    my mom used to drive a baby blue pinto when i was a little kid, people used to point at us and laugh. i remember when it used to park outside once they didnt drive it anymore, when people would come over and stuff they would ask if it was out car, and I would say no.
  2. some peoples t5's live forever with constant abuse and others just fall apart, its confusing, i know at least one 350-375hp paxton sc 5.0 that constantly bangs gears with dr's and it doesnt break, and its the original 128k trans. but then my buddy with 140k pretty much stock is on his third trans in 50k of pretty much the same abuse. maybe its the gearing, the sc 5.0 has 3.90 and the stockish one has 3.08s thats one advantage the t10-m20-22 trans has over the t5, overdrive is great-but i only broke my first m21 that had lived its first life in a 396 chevelle that got beat the f up after god knows how many clutch dumps, clutchless shifts, wot shifts, speed shifts and similar doggin over a six month period where i made a vow to burn rubber first thing when the car warmed up, the second trans, a wide ratio m21 with that super long first gear, i did stop burning rubber for breakfast, but by the time i put that trans in, i upgraded to a four puck clutch and heim joint shift linkage, i street raced the four speed setups more than 50 times each, and went took 15 hard runs at the track with some resemblance of hook for the last five runs- and it never even sprang a leak. if iwere doing another v8z and going stick and didnt have t56 money, i would go four speed in a minute or less, my favorite tranny, cause it likes the pain, and brings the pain! and their light too! thats just me, and i know im weird.

  4. pretty dang reliable, dont think anything commonly breaks down, unless you really really beat on it and dont take care of your car or dont do the proper steps to making more power. i keep 5 spare 300zx ignition transistors- i had one go out on me, i converted to 300zx ones from jy and never got around to putting the other ones away. and about twenty spare green and black nissan relays-when i go to the yard i take everyone in sight. i also clean all my connectors down to the injectors everytime i wash my car, which is at least once a week, after I found out that what i thought was a miss when cold was really dirty ecu connection/bad efi ground combo, i havent had anything but regular maintenance and simple power mods so far, and he has been berry berry good to me, im gonna treat him to an intercooler berry soon. one alternator and one battery, but thats just because i left it to sit for a month with the battery cables attached, alternator may still have been good-but i replaced both as a unit cause im paranoid. i replaced water pump when i did the swap-its only right, plus at shop cost its like 18.00, had to. starters dont go out a lot on nissans- they really dont get very hot since the exhaust and intake is on the other side, classic Zcar problem though, the intermittant response from either solenoid or the starter relay connection to it or the pin side on the switch. its a blast.

    http://club4ag.com/frame.htm they make group buys on these hayashi wheels that look like the kind DATTO posted, if you check the auction section, they sometimes have wats and other j spec rims-but its a whole different market on that site and people are willing to spend a lot more money on stuff they want there.

    afm guts from na need to be swapped into turbo afm housing, not really noticed or needed on a stock na motor. i believe zxt cam is milder than a stock na cam, and performance would actually go down.

  8. loud BOV is good, stalling because it vents at idle is bad, thats why i went with the HKS SSQV, it costs a bit more, but does not vent at idle because of the pull type mechanism and the adjustment screw lets you tighten it to the extreme, so that when it vents between shifts its for the shortest amount of time possible. on the vg30det ecu you can get away with one that vents a little by messing with idle, the L28et ecu is less tolerant of it.
  9. dont do it, t3/t04e set up right on the same motor will spank that sucker, unless you plan on running both of them...
  10. i dont think its the weight (or absence of) thats causing that vibration, did you remember to put the driveshaft back in the exact same way it was taken out?? ive found that to cause vibration, first thing i did when i went for diff work was toss the weights, but i did remember to mark the alignment of bolts on pinion flange, and number the bolts clockwise.

    88 viscous- halfshafts dont bolt up.

  14. how built is your motor? what management are you running? how big of an injector can it handle? how big your intercooler? what are you boosting right now?
  15. with the 3.54 and my rotten 215/60s, i cant hook for nothing in first, even from a roll, god i love it.
  16. it looks like the rear of the opel gt, and a pantera front end to me. i like the z because it just has that bad ass look to it, and ive become very familiar with the platform and i like how they ride. that car is cool looking, will it do a doughnut?
  17. all the trans mount is in either kit is a long slab of steel that bolts to the floors i believe, and the trans mount for almost all gm cars is the same pn, i think all you would have to do to make it work with any gm trans is move it back or forwards.
  18. hey i had to pick this one up, a smogged and registered 1983 maxima with a japanese L28 f54/p90 with a five speed!!! it even has the jdm valve cover man! does anyone know what the specs were on these imported motors, ive heard that have flatop pistons in them. can someone verify? thanx.
  19. man i wish we even had half those styling features i like the 280zx two seater more than i used to, but man the right set of rims and a nice kit sure transforms the look of that car. hoshino g5.
  20. wondering if anyone has dynoed their car before and after swapping out downpipes from factory 90 degree dumper to something like scotties dual 45 degree bent downpipes, which i can already tell from design must work pretty dang good? im looking at getting a downpipe made and wondering, im also talking to a guy right now about fabbing a couple for me at once, different though, at the end it will expand to couple to a 3" flange, and incorporate a flexible (i dont know what they are called) shortly after the first 90 degree bend. most likely wont be ss though, and two o2 bungs.

  22. i heard that you cant do a doughnut with the phantom grip. is this true? ive also heard it doesnt act like an lsd in solid state cornering as well?
