  1. I finally got my Z running on the SDS and 72lb injectors. Right now I'm waiting to use a friends welder to weld the intake plumbing. Here are a few photos.

     

    The relay board I built because I had lots of extra time and wanted a clean power source for the SDS, Apex'i, fan, and fuel pump. It everything but the fuel pump and fan turn on with the key. I have schematics if anyone wants them.

  2. It's nothing at all like a garden hose. Water is effectively uncompressable, while air (a gas) will change in density with pressure and temperature. The AFM will only measure flow.

    If it is placed in an unpressureized location (before the turbo) and is temperature compensated it works.

    BUT if it is pressureized, then you have to take into account both temperature and pressure. I think Corky Bell talks about this a little.

    If you're going to do all that why not just measure pressure, get rid of the AFM, and use VE tables?

  3. The little thing with the "T" shaped terminals is the ignitor, I only had 1 wire (the yellow and black one) going to it.

    Be careful, because if you apply power to the wrong terminal it's really easy to blow it, which means no spark. New the ignitor is expensive, but is the same across a couple different nissans.

  4. Most of those choppers use the belt as the primary drive, but still use a chain as the final drive.

    All the bikes I am familiar with have the transmission connected directly to the engine, and the primary drive is internal.

    Changing the length of a drive chain is REALLY easy, takes about 10 minutes.

    As for chain drive vs. belt drive it used to be that chains could handle more abuse, but newer belt technology means that chains are cheaper and narrower. Belts are smooth. There was a good discussion of this on vfrdiscussion.com

     

    Back on topic, I think the gear drive would be cool if someone made it with herringbone or double helical gears, it would be smooth, quiet, and able to take lots of abuse. But would be really expensive.

  5. 9C1 caprice had an LT1. Basically the same as an impalla except with an auto tranny and different quarter windows.

    Can be had for cheap because they were cop cars, careful finding one that has not been beat on (smaller townships police departments usually, if the only have 1 or 2 cars they take better care of them because its not as easy to get a new one.)

  6. Thats a cool lincoln.

    My dad was just down in orange county to help my grampa clean out his garage. They finally uncovered his '47 Lincoln Continental.

    The tabs on the car are from 1959. My dad was drag racing it when he was 16 (60 now) and broke the rear end. It was towed home and parked. Its been sitting covered in the garage since then. It doesn't have the v12 anymore, instead they replaced it with a v8.

  7. I have no idea on how getting stuff out of the armory works. Most people I know who own guns either live in housing (not in the gated area of the base) and just have to tell the base police what guns they own. Or if they live in the BEQ rent a locker at the range, they have access to it whenever the range is open.

     

    Also every base I've been on does random car searches. Open hood, trunk, any storage areas, give them insurance and registration.

     

    There have been both command wide and random "health and wellness" inspections of the BEQ. You open your door, they look through anything they want with you standing there, open panels in the ceiling, look under mattress, whatever. I know people who went to NJP for handguns, long knives, flushing agents, ect.

  8. You're gonna want to check on being exempt on firearm laws.

    My experience is that you have to abide by the base laws in addition to the state laws.

    I wanted to buy a handgun when I was stationed in NY. But still had to have the residency requirements (1yr) and pass the application process (takes 6 months, even though the govt trusts me).

    I know a couple people who moved there with them, ended up having to ship them to relatives in other states.

     

    Also, every military base I've been on does not allow ANY projectiles to be brought on base (exceptions are for people performing their duties) this includes paintball, airsoft, potatoe cannons, blowguns, ect.

  9. In the last 4 years I've moved alot.

    Pacific Northwest (Vashon Island) - really nice, rains a bit, temperate.

    Flint, MI - Really not good. Depressing. Weather is bad. Cold.

    Charleston SC - Hot and muggy during the summer, freezes during the winter, I didn't like it at all.

    Saratoga Springs NY - REALLY nice. Land can still be cheap (I have friends who lived on 100 acers for $1800 a month). Close to albany. Lots of $ in saratoga, gets cheaper fast outside. Not too far from Watkins glen, Lime rock (I like it the same as Laguna Seca), Loudin (Lots of bike stuff), and theres also one in pensylvania.

    Groton, CT - I don't like it, seems too much like Tacoma.

    Next is Guam. Should be interesting.

  10. What I've found to not get hassled is to just not be stupid.

    One of my roommates had a Cobra, and drove it stupid, peeling out, racing, and got pulled over a couple times.

    On my R1 I don't do dumb stuff, no wheelies, no stoppies, no burnouts. About the worst I do is rev the piss out of it, I can do almost double any legal surface street speed limit in 1st gear (I've seen 97 mph, supposedly its good for 103). With that I'm just careful where I do that (divided streets, with no entrances, and the highway).
