im looking for a muffler that looks like those 5zigen racing fireball mufflers, the ones that mount diagonally as opposed to straight out the back? maybe 3.5-4.5 inch outlet with dual 2.5-3 inch inlets,or maybe run two of them diagonally to the left out of the stock outlet, hardcore import racing

yeah if that 240z dont work out for some reason, pickup the 260 by all means, youll get a great frame to start your conversion, and help another conversion start... -
that sounds really good, how about some summit v8z love, i know enough of us have spilled hundreds of thousands of dollars there together, how about some sponsorship here????

ive got the mr. gasket locking hood pins, i think lonehdrider has the same kind, i saw a picture of them on his site and his thread about the inspection lid mods he did, hey mr. lonehdrider, are you there, i was wondering if you did the same thing i read on a past thread, where you put the retaining bits in place of the rubber hood stops towards where the hood rests?????? do you have a recipe for them? im emailing you right now...

Swapping B16a2 civic Si motor into the 240z
fl327 replied to auxilary's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
welcome aboard i think most of us use a hydralic line to run the clutches in our cars, most likely because the z is set up for a hydralic system and its not that hard to get the chevy or ford trannies to work with some mods. your budget and preferences dictates what setup to run. i reallyl like my 327, when i bought the car it had one in it and im not mad maybe ill throw an h22a in there and really rip it! if you want bezerk horsepower and torque, thats your discretion, if you want a balance of the two, also your choice, the jtr book will only provide the guidelines, i dont think any two swaps from any two members of this board are exactly the same, at some point the man behind the machine added his own personal touch to the transformation. hope this helps and good luck Leonard -
5.0 ho motors from 86-92 made 225hp and 300lbs flat, stock rollerized, revs up like a madman... the iroc 350's had about 235-240 hp and a lot more torque, like 350lbs or so, the newer generation lt-1 camaro and firebirds had around 300hp. advantages to the 5.0 motor is that it is narrower and lighter than your average chevy small block....

hey my hood latch system just called it quits on me, the cable wont pull the latch open, and ive been having problems since ive first bought this car, and i want to switch to locking hoodpins, just got the hoodpins in the mail today, and im wondering how do you hoook them up, since they were designed for hoods that open the other way???? has anyone made a bracket for them to work??? thanx yall Len

New v-8 z-er. need help on headers, traction, & other
fl327 replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
i like old school too, i love the idea of a z with dual quads and a blower sticking out the hood, nothing like pure muscle!!!! but i do love me some efi, my next motor will probably be an lt-1 with a tremec t-5 or a t-56 with a little go-fast, not a whole lot of go-fast, but a daily driver with some muscles. but yes, there is nothing like a big gnarly v8 powered car that rumbles and has that machismo. its one of my joys in life. -
Low cost, fairly light wheels....
fl327 replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
yeah i saw that, doesnt turbo magazine feature something in every issue that shows the top import rims and how much they weigh??? i would look harder but i want four lugs and fifteens, i have gone through three sets of rears this year and two sets six months of last defending the import racing crown.... -
go jtr all the way, and im not just saying that because JTR IS FROM THE BAY AREA or anything like that, its just the best as far as engine placement goes, he has this line that reads: it only makes sense that this motor be put in the best position since you are putting the motor in for performance, put it in so you get the most performance out of it. the owner of my car before me did the hooker conversion, and very caveman like might i add, im still working out the bugs in his conversion to this day! everyone here with a setback motor did it jtr method-its a really good method imho. yes, i know right now im running the scarab-which is not bad for driving around and stuff, but i know that i will handle differently at the limit and weight transfer for drag racing is off, i do plan on doing a jtr conversion when i get enough money and time to get a lt-1 or other type of efi 350 and a t-5/6, its only right. if you have the choice now like it seems you do, go JTR!!!!!!!!

yeah i think you got a pretty good deal for it, clean title right? ive seen them go in the paper for 20k and mroe, and a buddy of mine sold one with a theft/salvaged title with a rebuilt pumped up drivetrain for 14k! rejoice man you came up.

you can try ls1motorsports.com, they make a boost kit for new maros, and might have one that will work with tpi as well.

