  1. Mine is really loud also. Mostly on part throttle. INSANE LOUD!
  2. prefectly fine. You have the engine managment and fuel. Just keep her fuled. N42 blocks are stronger due to have no cut outs in the webbing, This could make them prone to hot spots.
  3. OOOOO. Thats one Z id love to see
  4. whooa quick. lol Never got a chance to read that. What did it go for in the end ?
  5. o0ah.. NASTY!!! LOL. She doesnt agree............. Does that mean she belongs to me now ?
  6. Gotta love those work equips. So how much did they cost to ship
  7. i wish the options for Any lsd to fit a Z'd or the r30 is pretty limited and rare here. A long nose lsd from say a hr31, Crappy 4.11 ratio + will easly set anyone back here over $800. Most ive seen got for around $1200
  8. wow great thanks for the link. Looks like ill use my r200 3.9 diff out of the skyline for now. with the 79 280z box. will give me 2800rpm at 100k. Then weld the 280 r200
  9. any ideas on what has the longer ratios ? What rpm does a l28e box sit at at 60mph ? 3000 ? 3200 ? ect. The l20et box has done over 400,00k, so im not really keen on using it for to much longer untill its rebuilt
  10. Im doing my l28e Rebuild into a l28et and im trying to decided which gearbox to use. my donar car is a 70 s130 280z. L28e factory manual. Low k's also. The new build will be going into my 1985 R30 skyline with a l20et, Manual also. Im at the point as i dont know which would be a better gearbox to use. I find the l20et box has close ratios with 1st 2nd 3rd. And cruse at 100kmph at 3200rpm. (3.9diff) Now i havnt driven the donar 280z as it wasnt running when i got it. (motor is being rebuilt) I dont know what the ratios are like on that box. Or which would be better suited for the torque and power curves that a l28et delivers
  11. haha, gottta love the american accent Looking good sounds great to
  12. Mine is a s130 luckly. Either way ive come accros another way to do this. 5x114 trailer hubs.. I can get them thru work cheep. Everything is the same dimensions on them bearing placement. The bearings are the same ect. just 5x114. So ill be modding them to fot the maxima rotor on the back face.
  13. Sorry... hahah i always have a weird way of explaining things. Im using the s12+8 calipers but the vented rotor version. from a 88 hilux, They use a 20-22mm vented rotor.
  14. Ok... intresting. whats the possibilty of some pictures ? Mostly im requiring this to see what its like on a 79 280z. It could be a problem that im using the earlyer s12+8 calipers. Which are usually only used on the solid rotor. Since mine are the venter rotor version (20mm nomanal thickness) Does that change the whole subject for me ?
  15. ok guys, What do i need to do. Im doing this upgrade my problem is, is trying to find the right rotor. As i stated in the above post. Im using 1979 280z Front hub carriers. These are going onto my skyline as the main spline is the same. Same with all the mounting points. ect.... Im using the s12+8 Vented disk Calipers off a 1988 hilux/4runner Which really need the ofset of the rotor to be pushed back. MY problem is at the moment is when lineing the gear up on the rotor ( i marked out caliper mounting points to see where the rotor will sit in the caliper) I came accros that the caliper hits the center of the 280z hub. :(. Now im dumfounded. Either way. it looks like i have 10mm extra clearance on the caliper in the Rotor O'd. With these maxima rotors what out diamiter are they ? Hat height ect ? IM getting frustraited and confused also about this. Does this upgrade not apply to a 1979 280z ?
  16. OK... Im unsure if im reading this right. IM doing this upgrade on my hr30 skyline. Im using the 280z Hub/carreir and bolting that to the hr30 spline ( same as the 280z. R30's use a crappy Hub/rotor combined setup) Everything matches up the same as it would on the 280z. So this means i can use the maxima rotors ? with out needing a spacer ect?. What od are the maxima rotors ? 250mm...260 ? ect ?
  17. Id love to ger a hy35w. But they arnt easy to get over here in New zealand, Unless i can work out shipping ect from the us. PLus if its over 400nz I get stung with Secondary Tax
  18. Yeah i was hoping that wouldnt be the case. He has agreed to give my money back.
  19. Well i got myself a Holset H2a. It finialy turned up today. I got this off out largest Online ebay site, Aka trademe.co.nz http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=67326947 Downside after i removed the compressor housing, Well love and behold.. the thrust bearing was fucked. And the compessor wheel Chewed. Freaken huge it was to . So if i cannot send it back to him and get my money back, CAn i get anything to rebuild this, I had our local turbo reconditiners looking for a bearing rebuild kit, But told them to holf off because of the compressor wheel. So... what can i get ? What can i use ?
  20. Hey guys, im getting a Holset h2a8243 Turbo for a good price. Im just having a lack of sucess in finding information and compressor maps for this turbo. Hopefully you guys are able to help me Full Tag specs are holst assy 523647 serial 1260355 engine 848556 type h2a8243abh16ja http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=67326947
  21. Well i have a a/f guage. Will show me if i lean out. What would be the max Pressure the afm can take ?. Im running at 15psi atm
  22. Why not just relocate the air temp sensor ? Ive looked at my turbo AFM's i have lying around. And it easy looks like you can remove it, rewire it and put it in the boot infront of the turbo. Easly getting the required Air temps. you could also use the Air temp blacking plate of a N/a AFM
  23. so it seems to be taking the positive boost pressure quite well ? I was told i could not do this. Id love to be able to. Removes a huge restriction front the front of the turbo
  24. Its about time i get some good solid information regarding Putting Front bowl sumps on L28's What im doing is.. Im fitting a 1979 280zx L28. (139,000k on the clock) into my HR30 skyline. at the moment i have a l20et with quite a few mods. The l20et uses a front mounted bowl sump to clear the x-member and steering rack. So that would be required to be done on the l28 when i install it, Also to setup to run the L20et Setup /upgraded turbo ect. What is actaully involved in the oil pick up and the dipstick relocation ?. I know about the oil pump and dizzy drive swap over needed. Im getting alot of mixed opinions bout drilling the block for the front dipstick or not so ? There is a oil gallery in the way ? who knows. Can anyone actually chime in information, Or know of anyone who has actaully done this ?
