  1. Small update for today. I got my intercooler set up from Streeteg on this forum. Its really nice and fits like a charm. Streeteg was a pleasure to deal with, he had a reasonable price and shipping wasnt bad at all. He also sent exactly what he said he would and sent it immediatly after reciving my payment via paypal. Thanks streeteg! Also my grinder died so im kind of at a stand still on my project. I cut off one of the stock 280z triangle tranny mounts and it died half way through the second one. I need to get the other off so I can mount the tranny and engine so im kind of at a stand still. A friend of mine is going to let me use his so tomarrow ill be cutting them off. Intercooler setup Streeteg also hooked me up with the crossover pipe and stock blow off valve since mine were damaged.
  2. ohh i see you have a full sized intercooler, very nice! Thanks for hooking me up with your stock RB25 one Eventually i hope to mod mine like yours, great job!
  3. Havent done anything to the car in a few days because ive been pretty busy. However I put in an order for an oil pick up and an oil pan for a 200ZR and a stock intercooler set up. I'll post pics when i get them and update when I do something
  4. nice find! now you can join the RB powered poop green Z club like me :]
  5. Sweet Stony thanks a lot! Thats just in my price range:-D Yeah i was toying with the idea of a U bend and that just didnt seem right because ive never seen it done before.
  6. Any idea where i could get one of those stock intercoolers? All my search efforts came up with expensive aftermarket set ups. I am low on cash right now but i dont want to jury rig things and am willing to go with what the original set up is. And yeah im pretty sure that is oil. Gonna pull the turbo pretty soon.
  7. I've done a lot of searching and its difficult to tell what goes here. I am not going to be installing an intercooler right now (i will eventually when i get a Trust intake plenum) so how do these two pipes connect. Part numbers or explanation would be great. I am installing the engine into a 280z. I don't really want to jury rig it though, i want to do it right. And yes, I am aware that my crossover pipe has a dent in the top, the idiots at UPS piled a bunch of crap on top of it. Thanks a lot guys in advance!
  8. You need to install an oil pickup and pan out of a 200ZR. Heres the parts number for the oil pickup 15050-20P03 and heres the parts number for the oil pan 11110-20P00. Put those into google to find them. Its usually about $180 for both of em.
  9. UPDATE: Went down to McKinney Motorsports in Murrieta, California. Its about an hour drive from my house and i wanted to drive over to pick up my parts and see how legit they are. I got an engine and transmission mount kit and a drive shaft all meant for a 280z and RB25 swap. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They let me go check out their projects and customer cars as well. Very nice and got my parts done when they said they would. Will do business with them again. I'm going to have them do my harness for me because I am not a skilled electrician. These guys are legit and I would recommend that if anyone is doing an RB swap into a Z that you buy their mount kits and drive shaft. They are very good quality. http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com/products I have some pics below. My pops wrenching on the waterpump pulley which was a pain to get off because it was jammed on. I am going to go with an electric fan so I'm going to can the broke fan that it came with. Tranny Mount. (sorry its kind of a bad shot of it) Driver side (left hand drive) engine mount Passenger side (left hand drive) engine mount Driveshaft Had to pull the clutch off to get the engine on my engine stand and found a nice little surprise...
  10. Im about 99.99% sure that my engine came out of a crashed car but it looks to be pretty solid so far.
  11. Good start too bad its all negative =/
  12. Nice runs! I'm in the process of putting together a 75' 280z with an RB25 engine. Hopefully my car will run as good as yours when I'm done =) Is your Z a daily driver?
  13. I thought it would be a good idea to pool everyones thoughts and experiences into one thread on the best and worst places to buy RB engines. As many of the people on this forum are from the US and have difficulty finding good places to buy them from. If you have done business with the company then post the company name, website, general description and your experience with them. ****Please no speculation as to what you have heard only what you personally have experienced**** I bought an RB25DET engine and transmission from JazzPro Parts in Dallas, Texas. I did not personally go to order it I bought it through their website http://www.jazzproparts.com and did not have a good experience with them. They had horrible communication and never answered my calls. It took a week and a paypal dispute to get any information from them. They get their engines from Osaka Japanese Auto Parts in Canada. The engine is in decent shape and the prices were reasonable. VERDICT: Do not buy from them unless you dont mind getting jacked around for a week or two. Real Pics of the engine they sent me and some external damage.
