the same bearings.. and you just need a small plate to make the r33/z32 tt alu 4 pots fit.... -

haha well dyno 'bench' ill post print outs soon! Only debate now is: A: keep my victor jr megasquirt set up witch barely fits under the hood.. So in other words go FI B: Keep the Barry Grant Carb it has now witch means i have to mount my Carbon fiber beta motorsport 4" cowl and cut my hood.. as it wont fit even if i wanted it.. So Carb or FI... So tony Ian will still be on the market for a SBF and gearbox.. im just in the market for the gearbox next April .. i guess we should try to get; "take two and get discount" at TKO As my current T5 will not stand the 665nm ( allmost 500FT lbs i guess) Any other good gearboxes that stand this HP ?

I did it .. the 305 was tad to mild in my book.. It made the car perfectly controllable and driveable on track. but you always want more.. And ever since i drove Jeffp's car i want that adrealine rush of fear due to power ( i drove it mapping it with bernard at over 600RWHP) So i got a deal on a ex stock car f1 built 406 (good parts) it made 530 RWHP on the bench and 665NM of torque. It comes with a fecet fuel pump system Barry Grant carb.. tilton qauter master... complete from carb to pan SO i guess im going carb!! YEhaa im stocked 500+ here i am.. Just had to share .. i know a lame post

Only works on an s130 .. you just need the engine mounts .. it saves fab work and the driveline angles are spot on ... making your own might throw these off.. -
Could be the just changed this in FIA aswel ( so it can pas) but that was not the point ALWAYS check your sactioning body before building ! This one is FIA compliant..

Va-motorsport (see my cage) it was built by him aswel, Ad is a personal friend, and i can tell you they are a very competent shop. They do allot of work for Paris Dakar and various european races.
