nitr0, Any motor out of Pick-N-Pull is what I consider a rebuildable core. Complete motors go for $150US plus a $50US core and of course the environmental fee and taxes. So figure about $250US is the value of any motor at Pick-N-Pull. Do you need another L28et exhaust manifold? I have one sitting around just taking up space.
-
nitr0, Funny you mention the L28et's. I have seen them in several Pick-N-Pulls. Usually the block ends up crushed with the car. Shipping and Handling is the major killer. I paid around $200US for an RB30 block off ebay and it ended up costing me an additional $500US to get it here. If you have any ideas or know anyone in the shipping field, I wouldn't mind getting all the L28et's you could handle. I hate seeing good stuff get melted down for scrap.

I have used Rinkya several times and have not had any problems with them. Shipping is the killer on the larger items. Most of the parts I bought cost more to ship than the winning bid. In the end I can say this, I have my G-Nose hinges and early model Skyline tail lenses.

I will not have a day off till next monday. If it is still there I can pull it out.

Guess no one is interested as it is still there. They are planing to crush the Z this week.

I have an RB30 series II block sitting in my garage. Also I have a set of trashed RB26 wiseco's. The wrist pin heights are noticably different between the RB26 and RB30 pistons. According to Wiseco's catalog, they manufactured pistons specifically for the RB30 with the RB25 DOHC head. That is why the advertized CR does not make sense to me. Shipping and handling fees are your big expense with shipping the RB30 blocks. I paid a little over $200 US for mine and it ended up costing another $500 US in shipping and handling fees.

P/N K577M865, RB30 block with RB25 head. They should work with the 26 head I have, however, the <7:1 CR troubles me. A typo perhaps? http://www.wiseco.com/PDFcatalogs/SC05_nissan.pdf Anyone have any opinions or reasons why a person would want to have that low compression?

The Z was hit in the back. Yes it will bolt up to the L28e. Might as well take the flywheel and clutch assembly while you are there.

I have been basing much of my build off of a skylinesaustralia forum. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15420 Over 100 pages of information on that forum. My setup will be using the 26 head. A local machine shop has tapped out the block for the larger diameter head bolts. Getting the parts indirectly is not an easy task. It will nickle and dime you to death not to mention the time involved.

rb26zed, I agree and appreciate you mentioning wrecking yards BSing about rarety and prices. Wrecking yards are in business to make money. Not to say there are all bad people. A friend of mine once owned a small wrecking yard and he had a saying; "The ultimate value of any car is how much does it weigh!" $305au was my max bid on the block. I was not going to bid any higher. Actually I feel better knowing you would not have gone higher!

$300au is a high price for someone in Australia, there is no doubt about that. The troubles the guy went through to get it shipped to me make up for the price in my opinion. It all comes down to what someone considers their time worth. There are several Pick-N-Pulls in my area with abundant supplies of L24e, L28e and L28et's. Any complete engine goes for $149.00. Some times they have half off sales to. From what I hear, these motors are difficult to find in Australia. The communication through the internet has made the world seem smaller. To bad world shipping and commerce has not quite caught up.

I found an RB30 block on ebay last September. Here are the totals for shipping from Australia. Series II non-turbo short block. (block, crank, rods, pistons, rear seal, and beat up oil pump) $305.00AU Shipping and handling from Australia $304.00AU Total $609.00AU or $439.20 US Dollars The block was picked up from the sellers door and loaded into a container consigned by Brennan International Brennan International Shipping Company charges into Port of San Diego Documentation $50.00 Terminal Handling Charge $45.00 Chassis Fee (No idea what that was) $2.00 Port Security Fee $25.00 Customs Exam $19.55 Total to Brennan $141.55 St. George Warehouse of Oakland Forklift $35.00 Customs Entry Fee $50.00 Documentation Fees $5.00 Handling In/Out-General $35.00 Total to St. George $125.00 Now on top of all the above, I drove from Sacramento to Oaklnd to pick it up. That was a 200 mile round trip. So figure about $25.00 for gas. The St. George customs entry fee was for filling out a single piece of paper that needed U.S. Customs clearance signatures. I had to drive a few miles to the customs office to get it signed. No big deal. As you can see, it ended up costing me around $730.75. All the above should give a good idea of what is involved. Shipping heavy items can be troublesome. RB30 motors may be cheap and plentiful in Australia but remember someone has to go through a lot of time and effort to ship it. The same holds true when shipping from Japan. I can see additional charges for a translation service already. Hope this helps answer some questions about shipping.

I had the same problem with the file being bad. After updating Acrobat Reader it solved the problem.

Found this on ebay. This is the second time I have seen someone selling them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7986091841&category=46098

My 1978 Fairlady-Z originally had a 4.11 R180.

Matt, Thanks for the info about Arias. I have been debating using off the shelf Wiseco's or custom made for my RB30DETT.

Here is a link to a source for custom pistons. Give them your specs and they will make em. http://www.ariaspistons.com/custom.htm#

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/phase2motorsports/cpfopikitrb.html Most of those sites deal with aftermarket parts.

An RB20 clip I purchased still had the A/C charged. A suprising discovery.

Try pluging those part numbers here http://www.nissanparts.cc/ Last week I ordered the oil pickup/strainer from them. It should be here soon. I will post pictures of it when it arrives. Their price for the pickup was $26.28. Now the wait to see if it is truly a 200ZR part. Actually as long as it works with the rear sump pan, I don't care! The pan is listed for $135.81. Already have one and of course I paid more than that for it!

FedEx was sure fast this time! Less than 5 days coast to coast!

Hey everyone, I am in the Philippines right now and have stumbled upon another RB series motor. This one cames in thier Ciefro model. It is a single OHC setup. I doing a bit more research while I am here. The local Nissan dealership quoted an oil pump at $260.00 US (part number 15010-79S06). Numerous other parts are available. I will be in the Philippines through March 7. So if anybody has some thoughts on this please let me know. If possible, I will get bore and stroke info. This is kind of like an archeology find to me. A factory built RB24? It does exist. I saw the Nissan Factory part book.

Is there anybody in the US that could use an R33 crankshaft? I was going to use it with an RB20 block but now I am building an RB30DETT. So it is of no use to me.
