  2. Mike, if you want to go local, email my friend Steve at: sales@questperformance.com He is reputable and honest and can get you good prices on all the possible hose couplings you need. I've seen his work and his products and he's a stand up kinda guy. here's his website: http://www.questperformance.com He's also a major Z car guy =) Igor
  3. live and learn?? I thought it was something much more exotic!!! Thank you so much. I.D.
  4. I really need to know what this symbol means: http://www.robosys.com/lib_symb/el&elsym/el&elsym.htm If the left bottom corner is (0,0) and we're in the 1s quadrant, I'm talking about symbol (3,3) What is this guy called? What if there was no arrow through it?? thanks guys!!! I looked through all the 'common' symbols and did not find it anywhere, besides this website where I stumbled upon it by accident.
  5. A 260 does have a return line (at least mine does!) I THINK it'd be better if you used some kind of return, you don't want too much pressure building up before the SU's right??
  6. Anyone at all??? Where do you think I can find references to cross sections of rods so I can look this up?????
  7. I have no clue why they weren't showing up??? What is this EXACT cross section called?? thanks for any help with this..

    cross section

    what is it??????
  9. I am trying to make a grill for my Z and need more of these.. but.. what are "they" called???? (the specific bend type cross section) It is a common mass produced shape, correct? What type of machinery would be req'd to bend a straight rod like that to exact specifications? (And not crush or deform it) thanks for any help with this.. here's what Im talking about: http://www.freewebs.com/karma_poleez/000_0227.jpg http://www.freewebs.com/karma_poleez/000_0229.jpg EDIT: DON'T KNOW WHY THEY WERENT SHOWING UP BUT HERES THE URL EDIT2: copy and paste links, don't click on them..
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6187&item=4535171226&rd=1 Seems more and more people are trying to sell their p.o.s. useing other people's cars photos. Didn't this ZX belong to a member here??????
  11. you did one hell of a job!!!!!! VERY good info. Thanks for shareing it with us
  12. well, me and a friend changed out the t.bearing and the Z scoots around now. The clutch slips alot tho - there's not enough clamping force to hold the stock L28et's 'agression' But still, the car was a BLAST to drive for the first time. I'm gonna put a 2+2 flywheel/clutch/pressure plate, and yes, bearing (lol). Thanks for the help.....
  13. Use as much of the turbo wireing as you can. When all else fails use the old N/A stuff. (But try not to it will mess you up) It'd be better if you use all Turbo wireing to make engine run well first, then clean it up with your own splices, the correct lengths, etc. etc. Just my 2 cents worth of experience... =)
  14. Something you MIGHT want to consider is your setup vs megasquirt'd setup. There won't be MUCH difference in the prep time, install time, etc?? Right? I mean if someone is going to go with a Z31 (yes, retuned but still, Z31 ecu) why not opt for a little more work and get way more benefits from megasquirt or another true standalone with tuneable on the fly ecu? Also, I'd think the 'moronic' type of people will never WANT to put a better ECU in their setup. And the people putting Z31 ecu's are just on a bridge to an eventual true standalone anyway. A MUCH MUCH MUCH better idea would be to make partial or even complete megasquirt kits. ECU, stimulator, sensors THAT YOU KNOW WORK WELL IN OUR CARS, wireing from these sensors (LABELED), fuse block, maybe spark control, etc. etc. Just my opinion... By the way, thanks for your help on the other posts (long ago) about my turbo swap. It was very much appreciated and very helpfull.
  15. Jolane, I just got an email from a TA and he said the ABSOLUTE SAME THING you said. In short: size is 11x17, and it doesn't matter what orientation it is: just look at what you're drawing and pick the better one (landscape or portrait!) =) thanks everyone. HybridZ rocks.
  16. there is no teacher, its a distance learning class. ALMOST a complete waste! thanks for your help SHO-Z... that was all I needed to know. thanks again.
  17. my question is dumb dumb simple. so simple it hurts. =( What is "b" size? instructions say b size is "11x17" but DO NOT SPECIFY WHICH ONE IS THE WIDTH OR LENGTH?? Is it 11 wide or 17 wide???? thanks for ANY help with this guys.
