  1. maybe a 240z rack? idk, there is a drift build on here that has something about making your lock angle better
  2. id say do what bigphil did, he is like a youtube idol when it comes to 280z
  3. the whole purpose to this is to keep the engine and engine bay clean, while not spitting bad air and gasses as well as sludge back into your engine, getting a cleaner burn and such. Honestly, If you can weld, even if its steel, which will be much heavier, its not hard to make something simple like this. I need to practice TIG, but im 16, I can MIG and Stick weld. Can sorta TIG but im not really great at it. I am going to make my own when I get to the whole catch can. But this one is very nice and clean, and will be easier for people who don't have the time, know how, or want, to make their own can.
  4. I dont know how to word it I guess, the tie rods are stock, but not at an angle anymore. I could be wrong, but the way I'm looking at it, when they have that angle in them it reduces the amount of steer you can get, but then when he puts them strait, you can steer more. Look at the 2 pics in this post, I may be wrong. Just my view on the whole deal.
  5. You have LSD, Rebuild it, lmao, or get a new one, sounds like a rear diff locking problem, just get a new lsd or rebuild it. Your a drifter, its probably worn out
  6. Hey, I will be at the July 25th driftindy event at Indianapolis Speeddrome, wont be driving, my Z is in New Mexico. The reason why the Subaru deal works is, the steering arms are the same length, but they have a great ability to push out the tire. They are strait at center, and the used to be at a 30 degree or so angle. My brother has a Subaru impreza that is AWD and if I can talk him into letting me drive it, and get tires, I will register to drift. But that will most likely not happen. As for the trouble hanging the rear end on a Z compared to a 240sx, the wheelbase of a 240sx is 97.4 inches. The wheelbase on a datsun Z is 90.7 inches. I see it being easier to get it out and sideways, the Z is also lighter than a stock 240sx. They make similar power, KA24 to L28, Both cars can be sr20 swapped, the biggest problem will be the lock angle and suspension I believe, maybe running boost would help.
  7. Now, I have noticed most or you on here posted about the 280zx being a LARGE car, or bigger car. Saying missing 2 cylinders would be hard. The car in stock form, with no weight reduction of any sort, curb weight is 2824lbs, the stock 180sx weighs 2690, now keep in mind, that is stock curb weight, meaning if you removed both the engines from each car, they would be nearly the same weight. There are also many more easily obtained upgrades for the sr20det than an l28et
  8. have you guys quit with this? no posts in a while, im long gone and in Indiana now.
  9. i think it would just look awesome, its kinda like doing a s13 front end swap, its just drifter style to me, idk, im a stupid kid haha, i think lots of stupid things
  10. will these be for sale, would make one hell of a drift front end, haha
  11. justin? luck? haha j/k, i told him push start it with the suburban, just dont ram them into each other, put it in first, push it down knoxville, if it turns over and fires good job, haha, but yea, i dont think his dad really wants to do that, it is alot more dangerous than the rest, but ive been around open wheel racing all my life
  12. I edited a pic to make it like that, if i find it, ill edit it into this post
  13. haha, justin i think you have viewed every thread on this site since you joined, lmao, i love the tail lights
  14. i sure am going to give it a try, and for the guy who neglected to buy bumper repair and got two part epoxy instead, ever think thats why yours cracks
  15. the best part about that paint, it cost 94 cents, thats what i was using to paint my modded xbox controllers justin Phar, He has a full QP on that other car that can be cut out alot the edges, laid over the other one, mark, cut the other one off, tac weld it in then make sure its even and weld it in, justin and i both can weld, idk if his dad can but probably
  16. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, haha, i was over helping him today, took off alot of bondo, haha, i dont even see need for it in some spots, even if it was just finishing then aparently finishing involves 1/2in+ of bondo, i dont understand how the guy thought he was pulling the fenders
  17. Dont be stupid justin, he pulled that back out, just a really poor way i guess, rivets? normally they use a stud welder and pull the studs, but your car has most def. been crashed, haha, i still laugh at you, but w/e if you put about 2 hours into that with a ballpin hammer and good old fashion elbo grease, you could get it better then bondo it again to make it better
  18. JUSTIN WHATS UP, thanks for the ignition outta the black one, not sure but mi mom said we might go get my 280z next weekend im down for being in the NMZCC, i live in portales as well Phar, ive got a running orange 280z, it came from a police lot for $500 edit: o yea far, im 16, its my first z that im getting, haha, and i got dibs if bumpers go cause i am putting work into these cars as well, we pulled the dash and tail lights from the black one thursday, JUSTIN im bored txt me haha, and you shoulda bought that brand new dash, to bad your phone was dead
  19. Just to make sure i get this right, if I order a KAAZ 2 way 240sx LSD for replacement in an open diff. 240sx, it is a direct bolt in without modification to a 280z? I don't have serious plans for my car.
  20. Okay, I've got one pic and that's it for now, more later, not really sure what im going to do you, just going to be a make it up as i go thing, also, as the money comes in, car was my christmas present, got it for 500 bucks! so it runs and drives, 5 speed, and yea, like the title says, we'll see where it goes:-o
  21. lol, the more i see about these cars the more i like them
  22. yea, the bodys just got a few old car dings, its a fantastic deal though, i see them go in the same condition for 1200+ everyday, never really though of getting one, but the deal came along, i said i would like the car and my mom said ill buy it for you, lol, yea im 16 but i know my way around a car, and it will be a great learning experience with an older engine, although i really want a 240sx or ae86 corolla, the drift tax BS where everybody thinks their worth more ruined that for me
  23. HAHAHAHA, yea, my mom is getting me mine for xmas taken from a repo lot but wth its a 280z it runs, its orange the bodies pretty good, interior needs work, 500 smacker, i think its a damn good deal
