  1. Try a junk yard? I may have some in a few days.
  2. Thanks for reminding me to pay the last 50$ on my "tab" with the City of Fort Worth.
  3. Has anybody ordered from http://www.importdrivetrain.com/ before? They have this kit - http://www.importdrivetrain.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=17122 Seems like a good price. Any thoughts?
  4. Black and black. I want the block to stand out a bit. I think it's black currently, but I haven't cleaned it, so there may be some blue under there.
  5. Got any pics Derek? Would love to know more.
  6. Looks great! Now replace those ball joints!
  7. The 06 Mustang is rated at what, 300hp at the crank? I believe that's near what a well-built stroker is running. Your best bet for getting a good deal of horsepower without spending a hefty sum on a stroker is probably the turbo route.
  8. I haven't been able to find specifically what color the original "Nissan Blue" is. I was thinking that "Chrysler Blue 69-83" would be similar. I think I want to use the Por-15 engine enamel, and they seem to only have domestic colors available. Any opinions?
  9. I'm still sort of confused as to what you're really experiencing. Seems like it'd be a good idea to take the timing cover off to make sure you've got everything honky dory.
  10. Somewhat unrelated, But I know that when I jack the front of my car up, opening the hood is not an easy task due to flexing in the body.
  11. Oh really? Interesting. I'll have to check with the local datsun yards to see if they have one. Thanks for the tip!
  12. I've owned five of these cars over the last 6 years. It's tough sometimes. In the past, I over-shot my budget, or my abilities. This time I'm trying to do it right. The most frustrating thing for me is catching hell all day from the guys at work who only enjoy something with a bow-tie or an oval on the front of it. Oh, and not being able to get one single exhaust stud out of the head of my latest motor on a Sunday afternoon in March. I just gotta keep remembering that it's a *thing*. Along the same lines as what Jason said.
  13. Started tearing down the motor out of boredom today. Was going to just change my bike's oil, but ended up with this. Sorry for the finger in the picture. Oh and I promise to bring my real camera with me next weekend. I have one stubborn exhaust stud that won't come out, but I'll get it eventually. The head on my car is super clean, it amazes me. Even the exhaust ports had very little carbon buildup. More to come.
  14. I guess that's a possibility. It's just in a highly unfortunate place for a cleanliness standpoint.
  15. Just a little update for yall. Got my motor pulled today. Took me about 3 hours. Only lost one socket, and I think I know where it is. Was planning on leaving the tranny in the car, but ended up pulling it with the motor - Oh well, less work later. Good times! More to come next weekend.
  16. That's what I was thinking. Anybody running something similar? I guess a lot of people just ditch the power steering.
  17. Hmmm.. I found this. http://www.driveev.com/jeepev/convpgs/psteer.php May be worth a try.
  18. I've got the reciprocating ball steering setup. I'm pretty spoiled by it. I'd like to retain it, but the power steering pump needs to go. It's just not entirely pretty. Has anybody mounted their's elsewhere? I was thinking that the lower driver's side of the motor might work, but I can't remember how much room is down there. There could be some sort of electric pump too I imagine. Any ideas? If that leads nowhere - is it ok to remove the pump and lines all together without ruining my steering components? I've driven the car without a belt on it, and it seems just fine, I'm just not sure how prolonged use might affect it. Thanks.
  19. I think we're all here for the same reason, and that's to fuel our passion. I just get a bit bummed out when I see threads going south in a hurry. Good luck with your build and be sure to keep us updated.
  20. I think what Pyro originally posted was highly important to keep in mind. Simply throwing together a bunch of parts without knowledge on how they'll react together is definitely an equation for disaster. There's quite a few people on here in the 400hp range. Most of them have gone to great lengths to ensure the longevity of their motors. I'd suggest you read the sticky on head pics and descriptions, as well as the thread about squish or quench if you haven't already. After that, read some more. Your fuel injection method and means of tuning it are also going to play a key role in how long you "maintain reliability." I see you posted how you plan to do so, but your first remark at Pyro's reply was a bit over the top I think.
  21. Here's a few of my favorites. I detail cars on the side, so most of my pictures are after shots of my work. This is one of my favorites. I wish this one didn't have such a "busy" background. Again, too busy, but a decent photo. One of my favorites of my old truck. My old Z31 Didn't take this one, cause I'm in it, but it was my camera. All pics were from a D50.
  22. You're in Corpus, I'm in Fort Worth. My wife and I need a beach getaway. Wanna trade for a few hours of manual labor?
  23. Sure, I'll play! Not my Z, but it'll have some once I figure out what I want.
  24. I've had my cherry picker for about 3 years now. I am really glad that I bought it. It's been a very useful tool for moving anything heavy, and the occasional engine removal. Mine was a cheap auto-store variety. One of the caster wheels' mounting plate bent. Last weekend I hammered it back into shape and welded the plates to the hoist. Works like brand new again. I've moved a total of 4 engines with this thing, and the 150$ I spent was well worth it.