  18. please help?! is "b" size 11 wide and 17 long or 17 wide and 11 long?? (inches) Takeing class without a real teacher SUCKS. The directions call for a 11x17 "b" sized sheet, which I assume to give the x coordinate first, followed by the y, therefore being 11 wide and 17 long. My drawings dont fit and look nothing like the stupid examples (which I measured with a ruler, and the examples are perfect squares!!!!!!) WTF? ..sigh... mechanical drafting is the SINGLE WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. no real teacher, absolutely worthless questions that have nothing to do with autocad OR drafting, haveing to literally MEMORIZE the menu structure of autocad, etc etc. grrrrrr sorry for this long rambling. Igor
  19. First off all - is it 'normal' for a healthy (but stock) L28ET to slip a used stock 260z clutch on 260z flywheel?? Could I just have adjusted the clearances on pedals wrong or free travel or something simple like that?? Sucker slips bad when I shift hard. Clutch disc has plenty of meat left and never slipped with the SU motor before the turbo swap. I am about to get a 2+2 ZX flywheel. It will be a good improvement (240mm) over the stock 220mm L26 flywheel. What do you guys recomend as the best clutch kit for a street car (no real raceing just street cruising.) My short term goal is about 220-230 hp with stock turbo untill I can get a wide o2 and a decent intercooler. Would I be OK with a stock (read: cheap) clutch kit for a 2+2 or turbo ZX? Or do you think it'd be better to invest in something more heavy duty right now? I don't want the car to shift super quick or be a race car, I just don't want the darn thing to slip.. Also, one of the threads in the tranny for the slave cylinder is stripped. The other hole is almost stripped. Feels very tight going in. I'm kinda afraid each time I put the slave cylinder on. How can I fix this?????? just re-thread to a bigger size? re-drill and weld a nut on there maybe? ? thanks for any advice guys.
  20. I have no harness (its a mess), but I am trying to connect gauges so they work.. You are saying just take the water temp. gauge and connect to water temp sender (it is on the water house going to heater core, right?) same thing for oil except change connectors from spade to bullet connectors? thanks for your time.
  21. can anyone give me a quick yes/no on this: Is the L28ET computer unique in the physical size plugs it has? For example, can I take the EFI wireing harness from say a 82 n/a and have it plug in a stock 82 turbo ecu? (talking about JUST the connectors) The reason I am asking is because I want to make L28ET plug in harnesses for 240/260/280z and want to find out as much info as I can about this. thanks.
  22. One of my classes for M.E. this semester is autocad and we gotta do a project: design and draw a useable part of a machine or a device. Basicly they want us to practice and create something usefull and innovative. Doesn't have to be fancy, but it has to be drawn correct and look real. Of course I want to do something for my Z! And of course build it after I draw it. Building is "not required" but haveing a completed project I can bring, along with all the drawings is AWESOME. what do you guy's think is better? a) a bolt on filter to the stock SU's, like the factory orange, but more streamlined and with access to fresh air. b)a slick front grill. mounts just like oem but looks way more modern. c)new wireing harness for L28ET--->S30. all wires colorcoded and labeled, all wires the correct length to fit perfect in a 240z 260z 280z conversion. All fresh connectors. I'm leaning towards C right now as I have done something a little similar in my own car and the possibility of building it is very real compared to the other parts. Also, if it works well (after I try it in my own 260z) it would be a good part to sell. That way you would't have to mess with 30 year old wireing, just plug this in and go. what do you guys think? Project is due in 1 month so I have lots of time. thanks for your opinion.
  23. Thank you. Release bearing = throwout bearing?????????????? (want to make sure)
  24. No guys... all this stuff is good. The tranny is from a 1979 280ZX tho, works fine. Spacer is off, tranny shifted just fine, it was my friend's and I've seen the car drive and raced it before... My z "drives" just very very very slow. There's no oil on anything, it's all clean in there. The fork with throwout bearing moves with no problem. Are the pressure plates different for 70-78 and 79-83???????? Thats the key question. My friend has been doing Zs for like 10 years or more and says this is the problem: you can't take a L26 clutch/flywheel/pressure plate and expect it to work with a ZX transmition. Just trying to verify this. Please let me know!! thanks =)
