SDS Basic 6 cyl for me?

yes it will, you gotta use the NA distributor with either vacum advance locked out, or a msd boost retard box or something to keep it from advancingyou into the world of ping.
  2. on a stock sized radiator? I did some work for a guy a while back in exchange for a set of puller 12" flexa lite fans, the thin kind with the gasket around them, they look sweet! im wondering if i have enough room to mount them, it looks as if they will bearly fit, and maybe have to shave part of the radiator off in two spots (not anything by the endtanks or fins) wondering if this is a drop in or not. thanx.
  3. the stock fuel tank will work, but you have to keep at least 3/8 of a tank at all times.

    Dumb question

yeah, be prepared to spend about 400.00
  5. defintely the MOST satisfying parts of the project for me was adding an audible bov, has to be.
  6. you gotta love a bov, even if your car goes nowhere!!
  7. i could go for a nice hybridz head band.
  8. i think the imsa flares are the only kind that will make a whale tale work, it brings it all in proportion, they are 15" wide on either side, its gonna cost bucks to get the shoes to fill those pants.
  9. they usually dont work with the 8bit analog efi of the stock setup. have you looked into additional injector controllers, sds has one thats setup for two additional 40lb injectors to be mounted in intercooler piping and its really simple. people have sucessfully ran the 370cc merkur injectors, but then it seems that its pretty inconsistent how they run, on some setups they run good, and on some pig rich, dont know why so different. but the piggypack setup has come up a couple times, and i havent heard of anyone pulling it off on the l28et ecu.
  10. the hats are mesh cap and nylon right?
  11. ive heard mixed reviews about the cfdf, but way too many no's from the turbo set, is there a certain ACT clutch to look after, and hows the clutch feel, mine is really soft right now which is ok, but i am that guy that does like a heavy clutch, as long as thats how it engage under lots of load.
  12. thats one thing i like more about zdriver than this site, its the rides section, the only thing we have like that is like four people and a couple of them dont even work with the z anymore. i would like to see something like zdriver's rides sections, except for the year breakdown we could have conversions, just like we have the forums for different and daring drivetrain combinations, you know, sbc, sbf, sbm, L6, other engines, kit cars based on z frame,,, all the rides in the featured section are very nice, but I feel that we need something like that where different cars of each different grouping of drivetrain is represented. i hope i make sense, im cramming master thesees in between posts here.
  13. cost a lot. joe picked this one non-running and looking like dung for 2000.00, and that was a steal, a legit gt500- you can almost name your price. when he's done, he could get 25-30k for it. now i know whats coming up at the next meet--gee Len, how come your car doesnt look that good?, because im not gonna see anywhere near what the time and investment would be, so im taking it really slow on the body work side of things, once im done with mechanical and stuff of the sort i will pretty her up, since body and paint is dang near free on our side, its just materials mostly but hey-shoot im slow on the mechanical side of things, but best believe when its time-my car gonna look GOOD and drive BETTER. later ill post photos of what joes car looked like last year....whoa anyways we will paint your car cheaper and better than just about anyone, anyone wants to take us up on that just write. ONE THING: we cant beat the duke in terms of price, so if thats what you are looking for-GO SEE HIM next car ill post here is YOUNGZ's 1970 datsun hybrid truck packing a 350/th350/ford9 -yes davyz-we got it!!!
  14. a little more fiberglass trimming and a paint job and its ready for battle. all primer, body work, and mechancial and electrical is the product of US! this friday we are going to see if we can make it across town with no windshield to get the exhaust hung! http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/sevenduececlassic/lst?.dir=/joes+gt500&.view=t
  15. im officially fully dropping out of the night race scene, its way too hot, and my car run way to nice for city tow to take and rape my auto.
  16. i know you run that car pretty hard too, w/o ic and four gallons of 110 i got it up to 12psi and near 15 on the highway with no issues, but you know im in boost for max fourteen seconds at a time, how hot does that car get when you run it that long???
  17. 2500.00 is new without tires, lugnuts, valve stems, and INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING.
