  1. Do you still have any of the stock exhaust? If so would you consider cutting off the first 12" or so of the stock 2-1 downpipe that bolts to the exhaust manifold and selling/shipping that?
  2. Shot in the dark - do you have a front transmission cover for a FS5W71A or B you'd be willing to sell?
  3. I'm in CA, and my 78Z just passed the smog test with flying colors last Saturday. Whew!! In general, runs pretty well and is lots of fun. Anyway, I hadn't really considered doing any engine performance modifications due to the smog requirements. I gotta admit I don't know a whole lot about these matters, but I understand the car would be very unlikely to pass smog with non-turbo performance modifications like cam, headwork, porting/polishing, headers, etc. Not only that, but it wouldn't even perform very well as long as the stock EFI system is used, from what I've read. Because of all this, I haven't really investigated doing much upgrade-wise to my engine. However, given the possible "freedom" come 2012 (assuming one has the correct insurance), would it be possible to implement non-turbo performance upgrades, including EMS like Megasquirt, and yet still have the car pass the CA tailpipe test? I'm not that familiar with Megasquirt, but could one develop a "smog-test" map that would enable the smog requirements to be met? Marc
  4. Thanks for the reply, Steve. Other than this, have you been satisfied with the Ansens? In any case, the problem doesn't seem huge, so I'll probably just go ahead and get the wheels. If any intereference shows up, I'll look into either the spacer or machining the wheel.
  5. Apologies for dredging up an old thread... Hope the interested parties are still around. I'm really looking into getting some of these Ansen sprint wheels (15x7). I'm not sure how prevalent this issue is, but I'm glad it has been documented. Anyway, as a follow-up, does anyone know how much interference are we talking? It sounds like a very small amount.
  6. Looking good! If you don't mind me asking, where did you have the work done and how much did they charge you?
  7. jhm/dhp123166, I like how you have filled in the fender. What did you use to do it? Marc
  8. Interesting! If you're going to be taking more photos, would you mind taking/posting one of a side view? I'm interested to see how the grill profile blends with the nose of the car, looking from the side. Marc
