  1. sounds good to me, i dont care about cutting up fender wells, its all in the name of performance, and getting the pizza cutters out of my life, i think i may go pretty big with the flares, i want some ridiculously wide tires that make the front 15x7's look like honda spare tires... i wish.. man that guys car in the photos looks hard...
  2. has anyone went vette IRS, i was talking it over with my colleagues and thought that it would work out pretty good with tons of gear ratios and posi, and would seem like a little bit simpler than going ford 9 inch. any advice is great. Leonard
  3. hey now, im not sayin that the rb26 is weak at all, at one point i was about to sell my v8z, buy a nice 240z, and slap some boost on a six, and valves or great, so are twin cams, cant knock that at all, but my pockets started crying when i started comparing my dollar to horspower numbers. sure injection is great, my next move is a lt1/t56, but why do you want to have a motor from a car that requires a international call for a distributor? havent seen wangan midnite yet, really want to, i think a lot of like our trendy carbed v8 cars because dollar for horspower is there for us for peanuts knowing that autozone got my back. i really hope skyline parts would be more abundant myself, or that the car itself would finally come through, more boost in general is a good thing. sure you can get 600hp out the rb26dett, but you can get teh same amount with Torque of the gods with a v8 built boostin. why not, all motor they can do it, a single carbed sbc blower can come to 450hp real nice. thats 1000 in jegs.
  4. hey guys, in accordance to that last thread i checked out the fiberglass stuff over at classic datsun, and saw those great flares, i was wondering if they really let you run wider tires, i was interested in getting some 15x8-10's and like how those look, not too big not too small you know what i mean, i also like how they look real racey, like mean, like"man i need bigger tires, lets cut em up and bolt these flares on" do they really let you run the wide meats or are they for show??? thanx for any help Leonard "i wont do it unless it makes rubber"
  5. hey davy and i were pondering this to each other the other night, those with the t-5 on a sbc, how does the slave engage, push or pull, and what size mc did you use to make it work?? hopefully if it is the same as the type i use to operate my buddy muncie, ill go world class and put a whole new world of hurting on import racing!
  6. ive driven 240s-260's and 280s really hard with all kinds of suspension and motor modifications, and my lowly scarab converted z handles just like them ON THE STREET, if youre going all race, you would have to go jtr for the added weight balance it gives. i really dont notice the handling difference from stock to my setup, except ill knock straight six boots from here to albequerque. in a straight line, get outta town, but after me! now ive had too much coffee... if you want to change it out you can, but try your best to destroy your motor while maintaining good servicing on the car, i wont change it until its justified, if its not broken.....
  7. whats wrong with a turbo sbc??? you really want to mess with an exotic swap with a motor you have to talk to people overseas about for the firing order, a big thumbs up to people that have done it, its bad ass motor and turbo, but man think of the long run here, what if and what if you know what im sayin??? the supra has a straight six too now doesnt it????? 300zx tt as well...im just into having a racer that i can get parts for at kragen and dont mean to diss anyones ideas or discourage anyone from going for their dreams, as i am, but im down with a discount and import racing isnt...
  8. hey davey, maybe this is crazy thought, but maybe you could swap rearends from the q45, to your future Z, and put an r200 in the q45???? i was having a little trouble with my diff, found that the solid diff mount and some new hardened driveshaft bolts cured it!!! im running at most about 275hp and 300-25 tq and once anything is slightly out of wack in the r200 area it gets shaky, combine that with slicks, holeshots, and lots of racing and i think its a recipe for disaster, even though the r200 is very strong. i would say, break it first, then swap it out. i think its fine for a daily car that can run high 13s-low 14's, anything greater than that, watch out!!!!
  9. hey guys, does anyone know of or have panasports chromed???? im a little interested in this, everyone has panas, but nobody ive seen has had them chromed, i used to hate chrome, but i think that they would add to all the chrome trim on the zcar, and would a bling bling to it...

  13. hey i love the heck out of my z, but i have two problems with it, my interior(or lack thereof) and the one taht i really cant stand one legger in the turns! ill hit a right turn and the inside tire spins, which is pretty dang fun in itself, but i want posi!!! i really dont want to buy a torsen or quaife because they cost grips, and the 3.70 lsd is too low for my four speed self. i know that you can weld up the spider gears, and i want to know if its good or bad or whatever, i want two legger turns dangit!!!!!!!
  14. davy, i really cant wait until you get to that swap!!! i run a 280zx sway bar in the front and a 7/8 aftermarket on the rear, and i have never driven a z without both, exiting turns the only trouble i really have is that dang inside wheel slowing me down in the rights!!! do it right davy with the sway bars and the POSI!
  15. i always thought that you could just tell them apart by looking at them, a rat is just physically so BIG!!!! not necessary to be real fast in a z and retain some cornering though.. unless its 502 ram jet with nitrous in a 1990-96 300zx!!!!! if i were building an big domestic ie. ss nova, ss impala, vette, maro, chevy etc etc., i would go the biggity biggest block i could, but that is not the case with my aluminum can with a v8....
  16. take it from me, an r200 can be your best friend, ive blown an r200 with about 325 or so lbs. those r18os?????? but if its running cool, hey. but keeping aside a little r200 with the welded spider gears can be nice too
  17. hey i just got the xstream air cleaner about a week ago, made a little bit of a difference, i can really hear the air getting sucked into the carb ALOT more, but i want to make some type of air ram system to see if i cant get some more......

  19. somebody do a rat powered z please anyone check out those ram jet 454's and 502's merlin crate motor??? 540bbc with a blower? wild cam? youd be a bad bad man.t56 that bad boy and youre the man!!!!!! anyone out there done a hemi swap??? that would be really nice.
  20. thats really odd. i would say maybe its the tranny gearing??? i have the same rear end 3.36 and a muncie 4spd, and leave big hairy nasty bacon strips in 1-2-3 fashion, not often, but when i light tires, i light tires....
  21. im planning to go lt-1 /t56 in about 3-6 months, just debugged my current 327/m22 setup and i really like it right now, but i can see overdrive taking me places and the lt-1/t56 can be got for a somewhat ok price how much horsepower/tq do you think a relatively stock lt-1 motor with: a mild cam msd exhaust and headers modified air intake roller rockers im shooting for about 300 to the wheels, no less and hopefully a little more and lots of reliability here, and a car that will act both the part of hotrod and commuter. and i want to stare at the injection manifold for several hours each day! thanks for any help you can kick down to me, and one of these days what do you know, FAIRLADY LT-1?
  22. that ls1 swap is nice, real nice, my boy has an ss maro with that drivetrain and that thing runs hard!!!!!! good gas and not loud with the stock exhaust, really quiet, even when its storming through the power band, its cool, and with that t56 ive taken that car to 145mph doing about 3700 in 6th dying to go faster having a conversation casually its so smooth. what we really need is more big blockas!!!!!!!!!! someone step up to bat with a ramjet 502/t56 with nitrous and forced induction 4.11s please!!!!!! ls1 is hard, mr. lone star can we see you smoke the block up please?????? a second gear scratch would even be nice

  24. personally, i dont like the wheel locks that are "innies" the kind where you have the key part that goes into the lock versus the socket type. my experience is that those kind get worn over time, which leads to frustation and anger when youre stuck on the side of the road trying to put the spare happen. i really dont know how secure you can be with any wheel lock, if people really want your tires they will do a lot worse than use an impact socket to get them. the ones that i have are the socket type, and the lugnuts that came with them are "hollow" meaning it takes another little socket adapter to take those off, it is kind of like having wheel locks on all four lugs, i dont know how far ill trust any wheel lock, but i least i know ive done all i can, just my opinions.
