  1. If your asking the question, I would say no. For "you" it does not seem to matter.
  2. Whatever you call it, your doing it right! Nice car man.
  3. I have a set of Weber DGV top drafts. PM me if you are interested.
  4. Before i pulled the head i would check easy stuff. Coolant in the oil, or oil in the coolant. You can check the spark plugs for contamination and do a compression check. Checked the videos out, don't think I've ever seen that much coolant pouring out the tail pipe.
  5. I think this. I don't know how it was, but there is so much info out there i feel lazy if i make a post just ask a question. I also think it is hard to do something new or original on a car that has had such a following for so long. Guess that's a kudos to those that came before me!
  6. Looking for twice pipes. Can be for factory or MSA headers. Located in Detroit.
  7. Thanks! @ Jay, I molded them out of 1/4in ABS. They are mounted with 3 bolts on the backside of the ABS that fit through the existing holes (the ones that attach the air dam) in the bodywork. My air dam was not exactly even so the covers are molded and mounted slightly different form each other. @ RB26, That's awesome. Did they say what material the covers are made out of?
  8. Painted: Sorry for the crap quality pics. I think i'm going to try to make them out of fiberglass next time to see if i can get a smoother shape.
  9. Made these from ABS plastic. Still need to fit them a little better and paint them. What do you guys think?
  10. For $800 i would just buy a decent welder and learn to do it my self. I've learned the hard way that I can usually do a better job than i can afford to pay someone to do for me. I bet you can a better job than this guy did if try and do it yourself.
  11. Your going to enjoy the car so much more now. The automatic i had was awful.
  12. Its funny with as may bumperless Zs out there nobody has mas-produced these.
  13. Yeah, i've been looking for these. No luck finding them. I have a feeling they would be expensive as hell to get from Star road. So i'm going to try and make some out of fiberglass. My idea was to use clay on the car to shape a piece then mold the fiberglass onto the clay. I was looking for a type of plastic that i could cut heat and mold to the correct shape but no luck. Let me know if you have any ideas. If i can make a good mold i might make more of them.
  14. Yup, I think it took me about an hour to swap the clutch and brake pedals. You don't have to remove the dash if you just want to swap the pedals and not the whole box. Just grab a flash light, push the seat back, and try and squeeze in there. Good luck!
  15. I would try to clean the radiator out by having it boiled and rodded out. Unless you know how long it has been since this service has been done, its pretty likely you would benefit from it. I had overheating problems and replaced one engine, two thermostats, rad hoses, rad cap, a belt and three head gaskets before i figured this out. It ran cool after the rad service. My rad was pretty much not flowing at all. Cost around $100.
  16. What type of clay would you use to make a fiberglass mold on the car? Thanks
  17. Just got a wire feed HF welder (the black one) as a xmas present. I don't have much experience welding but the mechanicals work fine. I don't get any bird nesting. Not many ways to adjust it. I get some burn through and tons of splatter, but i kinda suck at welding, so... If you have a big job ahead of you i would not recommend it, if you are just playing around with it for fun and wasting metal, it works.
  18. http://www.starroad.co.jp/home/ If anybody was looking for it
  19. Anyone know if the "bumper filler covers" the pieces below the headlights are a purchasable part? I'm surprised i don't see them on more bumperless Z's.
  20. Haha, I think the PO found a 240sx to haul logs with instead! It was actually pretty close to Green Bay. It was beautiful up there! I'll have to take a trip back when its not zero degrees out.
  21. I always wondered if the factory seats are even that safe by today standards?
  22. How do you know the battery is good?
  23. So after figuring that i would have to spent alot more money and time to get the 240z where i wanted her, i figured i would be better off looking for a car in better shape. I sold her for a little less than i put into her. I learned a ton about Z cars with the help of this forum. I also got a better idea of what is cost for fixing them up. I bought the Z on an impulse and i got a reality check shortly after. I was kind of sad to see her go, but i think the new owner had more time money and youthful energy than i have to give her... ...But this is not the end of my Datsun adventures! After a 14 hour snow covered trip to the Upper Peninsula i brought home a much cleaner 76 280z. She has 120,000mi, is pretty much rust free, nice paint, super clean interior and runs and drives great. I'm just going to be doing some of the basic maintenance stuff till after X-mas. Have already changed plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotors, fuel filter and lash adjust. Going to work on the brakes, and cleaning/replacing injectors next. So i guess I'm not a first time Z owner anymore, haha.
