  1. Ok i have a Holley 18 inch fuel rail i picked up but after comparing it to the stock fuel rail i had a thought that when i tap and put fittings in the sides, they will block the 1st and 6th injectors, starving them of fuel. The injectors would have to be right to the edge of the fuel rail and the fittings for the fuel line will go right over them. Anyone have any ideas to prevent this?
  2. Yeah, I saw those tables and i had one of those sinking feelings like damn, what am i going to get myself into. But it is good to hear nice things about it and no negative so far.
  3. Yeah i can get the basic system for a little under $800 and can get the other stuff pretty cheap so i am definatly leaning towards it but fear the tuning. Jut going through the web site it doesnt look so bad but it is probably more difficult than it looks. http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/C950/C950.html
  4. It is a very good deal for me becuase I can do the whole setup for under a grand. I probably wont even be setting it up until i put the car away for the winter, but I want to make sure when i finally get to it I will be ready. its too bad my job isnt any other distributor than companies geared at american muscle. It makes me a little nervous if i will be the first with this on their L-Series. Ryan
  5. Does anyone have any experience with this system. Being a Holley distributor, I get very good deals on all of their products and have started collecting some for my 83 turbo motor. The main concern i have is that there is no on i know with a L-series motor with this. Also I am not sure how it will fit up with a L series because of the crank sensor. There is probably an easy way to get around this but i havent figured it out yet, but I havent really tried, just mainly toying with the idea. Anyone that has any experience with this please let me know of any problems encountered with it. Thanks, Ryan
  6. Ok, from what i thought was normal on this car, i read something different. Does anyone else have 0 boost in 1st and normal boost in every other gear? This may sound stupid, but i was told that the Z didnt boost in first gear before as mine doesnt, I figured from traction issues, and normal in the rest. I was reading bout some boosting quite high in first. Is something broken?
  7. OK, 2 weeks ago my car ran great. For the last two weeks it had done nothing but rain so i havent even gone out to start it. Because of the 280Z hood louvers my engine gets quite wet. So i try and start it and it just cranks.... no spark. So i pull the dizzy car and notice the contact points for the rotor are white. Is that from water, i am gonna change them when the new one comes in on order. Would this cause no spark or it it somewhere else you think.
  8. Well, the weather has been awfull the last couple of weeks so i havent even touched the datsun in about a week and a half. All it has done is rained. I went out to start her yesterday and it just cranked. I changed the O2 sensor and plugs but nada. This thing ran very nice last time i had it out. Now nothing. I have replace most things on the car from doing the turbo swap into her, but this is odd. I checked all the connections and played with timing fuel but nada. Anyone else ever encounter something like this?
  9. Hey Juan, I believe that it is a RRFPR that is why it has the the vacuum line on it. A FPR doesnt require vacuum pressure, unlike a RRFPR. -Ryan
  10. http://www.fuelsystem.co.uk/pbv.htm Sorry for the big pic Ryan
  11. with the new rx8 comming out nissan had to beef up their 350Z. I am also glad that the skyline is dropping the inline 6 and going to a modified 350Z motor, I think. It is listed with a V6 but it didnt list if it was forced induction but i would expect it to be. I think Nissan saw how big the 350Z had gotten and now they are out of the red they felt it is time to pull out the big guns. I just hope they can keep the prices down some to compete. The beefier 350Z would need to remain near 30k. Skyline would end up being 45 i bet. That will not be too affordable but it would be considered a supercar most likely.
  12. One of my friends whom work for nissan came to me yesterday and told me they just got the new catalog for upcomming models. Inside was the new 350Z convertable, a beefed up 350Z, and best of all a Nissan Skyline arriving soon. Why hasn't nissan officially released this info. It will be V6 powered but that is all he knows so far. They havent given much info as of yet. But it is officially in thier upcoming catalog. Looks like 2004 will be nice after all.
  13. It looks like an oldsmobile. I think cutlass supremes. I am not a big fan of them but that is just my opinion.
  14. A few people on Zcar.com have had them work positively in their cars. I was thinking about doing the same but not till i switch to 300ZX turbo ecu and MAF. These work easilly where the 280ZX is much more difficult to wire. Seach over there and see what comes up.
  15. Stock injectors but the AFM was swapped out before for an NA application and i just swapped everything back in and am trying to put it back to where it should be. I guess i am just going to wait for my shipment. Should be here soon. It was sent out a while ago.
  16. Timing at 18 deg would probably do it to I think. I just checked and i am at 18 with the dizzy maxed advanced. This means i have to get back under and drop the oil pump. I can do thins in 15 mins now but i think i might wait until my oil pump springs get here from MSA. That way i only have to drop it once. Damn, I had a feeling i was one tooth off. Oh, well.
  17. I have tried leaning out the AFM as far as it would go, but i am still running very rich. I have gone through 2 O2 sensors. I just hooked up a A/F ratio gauge and it was showing going back and forth stoich and rich at idle. I cant seem to lean it up enough. Where is the spring that can be tightened for the flap. I have been playing with the triangle part inside adjusting it back to get leaner, but it barely makes a difference on the gauge even though the car will stall from not enough air. Maybe my TPS is off? I tried it a little and it didnt seem to do alot. I will try it again, but maybe my TPS is going south. The cover was missing when i got the car so maybe that is the problem. I dont know but 15 a pop for O2's is damn expensive to go through everyday.
  18. If it is just a cruiser and not a race car then maybe. This way you can just take it out withought really worrying to have to constantly adjust the valves. Not a bad option if you use it just for some summer cruises and weekends and like hassle free low maintainecne. I am debating switching over to a non hydrolic so i can get a high end cam. The head only cm on the 83 turbo's and flowed very good. Basically the same as the regular P90, but hydrolic and labeled P90A. Not all P90A's were hydro, but i bet most of those were converted and actully were hydro.
  19. I happen to have one. There are some advantages as quieter valvetrain and no need to adjust them. But there are many other disadvantages. For one parts are hard and expensive to come by. Nissan doesnt even carry them. They also dont like high lift cams because they cant bleed down fast enough. There are others, but it is getting late and i have an exam at 9 am.
  20. No reply from them as of yet. I would like to call, them but damn they are long distance. Does anyone live near them where it isnt long distance. I wouldnt mind it if I knew how much and was going to order, but i dont feel like mayking multiple long distance calls to these guys. Hopefully they respond by email first.
  21. sweet buying one right now. Boy am i gonna bury myself with this car.
  22. Thats awsome. He must of been a real cool guy. Maybe i will have to go pay him a visit. Does it blend in good with the stock Z hood lines in the center. It is tough to tell by the pic.
  23. I have heard some not good things about them lately about fitment issues of their products but if they are the only ones left then they will do if the price is right. Also mike, what hood scoop is that. I have an ugly hole cut there by the previous owner and want a scoop to fill it and i like that sublte scoop but couldnt find a pic of one on a Z but yours.
  24. Does anyone know if there is a company still selling fiberglass hatches. I am going to be replacing mine soon and have already replaced every part i could so far with fiberglass. I am using this car for mainly road racing when its body and suspension is finally done. I have seen some pictures but all lead to Arizona Z who isnt making them now. Anyone else know or have one for sale?
  25. tomarrow night i will have to go through and check. I have pretty much all of the vaccum lines hooked up to at least eachother, but now that you mention it my vaccum gauge is only reading like 19-20 hg where it used to read like 24. I bet this is my problem. I guess i will know tomarrow night.
