    sds efi - purchase

I'm interested in the SDS for my Chevy V6 build-up. Feb-March would be good for me. Tax return and all. Mark ------------------ " Now where did I set my beer? "
  2. Wow Thanks for the quick response guys. After further research, I've found that most F-Body owners that run blowers use Vortech or ATI. I really don't want to take the chance of purchasing crap! So I'll probably go with a ATI unit. BLKMGK, wasn't it you who said you had a friend who is an ATI dealer? John Scott, do you know of anyone who makes a forged crankshaft for the even-fire 4.3? Thanks again for all the great advise. Mark ------------------ " Now where did I set my beer? "
  3. Thanks for the quick response John, Powerdyne makes three psi levels, 4.5, 6 and 9psi. I did find a company called Kruger Performance Products that makes 11 psi and 13 psi drive pulleys for the Powerdyne, as well as, By-Pass valve kits and Air to Air Intercoolers. As for customer complaints, I realize all product manufactures have their share of complaints and I'm looking for feedback from people who have experience with them. I like the ATI Prochargers strenghths, but like you said, It's noisy! I like the idea of a " quiet blower" and no oil lines to boot! Both Powerdyne and Kruger products can be found at www.powerdyne.com/ and www.namotorsport.com/ Also, I'm looking at a compression ratio of between 8 or 9 to 1 with aluminum heads. Thanks again, Mark [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited November 13, 2000).]
  4. Has anyone had any experience with PowerDyne superchargers? Positive or negative? I may be able to get a near wholesale price on one for my V6 build-up. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Mark
  5. Morgan, check out Chassisworks, they make a cage for early model Z's. www.cachassisworks.com Mark ------------------
  6. Found this link the other nite. Great list of links for engines and more! check it out. http://roadsters.com/engines.html Mark ------------------ [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited October 22, 2000).] [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited October 22, 2000).]
  7. The link to Medatronics Corp also mentioned a street version of this transmission made with the same alloy, but are helical cut for a quieter gear. P.S. I only posted this to show that a T-5 could be used for "HIGH-HP" applications and where weight is also a concern. Mark
  8. For those who wished they could use a T5, but need something stronger, Medatronics Corp. has developed a WC T5 that can handle up to 450 FT LBS. of TORQUE! For more info, go to www.5speeds.com/racing/jt5rc.html P.S. A WCT5 is about 50 LBS. lighter than a T-56. Mark ------------------ [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited October 15, 2000).]
  9. Ross C, Ran across this site awhile back, it appears they sell kits and custom set-ups, including converting an existing manifold. Check it out. www.rancefi.com Mark [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited September 15, 2000).]
  10. Ran across this site awhile ago, thought it looked interesting. Mark www.rancefi.com/ ------------------
  11. Mikelly, If ease of installation and tune-ablilty is what you're looking for then I would sugguest Endelrock's Performer RPM Pro-Flo EFI. At just under 2k it's a steal. Also Holly's 1000 CFM MPI Pro-Jection II is reported to be a great system at around 2k. Jeg's sells both. Mark ------------------ [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited August 11, 2000).]
  12. Hey Drax240z, Checkout "Headers by Ed" their URL is www.headersbyed.com They stock all types of weld-els and kits for just about anything. Mark ------------------
  13. Scarp, You lucky blankety blank! Take everything! I'm not a GN expert, but you can go to www.gnttype.org and search for the stage building section (stock thru wild). Man I envy you. Keep us posted! Mark ------------------
  14. Hey Mikelly, Try Headers by Ed, if they don't carry them they have kits that allow you to make your own. www.headersbyed.com [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited August 07, 2000).]
  15. I read a Road&Track acticle from the late 70's or early 80's that said the ZX's improved aerodynamics was most do to the front windshield having a more sloped angle. In SpeedRacers article about his beautiful 250 GTO he states that Ferrari did extensive wind tunnel testing resulting in a very slippery design. Mark
  16. Ran across this while surfin the other nite. Looked interesting... Mark http://hpautoproducts.com/EngBuilders.html ------------------
  17. Spot, thanks for your comments, as for cost vs power, a properly prepared 3.4 V6 will run me approximately $2500-$3000, this includes the purchase price of a complete motor with SFI from a wrecking yard,(see above posts) adding a ATI P600 w/bypass valve adds another say $2500 so the price is about the same as a stout sbc, but at about 1/3 of the weight! This will increase handling and acceleration significantly, also I can't wait to see the look on the faces of those I've just dusted after opening my hood! 18. Man I can't find a May 2000 issue of HOTROD anywhere! I agree that the site is short on tech, but they do show several pic's of their product on a Vortec head. Thanks for you're comments. Mark ------------------ [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited July 15, 2000).]
  19. Spotted this in the July issue of HOTROD Mag: Headers by Ed sells headers and header kits! for about any engine/chassis combination you could think of. Check out their site at: www.headersbyed.com Mark ------------------ [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited July 15, 2000).]
  20. Hey Folks, This variable roller rocker seems interesting. Anybody else think so? Speak up and leave post. Mark ------------------
  21. John Scott, You never did answer my question about whether youre crankshaft was forged or not. I've read and been told that the cast 3.4 crankshaft if properly prepared is good to 450-500 HP. SpencZ, please post youre parts for sale in the buy/sell section of this site. BLKMGK, any word on the pricing for a P600 ProCharger with bypass and 12 rib pulley? Mark ------------------
  22. Count me in on a group buy! I still need to pick up a R200 from my local Nissan Wrecking yard, (they're about $200 here non-LSD). Factory LSD's are about as rare as 15 yr. old virgins out here. I've got a feeling that it's not going to be cheap anyway I go. If money was no object, I'd install a IRS unit from Concours West Industies. They have Jag, 9" Ford and Quickchange units up to 750HP! For those who have BIG Bucks or like to dream check them out at: www.cwiinc.com/ ------------------ [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited July 11, 2000).]
  23. Rags, Some Z's came with T-5's! So you might want to use a Datsun T-5. Mark ------------------
  24. Scarp, Sounds like it's time for an ATI ProCharger! John Scott and BLKMGK are the two you need to talk too! Man you're fast, that new ride is already running? You'll be even faster with the blower. Mark P.S. Check out the Variable Roller Rocker post in this area and leave a comment. Thanks ------------------ [This message has been edited by Z-Dreamer (edited July 10, 2000).]
  25. Datsunlover, I like the idea! The 200SX does share many things with late model and some early model Z's. It would be a worthy project please feel free to ask any questions on this site. Mark ------------------
