11/12/03 LT1 runs 11's (broke)
JustAFantaZ replied to mas28O's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
It's all that TORQUE!! Was it on your first run? Do you trailer your Z to the track now or did you have to call a tow service? -
LSA = Lobe Separation Angle I believe that the large the number, the less overlap of intake and exhaust valve opening and closing. The smaller the number, the choppier the idle. More duration = higher power band I think.

mas, check your e-mail. I saw a video clip of a Porsche vs a Hybrid V8 Fiat. The Porsche did 114mph, but it was a 13.20 second car. The Fiat was in the 11's@120ish. Why not get more cam?

You people sound like a bunch of paranoid freaks, all scared to drive a car in a straight line. Are all of you moms or what? I routinely drove my STOCK 1976 280Z up to 130mph and when I got some motor mods, 140mph. Then when I got the V-8, I didn't have much gear (only a 3-speed automatic), but I still got up there to about 120mph on occasion. I once took a trip out of town and I "cruised" anywhere from 100mph to 120mph almost the whole way. I actually did that about 3 times, twice with the Inline6, and once with the V8. Heck, I recorded a 124mph trap speed at the drags one time with stock brakes and springs(mas28O was driving). It's no big thing as long as there is plenty of room, no traffic, and it's a straight line. Y'all are just overly fearfull, that's all.

Yeah, it's down. Check out this nasty domain name company: I recommend not using "itsyourdomain.com" ever again. They should rename it, "itsmydomain.i0wnj00.com"

I would guess about 275HP give or take 25 or so. -

Isn't that fraud? You should look into getting your money back and suing them if they refuse. Spend the money on a much better kit. -
mas28O hooked me up with e-bay. I never registered there before until he started telling me about all the great deals for LT-1 motors on there. Just a couple of days ago, I saw a 1995 LT-1 + trans + computer + wiring harness all for $1199. But you can find good carb motors on there too if you search I'm sure.

Do you have any more details or where to find more info about that? Thanks

That program lost you 3/10's and 7 mph. Delete it! -

Chevy starters, starting to get me pissed...
JustAFantaZ replied to Owen's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I used to have problems with Pep Boys and Autozone(Even Chief Autoparts in an emergency) alternators and starters all the time. I finally bought the JTR Datsun V-8 Conversion Manual, the 7th Edition. Based on page 3-4, starter #3 for the 168-tooth flywheel, I went to the local Chevy dealer's parts store and bought a reduction gear starter from a 1996 GM truck with a 454 big block. It was a nice starter, and worked every time. It only weighs 8 pounds! I had Hooker full-length headers, non-coated, and no heat wrap for the scarab kit. I also bought an aftermarket alternator, but I don't recall much difference in charging. I need good charging in lower RPM's and city driving, but I don't think this one kicked in until 2000rpm. -
Looks great! How much do I need to save up to buy it?

Would you say the same for the husband and the judge in Florida who are trying to kill Terri Schiavo? If you're not familiar with the story, here is a Web site: http://www.terrisfight.org/

That is grievous. I feel so sorry for the child. That's all I can say.

I was at Church, I missed it. What was the show called again? Are they gonna show a replay? If so, when? If not, did you record it? Can you somehow convert it and put it on the Web? Do they archive their shows and put them on their Web sites? bummer

I guess it's time to get your car in the 10's. Either that or keep your NO2 tank filled 8)

Thanks! I had a '76 Z that suffered horrible battery problems(corrosion) when I still had the inline-6. It rusted a hole down there iirc. BUT after I had the V-8 in there for a while, my friend mas28O helped me put new 5/8" aluminum fuel lines in there to match up with the electric fuel pump we installed in the back. We just went to some store and got a few feet of aluminum lines and cut them to fit. However, I think we kept the original fuel return line, but I forget which stock one we kept. Early on before the swap, he helped me route the fuel lines outside the fender sheet metal and back in near the front of the motor, I guess to keep the fuel away from the heat of the V-8 headers. This might have helped prevent problems for me. Who knows? But I thank God I'm still living!
