  1. Honestly, right now, I think my main problem is with the tuning issues I have. I've tweaked and tweaked and I'm still not getting any improvements. I think it's the torque converter that's holding up progress. But, I'm not gonna go spend the money on getting a good/better one for it especially if I can find a reasonably priced WC-T5. I hate auto's Plus, I'm soooooooooooooo tired of looking at this hood !!
  2. wow -- that was quick .... anyway Just some minor rust bubbling, some of the front body panels aren't lining up right (it's been hit in the right front prior to me owning it), paint oxidizing, and the bondo/filler work is starting to crack.
  3. Well it's been a while since I've posted an update. Well here ya go. Progress has been slow and it seems that the longer I have the car the worse off it gets. I'm really starting to lose interest and contemplating selling again, because nothing has seemed to go right from the beginning. 1st I get screwed on a motor (Thanks again Gary), 2nd, I just can't get this thing dialed in, no matter how hard I try. 3rd) the el'cheapo paintjob and body work from the P/O is really starting to look crappy these days. 4th) have no time to work on it anyway ... and there's more stuff, I just can't think of them right now .. I hit the majors though. Oh, and I know the swap stuff (engine compartment) isn't purty but hey, it runs!!! I'm still waiting on the C/F reproduction of my "cool" hood --- that explains the eyesore thats there now. Thanks again RedNeckZ for the Freebie to hold me over!!! Well enough whining, heres the pics............ Constructive criticism welcomed!!!!
  4. I agree, I went to the top dog high performance race guy in the old town I was in and it was less than 400 from the header back, 2 1/2" pipes with 2 turbo tube mufflers.
  5. I had the same problem when I was running a non-bypass style oil filter adapter. I replaced it with a stock type ................ problem solved.
  6. Man, $1800. if I had the cash and the time to fly out there to pick it up, I'd be all over that like white on rice in a styrafoam cup on a paper plate in a snowstorm..... I'm bout to give up on mine. Why not start fresh
  7. HEY Congrat's Dave, thats good to hear that everything went well!!! That's great.!!!!! Ummmm, yeah -- just found out that I've got another one on the way too!! Don;t know if I'm too excited about this one though. Kinda nervous at the whole life situation right now. Anyway......., congratulations, once again.!!! Marcus
  8. Gawd, I hate people that are making more progress than me ........ Nevertheless, beautiful work man.!!!!
  9. Yeah, I've been looking for a plug and play type bulb that would seal correctly with the clips on the back of the headlight. Any info on anything you've done that would help would be great, in the meantime -- I'll continue my search. Thanks again
  10. http://www.memoimports.com/new_page_4.htm I have the same ones but don't know where to get the right bulbs. Hint Hint Mat ....... (so where'd ya get them from)
  11. For food, (god I wish I could have some) if you like Mexican. Go to the little stand on the side of the road across the street from the park (John Galvin is what the park used to be called) the place is called Juanita's II. It's on 4th and Grove. If you head west from Grove on 4th You'll see it on the right. get the meat and cheese burrito .... mmmmmmmm .... I grew up playing baseball in that park
  12. well crap, I basically decided that the torque converter was stealing the power. Now, next question............. Ok, off the line ...... running good While cruising at about 50mph, then stepping on it ..... I'm getting a gasp up at the carb before the motor really grabs. I've played with the timing, the carb, and the springs in the distributer and don't know what to do next............ where am I going wrong??
  13. Just a quick question. I changed the oil and filter at about 1 hour of the engine running. Then again at 300 mi. Then again at 600 mi. What would one expect to see in the filter at this point, or at any other point for that matter...??
  14. Well, I bet I'm up there at the top of the list. With the current timing/trans problems. I bet mine will do the 1/4 in about 15.30
  15. Yeah it's a factory GM cam. I didn't have a cam card or anything from the builder. The suggested timing I got from JEGS, basically a VERY similiar engine setup with one of their crate engines. So, in summary. Set the initial at about 15 And, limit the total on the vacuum advance to about say 32? Then re-adjust carb, and I should be closer. Correct?
  16. Yeah I've done the TV thing. It got a little better but sill not the best, just like you said. I think part of my problem with that is that the linkage hole for the TV on the carb is a little bigger than the end of the cable that slides into it. I need to find a bushing or something because it looks like the cable is just kinda dangling in there as opposed to having a nice tight fit. I mean, I'm not getting too bent out a shape because hopefully I won't have this Trans long, I'm still looking at going back to manual. I just don't feel right driving this car with an auto. Anybody got a spare T56 they wanna trade for a "race prepped" 700R4? Needless to say I still want to get things set up right for the time being.