  14. Well if they order the engines through Osaka and Osaka messes around and then Jazz messes around then the person that buys it gets to wait two times as long.
  15. UPDATE: Got my engine. Still haven't got it out the back of the truck haha. I gotta take off the tranny to get it off with my lift. Overhead View Front View Side View with me standing behind it
  16. Ok ill be sure to check the tab and the area around the water pump. I actually had to take it to a friends shop to get it unloaded. The idiots at UPS didn't send a truck with a lift on it so it was either me shell out 200 bucks for a new truck or get my friend to use his forklift. He had to get out of there pretty quick so I'm going to pick it up tomorrow morning in my truck. I haven't put the engine under a magnifying glass yet, just noted the broken fan etc. By the way what do you guys think of creating an RB specific guide on the best and worst places to buy them. I can start one up if you guys like the idea.
  17. Hey guys I found this while doing some searching. This is by far the most comprehensive rb25 into s30 guide I have ever come across. I haven't seen it on here so i decided to post it for your guy's benefit. If its already here please delete my post. By the way i did not compose this. http://gripjunkies.larrychendesign.com/rb/ -Please make this a sticky it is extremely helpful-
  18. I finally got a hold of them. What I was able to do was set up a dispute on PayPal and that sure got them. You can make a claim against them and PayPal will recover the money for you. I am guessing that they already had spent the money and they probably crapped their pants when they heard that so I got calls right away from several people in the company and they overnighted the engine and I just got it today. It has a damaged oxygen senor and the cooling fan has half the blades broke off but everything else looks to be in good shape. They do not import the engines a company in Canada does called "Osaka Japanese Auto Parts" you would probably be better off buying from them. If you guys buy from anyone be sure to use PayPal they really help you out. If that is what it takes to get your engine that you bought then i sure wouldn't recommend that any of you guys buy from JazzPro even if my engine turns out to be... (insert colorful metaphor here). Thanks guys for your help and concern.
  19. wow thats a hell of a job man! hate to go off topic but do you think something similar would be necessary for an rb25? Im planning on installing one of those in my 280z. Would love to have done a 26 but i just cant afford it right now =/ By the way I like the anti theft idea of yours thats pretty clever.
  20. Thought I'd post my project. Its a 1975 280z. $100 Z projects do exist, you just gotta get lucky. I got this one without the engine and trans and its pretty straight. The guy that was selling it was tired of getting jacked around by people that didnt have the money (it was posted for $450). So he said hed just give it to me for $100 because he was moving and his wife was getting pissed. I'm waiting on an RB25 engine and trans at the moment, however I may cancel the order and take my business else ware. -DO NOT BUY FROM JAZZPRO PARTS- they have horrible service and i am getting the vibe that they are trying to rip me for $2700 and that aint gonna happen. Anyway heres some Pics. Thanks for looking! I'll update when I get my engine -.-
  21. Yeah i know what you guys are saying as regards to the lack of communication issue. I was not aware that they didnt store their RB engines at that location, thanks 260zshooter, when i called to order I asked them to check a few things on the engine and they went and "checked" which was a blatant lie. I did some research before i bought from these guys and I did not find anything negative. Apparently they are two faced and will screw some people over and some people are lucky and have nothing but good things to say. I cannot cancel the order through them but do you guys know if theres any other way? I used a credit card through paypal if that helps, however i do not know if they will help you.
  22. Hey guys I'm in the process of obtaining an RB25 engine and trans from Jazzpro Parts in Texas. I just wanted to let all you guys know that if your considering doing business with them its a major pain in the ass. My engine has been in limbo for about a week now and every time i call them they cannot give me any information as regards to the shipping for one reason or another. For instance someone will tell you to call back in two hours and when you do the guy with the information has gone home and you have to call back the next day. I have not gotten my engine yet so I cannot let you guys know on the condition of it. Its extreme frustrating to do business with these guys and I would advise against it.
  23. I always thought ricers painted their hood black because they couldnt get a carbon fiber one for some reason. You are obviously not a ricer, sheesh just look at those rims those are hot. Nice red paint as well.
  24. I almost bought one of those but they are kind of a lot and wont really do anything performance wise for the car. When I have a bigger budget ill pick one up for sure they look amazing.
