yeah thats the one. igot so many wires and dont know what ones to use for just the swap. The guy gave me the whole chassie harness along with the engine harness.
-
Thanks, i am trying to buy a FSM but i am just waiting for the guy to respond so i can send payment. Too bad you didnt have a scan of the page with the wiring for the engine. I have a diagram for the wires showing which colors go where but it doesnt really help for this mess. My harness looks so different than that of the non turbo.

Alright this is my last attempt for this thread, after a quick look at a 280zx non turbo, i see that their coolant temp sensor plug comes out from the fuel injector part of the main harness. How come my turbo harness doesnt have this. I cannot find my coolant temp plug anywhere. Every thing else is there, but that. I need this to swap in the correct oil pump and distributor. Any suggestions as to the easiest way to change the oil pump with the engine in the car? If no one responds to this post i am probably going to post this in a different forum. Thanks in advanced. Ryan

I know MG's have the same offset and bolt pattern, my next door neigbor has 3 of them. -
OK, maybe i didnt make myself clear. When you swap in a L28ET into a 77, is the only wiring you need to swap over is all the wiring connected to the ecu. I have almost the whole wiring harness (engine and chassie) off of a 83 turbo motor. I am just trying to fix what the old owner gave up on. Also, anyone have a 83 distrubuter for really cheap, the ears that bolt on are broken off, probably the reason it didnt work when he had it in. He was running a 77 distributer once he gave up on the 83 wiring harness. Damn this wiring is confusing. Please help a brother out. Oh yeah can anyone tell me about swapping guts from an AFM, i got the 77 and the 83, and he swapped them so he can run the 77 system on the 83. I cant afford to buy a new oil pump, distributer, and a AFM right now so i am trying to make due until after the 7th of april. I dont really drive the car but i want to be able to move it just in case.

All right, so far i have wired up the fuel injection part of the wiring harness, but the section that goes over to the pasenger side confuses me. Mostly with what hooks up to the battery cables. What wires go to the terminals? Pictures would be nice of some wiring of a L28ET in a First gen Z (mines a 77).

Couple quick questions, you said the downpipe will come with a test pipe. Is the test pipe removable or is it just basically a long downpipe? And also, These will fit the first gen Z's, right?

The 80's mustang 4 lug came 4x4.5 i believe. I will go check again. After checking: i have found a few that say 4.5 and some that 4.25. I am willing to bet they are 4.25 though. -

What about rims intended for other cars like the Cobra R rims. I was thinking about the 17x9's. For a Z with the ZG flares, how to they fit. I went into the archives and found on but he wasnt running the stock 4 lugs. These have a 14mm offset. If so, what would be a goos size tire. I am mostly worried with the front tires when turning to lock. -

I was considering them but i fear i wont be able to use them when Auto-xing and i hope to start road racing this year at the track. I am not sure if they would be allowed as the local tracks are very strict about wheel spacers. I figured i might be able to find like another OEM wheel that is around 15x7 that would fit for track use. -
Got it all hooked up and looking good. At idle it is pulling about 21 in. Hg. Unfortunatly it is now idling at 1000 rps where before it was at about 800rpms. Fist gear is not showing any positive vaccum but in second it is boosting to about 8psi and same through the rest of the gears.
-
What other cars use the same bolt pattern and offset as the 1st gen Z's? Do like the first gent supras or RX7's use the same size? I am just trying to search for some nice rims but just wanna make sure. Also, do the 4 lug 300zx's use the same offset or i should say close to?

I am having a helluva time pulling out that diffuser. I wish i had my manual. Thanks for the instructions. I had the center part off but gave up and decided to take off the whole dash. I was about 1/3 of the way there but i think i will try that diffuser one more time.
-
Damn i have been trying to pull out the glove compartment and it only comes out about two inches. I am working on it. I hope it work all though i doubt it.
-
Time isnt a problem as i dont drive the car yet bcuz of snow and no heat hooked up . But damn all i wanna do is pull out my clock and put my boost gauge in. I wish there was a quick wa to just reach in behind and pull it out.
-
How do you remove the dash on a 77 280Z? I have been trying to pull everything off and it is taking forever. Anyone know of a quick way to get out the center gauges?
-
I think we all have the same Autometer Autogauge gauge.
-
The car was ice cold and the timing is very retarted . It sounds like it has a cam though. . Well, i guess i am gonna go try and pull the dash so i can through in the gauge. Is there a quick way to get to the gauges withought pulling off the whole dash?
-
Also, I hooked it up to that vaccum line and it shows 10in. Hg for vaccum. Is this right for idle? I cant say much else because it is about 9pm and i did this fron the engine bay so i couldnt see it while i was driving to as when full boost is on as to what it is reading.
-
Where is the best spot to hook up a boost and vaccum gauge on a L28ET engine. What are the best lines to tap into. Is it the vaccum line comming off the fourth intake runner (from the firewall)? That seems to have the most vaccum. Anyone? Thanks . Ryan

I feel like a total moron. After playing around with the AFM for a while, i realized there was a connector hanging in front of it. Somehow the coolant temp sensor connector popped off. Plugged it in and now everything is gravy. But now my oil pressure is dangerously low, probably from mixing with all that extra fuel being dumped in. Just got some oil and a filter so i guess everything will be alright. Thank god. Good ting it is beautiful right now before we get hit with some crappy wheather. Thanks to you all. Ryan

Yeah i had the cover oof playing with it but i couldnt get a screwdriver to turn that screw because hw it sits deep sideways. I was cleaning it the other day and was moving the flap manually, do you think this could have changed it? When i was playing with it then pulled out the plug they wew only half fouled. The other half looked perfect. That was because i was playing with it i hope. Adjusted back the car was able to rev up all the way so i think that is definatly were the problem is. I will get back to yall shortly if i can figure out how to turn that damn screw.
-
alright now i feel like a newb. I have sourced the problem to my AFM. This is the first time i have had to work on a AFM, all of my other Nissans have been MAF, so this whole adjustment thing is new to me. Is it the screw under te cover that sits sideways? If so how do you get a screwdriver in to tighten it. While it is running if i push it back it runs great and revs... but it i just let it be it cuts out as i rev it and fouls the plugs. Do i have to take it off to adjust it? I would just look in the repair manual but it is on order because the place stopped carrying them in stock.