  18. just wondering if there was a science to figuring to say, how much 110 mixed with 91 makes 104, or how much 104 with 91 makes 100 and stuff like that, and if its just the simple math it looks like, Im gonna slap myself ever since my first brush in with the race gas, i like it, I know a lot of people take pride in saying they make tons of power on pump, I dont. Im also wondering if there is a calculation on max hp a 26lb injector can make on race fuel???? yes im ghetto. thanx guys.
  19. three people i know got their cars took in the TRACY street races, another guy i know took the cops for a high speed and got away some how in his Del Sol (pronounced damn slow) but crashed somewhere in the beginning and lost his front bumper, before that he got his ex-girlfriends RSX took for street racing, and ran the police because he was driving without a liscense, and street racing still (theres no excuse for being that stupid) and his girl friend- a friend of mine, helped him finance the stupid car because his credit was shot!!!! I wont go to the tracy or the sacramento races because they are too far i dont want to get my car took EVER, and i dont want to break down out there, or in the ghetto. the races at candlestick get raided once a month or so, they block it off really fast and start punching out the tickets, if youre on the sidelines you get either a warning or a ticket, and ive heard they do a hood pop spontaneously if you give them any lip. I went this one time and i believe that will be it from me, i like having this car way too much to lose it like a dummy. I am not against giving it a quick romp on the street though, just not as often as my former Life... next racing will be for timeslips, or for coffee.
  20. one of the reasons i went to the turbo platform is because that is basically whats very popular these days, small displacement engines with turbos strapped to them. but to my dismay-i didnt build a honda so i still get frowned on by the import market, except the ae86ers,who are down. face it-YOU MUST WORK ON POS CARS , GOTTA EAT THATS THE BOTTOM LINE. at least until you get established and start doing more work for people serious about performance-but then a lot of those peopel do their own work too. i would love to be bolting on turbos, tuning efi, and making power in general-but nowadays a majority of the business coming in is pure rocketry. you gotta work on a lot of HONDAS, most of the kids who we know are into them. but those fubar jobs are what keeps me and the other youngsters who cant do extreme body work fed and smoking right? we get the lowering jobs, the headers, the intakes, fprs, basically-CRAP that we are amazed some people cant do themselves. The v8 guys all do their own work for the most part and dont come in for mechanical-they come for body work, and if we did extensive engine work we would get some business for that as well, but we dont do that much besides cam and heads over here, and the import guys come for bolt ons, and they bring the parts with them. if we didnt do a lot of body work, we would be hungry and sober, and that would be a sad sight indeed. This is just my point of view, from your background I am pretty sure you would have some good business setup from the start and hopefully that could propel you into bigger and better things, our thing over here is we make your car faster than the next man for less in no time flat, and have your car painted in no time better than most shops out there, and lightspeed times faster. Im just a part timer and work more for the knowledge and the fun of it hangin with some of my best friends learning from a guy we think is the smartest independent business man we have ever known. just my thoughts.
  21. smoothline makes fiberglass hoods, fenders, and headlight buckets, they even make the lower valance in fiberglass if youre that hardcore. fenders are about ten bolts to take off, two or three hidden under that one piece by the windshield. detach teh lower valance/airdam and pull them off with the headlight buckets, very easy car to take apart.
  22. so fast, so furious. im into it, but for my tastes its screaming hardcore, im into running hardcore, not looking it, but man if i had a permanent garage i would do someting like that, but with the flush fenders!
  23. i keep looking around for sites that talk about trucks, but none of them specialize in swapping out parts except for sbcs and 4x4 applications, im looking for one that deals with the simpler mods to my my dad and I's 87 2wd p/u. i just have simple things in mind until i get my z up to the phase where the only things left will cost billions of dollars, then i will have to wait, then in the meantime i want to show this truck the love he deserves, sites that would show me how to do this would be great: five speed swap, which trucks have lsd, preferable years, simple stuff, i guess, but being lazy and so used to the Z sites which are so informative, im just spoiled i guess. truck has a great running 2bbl 22r, which wont be getting mods or a v8 until theres a reason.
