  3. Ok, can someone explain to me what is the formula conversion to convert millimeters to CFM in regards to throttle bodies and carbs? Example, what would be the CFM rating on a TB that is say 60mm? Only correct answer will be appreciated. Mark
  4. Ratfink, Eagle makes a 6.25 rod for the SBC and they are way stronger than the Inline Ford. Eagle also has a complete Forged rotating assemblies using that rod. Mark
  5. HotRod Magazine did a 240Z with a Supercharged SBC and narrowed 9inch in May, June, July of 1985. I'm not sure if it was a four-link setup though? Mark

  8. Yes sir, found one at a local U-Pull-it and after about an hour of busted knuckles and a few choice words it was mine for a whopping $45!!! Life is good! Now what do I need to put this puppy in my 72 240Z? P.S. I also found two 81 Maxima's that have the correct caliper brackets. If interested call me with an offer and I'll pull them for you. Mark
  9. Well according to IZCC 84-89 R200's used a 12mm bolt. Anything before that used 10mm. Mark

  13. Yes, Chico is about two hours north of Sacramento. The owner of the polishing shop doesn't do any chroming or polishing of chrome. Thats not to say he can't make aluminum look like chrome My job requires me to go to Chico at least once a week, so I can ask him if anyone is interested.   14. I see that MSA offers a four piston caliper kit for $499. Kit includes two front calipers, semi-metalic pads and hoses. Is this a good price? If so, anyone know who makes these? I'm staying four lug so this would seem to be a good way to go. Mark
  15. Polished makes more sense to me. I know a shop in Chico, CA that does nothing but polishing. The owner can polish damn near anything. I saw a set of aluminum rims he did and at first I thought they were chrome He apparently has a good reputation in the show car community and his prices are reasonable about $70 a rim. So if you're interested let me know. Mark
  16. While I was out making sales calls I stopped at one of my local wrecking yards and talked with the owner for sometime. Come to find out he has a 90 Mustang GT that he claims has fairly low miles (60-80k) It is a 5.0 with WCT5 he told me that I could have the complete engine/trans with computer and wiring harness for $1000. Fast Frog, why not get the LS1 engine kit from GM Performance? $5659.95 gets you a NEW LS1 rated at 320hp/345Ft/Ibs, comes with injectors, manifolds, flexplate, ECM, wiring harness and warranty!   19. What about the kit that MSA offers? In their latest catalog they claim that theirs mounts the engine closest to the firewall, there is an overhead picture showing engine placement. I see that they also sell full length 1 3/4 headers. Any idea if these headers can be used with JTR engine mounts or MSA only?
  20. The stock axles are made by Spicer which should be strong enough for most applications. Lug spacing is 5 on 5 1/2 which is old Ford/Dodge Truck I believe. Anyway there is plenty of room to drill and tap whatever wheel spacing you prefer. I got this rear end for free, so I would consider it a viable alternative cost wise. Isn't the Ford LSD carriage that holds the LSD too wide and heavy for the Z? Will the half shafts hold up? Mark
  21. Scottie, yes the Dana 44 is narrower than a Z IRS by about six inches. This rear end can be found in the "old" mail carrier jeeps that were leaf spring. But since you're a drag racer, going to a 4-link would be relatively easy using a kit from a company like Alston's Chassisworks here in Sacramento(four miles from my house).Check them out at www.cachassisworks.com My plan is to use the existing strut/spring to tower assembly and fab a bracket for them to the axle housing and then use two upper control arms and and two lower control arms.   22. Scottie, I was trying to say that it is 51 inches WIDEfrom hub to hub. And it is far stronger in its stock condition than any R200 period. Just thought you might be interested.
  23. Hey Scottie, I lucked into(for free)a Dana 44 out of a old mail jeep. It is 51" hub to hub and has a posi with 3.73 gears. Billet axles and disc brakes are available in kit form for this rear end from 4X4 suppliers. I have been told that properly setup a Dana 44 can handle between 600-700 HP. Mark
  24. Yes it is a solid axle. I decided on a solid for several reasons, first, my 72z has a R180 and while a could have purchased an R200 fairly cheap, I would have still needed an LSD, CV's and five lug conversion! Properly set-up a solid axle will perform just fine and be much stronger and easier to upgrade. I'am looking at using an upper and lower control arm suspension with coil springs and shocks or coilovers and a rear sway bar. Mark
  25. Picked up a Dana 44 out of an old mail jeep this past weekend from one of my accounts. It measures just under 51" from hub to hub and comes with a posi and 3.73 gears And the best part is I got it for FREE It has drum brakes but was told that there is a disk brake conversion kit available. Also, it has 5 on 5 1/2 lugs(Ford truck I believe) but can be changed to whatever. If anyone has any questions, just ask. Mark
