  1. Since there is a bulge on that side of the diff, that is how it is supposed to be so far as I know, and that is how I have seen pix of it. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Garage/6212/diffswap/diffswap.htm
  2. We sold the iron and steel that Japan used to shoot us with, during war "its business."
  3. The bright green one is important, as for the others I am not yet really sure. You can wire your own relay for the fuel pump. I'm working with the harness tonight and have cut out about 20-30% of it (by weight). Not done yet of course, but will not get very fancy in the cutting, just the bulk.
  4. For the ignition, whatever you like the specs of. As for the coil, I would not touch the MSD as they have a bad rep on these cars, many go bad within a couple days, and nobody really knows why they just do. Warranty replacements that get sent out, do the same thing often, sometimes not. Guy in the 9s runs a Crane http://magoo.noid.org/~lj/
  5. There is nothing wrong with voicing opinion, it can change things - BUT - saying "I dont know" constantly doesn't help your cause one damn bit, nor does it instill the feeling that they know what the heck is going on or what they are talking about. If they honestly feel so upright and above war and that we supposedly want in this case, oil as property, why dont they pack up and leave since we murdered for this land that they now sit on.
  6. The French held Ferdinand Porsche prisoner in hopes he would make a "French Peoples Car" like he did for Germany, that took alot of life out of him and he didn't last much longer than that.
  7. Went all right, I kept forgetting where I'd set stuff down which really held things back, we worked until around 4am and I finished cleaning up etc around 6am. Are you hitting any of the upcoming Z events? I can bring your 17mm socket with me, or I can shoot it off in the mail if you dont think you'll make any. Thanks for the tewlz, I need to buy some when I feel like dumping money. My philosophy has always been getting the most for the $, which means buying the least amount of tools, unfortunately sometimes that costs me convenience and causes pain Its only rarely that I buy something that I may not need or that makes my life easier, I'm a stingy bastard. Some things for me are overkill though, like my top end re-do on the LT1.
  8. Engine bay already looks great!
  9. This is after the wheel swap? If so it must be the wheels or tires, could have even had Fix A Flat in one of the tires, who knows.
  10. More contact than with shoes? I dont know about that, but regardless - the rear brakes dont suck on these cars, what sucks is MAINTENANCE. Especially on a car that hasn't had the brakes done in awhile, my hub and drum were frozen together and it took me hours of work to change the shoes, including having to remove a portion of the rear end to take to a suitable location to bang the crap out of it and so on. Get some mean front brakes (and I dont mean 4 piston on stock lame rotors), and big tires, then you can use the brakes!

    Destroke?

Less side loading on the rings enables higher safe RPM levels, but the rest of the engine is going to have to be pretty stout from the bottom to the valve springs. Without a hideously huge McNasty cam in it, it would be a waste of effort, small cams wont make high end power. One huge disadvantage to high RPM (and horsepower) engines on street cars, bearing wire and therefore overall engine life.
  12. Well, premium was only about $1.20ish here IIRC not $2.35!
  13. Fuel pump & bracket, and a high PSI fuel filter, unless your going to re-use yours (if you got it), I am going to guess that the old coil wont work either, my car had GM HEI when I got it though, but most old cars had weak ignition systems. Thats all that came to mind, as long as you do have the harness You got all the relay boxes as well? Did you get it out in one peice cutting the car up? I ended up cutting the harness to get one relay box out on the pass side.
  14. They dont use the same flywheel as the T56 cars, but they were on the early Firehawks before the T56 was offered. I need these for my chair: http://www.zfdoc.com/casters.htm
  15. With 425 HP you sure dont need a TH400. As for the rear, I know some have swapped but I dont know details as I dont drag, sorry
  16. I thought that all of the Brodix products were basically castings ready for porting, as if to say not really a finished product. AFRs are almost the same way, they flow OK stock but for thier port size are not all that hot. LT1 402 with 195 AFRs home ported, 245/248 pulled about 480 RWHP. Its EFI but still SBC enough that I figure the comparison is ok, other than the added cubes of the 402 over your 385. If anything he may have a better torque band from the FI and stroke, but HP and shift points I would think to be relatively equal if you had the same cams. Your cam is so huge though it makes me think NASCAR and 8500-9500 RPM running. With that much lift on the cam too, are you sure your not hitting port stall? With most heads anything above .550 is going to be dead, although with your bigguns 215s I dont know.
  17. Because YOU are authenticated, we are not.
  18. My belief is that generally a low impedance performance wire is going to be about the same as another, other than workmanship quality as far as ends ripping off etc. Insulation is nice for high heat areas, but the wires in these cars dont see as much heat as a V8 with headers. For the Camaro I burned 8.8mm MSD wires in a couple months, fat insulation and HUGE plug boots, but headers are just too close on that car even with short (cold) plugs. I got some 1500º boot protectors after that, so if this is for a V8 car keep those things in mind. An alternative that may work almost as well is over the valve cover looms. I use Taylor 8mm now and with the boot protectors work great.
  19. L6 Engine Calc (compression etc) http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1292 Cam specs http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4925
  20. Georgia, probably because it requires authentication/login. I see nada and am on high speed internet. YahooFS (file share) requires authentication, or to be setup for open viewing, and I think you need to provide a link I dont think IMG URL mapping works from thier servers but I dont recall. Many hosts block remote viewing, unless your paying for a website/service etc I use RTV in tons of places and have zero problems with it, just make sure the surface is clean!
  21. Woah, that is HUGE. I have seen a 3650 pound 6 speed car with a 245/248 solid roller pull a 10.8@130 (slicks). That is with a 7k limit and shifting probably near the limit, so yes with a cam that huge you should have more RPM to work with, it also had smaller heads. How confident are you in your ignition setup?