New v-8 z-er. need help on headers, traction, & other
fl327 replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
are you really sure you want to drive something that powerful everyday and everywhere?? something that beastly is bound to be big maintainance if you daily drive it, but hey, if youre ready and thats the way you gotta do it, do it man, and give me some rubber. -
anything can be done, it would be a PITA to do that AWD conversion though, you would have a lot of clearance issues, your diffs would be really low to the ground, but if you did it, i would beg you to take me for some donuts and second gear scratch left turns!

i like it too, its a straight six with dohc and its domestic, meaning that parts will be available for it, 260hp and lots of torque stock? and all aluminum with high rev potential, im really interested in seeing what comes of this motor, and if they put it out there as a crate, and see if anyone has boost on their mind like I

how much is piece of mind worth

ok, since youve picked the right drivetrain ill help you, just kidding welcome aboard. im not sure how the clearance for power steering will interfere with the swap, youd probably want closer to manual steering with the power youll have, i think youll still have rack and pinion, which is ok, only difficulties is parallel parking, still not that bad. ok this is my first post on this board. From what i've read on this board so far, the zx small block conversion is not easy, but it is possible with the proper amount of planning. I know the manual is geared toward early z's, so here are a few questions which i think pertain to zx only: -digital dash. Has anyone attempted this? Did everything still work? (speedo, tach, fuel, temp, etc..)(ooooh, cant answer that one) -power rack n pinion. Does this provide an insurmountable obstacle? If so, how hard is it to convert to (eek!) manual steering? should be easy to convert, all you have to do is disengage the power steering pump, which would take a lot of fab to work with the v8 in there. -T-tops. These have to take something (however small) away from the structural stability. Will front and rear strut braces be enough to compensate? Will i need a roll bar/cage? (yeah, assuming no rust, the zx are built a little tougher than earlier) (roll cages are nice too, depending on how you are gonna drive it, would be nice!) -Transmission. I absolutely positively want a manual. Probably five speed. What's the best choice for zx?( its not for a zx, its for a 327!) Can i just snake one out of a camaro at a junkyard? ( the maro five speeds that came behind the 305 wont take a whole lot of abuse, it rated at 300lbs)you could go with a tremec t550) or find yourself a t56-speed, which is really nice, and can be hand for a lofty price or not so lofty depending on your hustle skills, but worth it cause its tough and has a double overdrive) Or do i need a specific model? Do the mounts from the msa kit work on manual trannies?( not sure, i think jtr makes a t56 mount) Oh and what about the hydraulic clutch?( yes it does, the t56 may want to go hydro throwout bearing) does it work with gm trannies?( tilton 1" with stock datsun slave has me bangin muncie till the cows come home) not sure about t-5 hope this helps That's about it. Sorry for the flood of questions; i hope you haven't heard them a million times before. I appreciate any input thanks.

from what ive heard, the cross flow and the 4valve heads made abotu 20% improvement, and they rev a little higher, high end mostly i think. i dont think it had that much guts off the line, but gears could change that up a little too. it probably isnt worth the money to grab one of those heads, but it would be nice turbo l28, cheapest and it makes good power

i had the same problem, my drain bolt had a severly worn washer, and was leaking around the threads, did you check that yet, hope its that easy for you!!! hey what kind of lube do you usually throw in there, its about that time!

Will my CAR be slow Please Advise?

youll RUN that mustang. just had a street battle with one two nights ago. 1990 five-oh with e-303 cam, msd ignition, duals, headers, ported, aftermarket manifold and 24lb injectors! launching from idle i hung even, second started lurching, third and I WAS GONE! he was a friend of a friend and we ended up having a hoods up conversation with each other.. that fiver kills GT4.6 mustangs and prides himself on that, imagine what you will do to one! -
you can put any v8, chevy, ford, mopar yeah in that car, its already got the suspension to handle it, i dont even think the front would weigh that much more so you might be able to get away with leaving it stock suspension, big block small block any block get the picture
-
shocks, and springs, yes. same problem here, i had 280zx springs in the front and they were so shot that when i had shift hard the front end would wobble up and down a little changed em out, and its all gravy!!!!!! spring rates are gonna be a little off with the v8 up front, i would say go with the tokikos and any some kind of racing springs would stiffen that bad boy up great, do you have any photos of that lt1-t56???
-
oh, well if its like that, do it man do it, i forget that it is different country to country. over here the v8's are the best bang for your buck in town. if i were where you were at, i might go the same route, maybe a land rover 8? go for it man, go for it, and please show us!
