BayAreaZT, What DVD player did you get, about how much was it? Let me know how you like it and if there really is a big difference in picture compared to regular 480p. Thanks. Oh, just watched LOST last night in HD, I still can't get over how friggin awesome the picture is!!!!!!

Just a note, I am borrowing an OTA HD tuner and this Sammy DLP friggin rocks! The super bowl was good but the other networks putting out 720p are amazing, PBS will never be the same

TTT No more suggestions?

Check the sticky's in the electrical section. painless is good for a novice but not the cheapest solution
-
It's not too bad and if you are a wiring 'tard' like me, it's A LOT more simple than the stock harness. Not the cheapest solution like Tim says, but atleast you will know what's going on when something isn't working.

I have a friend that was doing it several years ago, next time I see him I'll ask him if it was a fad or really helpful...

Wish I knew how to play that stuff...

New paint job with pics, something different
BillZ260 replied to clarkspeed's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Nice! But, white is not a color, it is the absence of...or inclustion of all...depending on who you talk to -
I like it, and you could put it outside, seeing that would probably be the ONLY place my wife would let me put it...

GOOD STUFF! Of course I will take as much input as you fella's can dish out. thanks!

Well, with my dad's passing last fall, I have to make the decision of what to do with his house/land. I think there is definatly some opportunity here but I need to be carefull. I'll give you some detail. The neighborhood is BAD, mostly old beat down rent houses near down town. BUT it is VERY close to downtown and just off of a major hwy through town. I would say 1/10th of the houses in the neighborhood have been demolished or removed so there is a lot of vacant lots. There are quite a few commercial lots sprinkles about and a main road in 1/2 block behind the house. The house is in BAD shape, so much so that it will cost more to get it up to snuff to sell than it could sell for, built in the teens/twenties it need ALOT of work. SO I need to get the house OFF the lot, I could try to sell it as is structure only, but my best bet is probably to donate it to our FD and let them torch it for training. (Not sure if they do that in town). Short of that it will cost $3-5K to get the lot cleared and graded and ready to build something on. I have considered selling the whole thing as is but it's not even worth $20K! SO on to my opportunity. The lot is zoned light industrial/residential! So I could build a decent shop on the site. I havn't recieved the plot back yet but I am figuring a 40' x 80-90' should be doable. I am thinking steel building with no windows but lots of skylights and a bay door on each side and a bathroom. I know of a guy that MIGHT want to rent out space for his wood shop business, so I am thinking if I COULD rent space out for my building payments then it would be a no brainer to build this shop. The rest of the space could be used for all the stuff currently not fitting in my garage at home. I figure I can get it all done for about $20K and if all fell through, then I could just sell it as a commercial proporty for some profit. This is the house I grew up in and I want to do something good with it, and I am realistic about it's condition. I have never had this much available capital to me and I want to make sure I invest it wisely. There are some efforts to make the down town area cleaner / better so I figgure that at the very least the proporty could just sit and gain value eventually, probalby 15+ yrs. Taxes are CHEAP right now, so we could just sit on it. And I share ownership with my little bro and sis. They are both ok with the shop idea. I have a good steady job as does my wife and we are doing just fine money wise. But this could be a break into somthing bigger for me. My thinking is that with more room = more tools and a space that woud be mine to create. I would really LOVE to build stuff for a living but I don't have the space to play at home really. This is what is really driving the shop idea. So I am just looking for some consensus, concerns, objections, yea nea's or simple some other view points. I know this board has a vast variety of experiecne, just wanting to tap in to it abit. ......and i am looking for a career where i don't have to spell...

Blank Billet Wheels
BillZ260 replied to EvilRufusKay's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
That would make sence to me, like you say, due to all the cusome wheel mfg going on. BUT...If there isn't that could be good start up idea! -
LOTS of mouse work, little typing. Fancy contraptions to put things where they are supposed to be helps some but by the end of the day, I am pretty uncomfortable. I can then go home and work out and work in the garage and get full feeling back, stretches and exercises help some but I fear the worst will come soon enough.

WOW, it's amazing how much information can be amassed in 5 years. Just imagine if everyone could contribute as much enthusiasm and help towards eachother, think of where we could be. Thanks guys.

I have this issue while I am at work only, garage activities seem to help actually. I am hoping that I can get out of this office job before I end up where you are...

Painless harness to Z column harness (headlight combo switch
BillZ260 replied to georgiaz's topic in Ignition & Electrical
I'll see what I can do. Right now i am working on finishing up the den and getting ready for my first ever hosted super bowl party, it will be in HD and i still have to put up my antenna and stuff. If you don't hear from me in a while PM me for a reminder, it seems that email is the only way to get me to get stuff done -
IF you have the time and enjoy working on a project, like most here, buy the project. If NOT, then find one finished or almost finished and drive it. You are going to be miserable if you have a heap sitting in the garage and have NO drive or desire to mess with it. Car looks very cool, depending on the situation, I may go for the same trade. I would check out alot of the structure. Check the welds, for rust and stuff like that jic you need to replace things. If only 300 were made, then you will probably either make the replacments yourself or pay someone else to. Just stuff to think about. Enjoy it and keep us posted...

Uuuuuh, tell me about it. The stock harness made so little sence to me. It took me about 8 hours of sitting in the doorway of the z with a tester figureing out what each wire did and where to hook it up to the harness, and that was with diagrams! But on the bright side, you don't have to. This is pretty much my only contribution to the site after 3 years, and I am glad to see guy's getting use out of it.

Painless harness to Z column harness (headlight combo switch
BillZ260 replied to georgiaz's topic in Ignition & Electrical
I had 5 wires going to my ignition switch, Don't remember which painless ones it was specifically, but I remember that two of the poles, i think, were the same output and I put a wire on each. Hope that helps some. If you need I can dig up my notes again and see what Iv'e got written down. -
MrBONK, there is a thread, several in fact that contain a "MAP" from painless kit to combo switch. I posted it once and it was a sticky but my last request to get it 'stuck' must have gotten missed. Anyways, you can search for my posts or scroll down the wiring post and you will find some decent info. EDIT: actually I just looked, this is the FIRST thread on the wiring forum. Read it and you will get your answers. I don't think you need to use the ground on the switch. The reason for this is because the Z harness, used a different "METHOD" of grounding everything than the Painless kit does. The ground is at the 'accessory' instead on on the switch, the switches just supply power or a signal to supply power.
